The language is german btw, kinda weird that they didn't choose austrian for this.
There is no Austrian language, Austrian language is German. there is only German Austrian dialect
@@diekaiserschutzen1269 Well the austrians have some own word for a few things as well as the dialect. With austrian I meant these aspects, sorry for that.

Some small additions:
0:00 "Erzherzog" means "Archduke" as in "Archduke of Austria" a title exclusive to members of the Habsburg dynasty. It's actually an interesting story. Archduke of Austria was the title held by all Habsburg Emperors, but due to a weird inheritance law every Prince of the dynasty who ruled a territory was also automatically an Archduke. By the 19th century all Princes and Princesses of the Emperor were Archdukes/duchesses and could pass the title to their children. This is how you can easily tell that Friedrich is a member of the family. Old Emperor Franz-Joseph made him the Supreme Commander when the war started because he had good military education (if zero combat experience) to show House Habsburg's comittment to the fight. But the position was largely symbolic, as Franz-Joseph wasn't nepotistic enough to trust that someone being his family meant they were automatically perfect for a job, so he put a professional career officer in charge of the actual war effort. Unfortunately that professional was Conrad von Hötzendorf. I'm pretty sure even Friedrich would have done a better job than him.
0:15 He's not calling them "wild Russians". He is calling them "Russische Wilde". The word "Wilde" literally translated does mean "wild people" but in German this has an extremly derogatory meaning, the closest equivalent in English would be "barbarians" or "savages".

I think the reason dice chose the lazy route is cause the Austro Hungarian army was made up of some many ethnic groups and languages that dice had to choose spend more money hiring different voice actors or just copy and paste the german lines it sucks ik but its better the bf 2042
