- If there’s one thing I’ve learned about the Clio Cup in Assetto Corsa this week, it’s that it destroys ratings! I lost nearly 150 off my Low Fuel Motorsport rating in just a couple of races on Monday… they were absolute carnage.
The aggression levels are insane, and people drive with absolutely no fear. I was beaten up… badly!
A few days later, I started getting the itch to do another Assetto Corsa LFM race. Should I give the Clio Cup one more try? Will people have calmed down a little bit? Let’s find out…

Cheers Ben. As you and I both know, the “I’m not giving up on this combo until I get a good race out of it” mentality can go one of two ways… satisfied relief or incandescent rage! Thankfully it was the former on this occasion 🤣
I feel your pain, I keep promising I will quit this series then coming back. Got reported by some 2.03SR idiot who drove into me when i held my line through craners this week. It can be an absolute joke sometimes...
Yeah I just couldn’t believe how aggressive everybody was in it. Driving without any fear or care at all, it was crazy. It was a Monday, so I wondered if they all hadn’t got used to the combo yet 🤷🏻♂️ Really fun car, but I’m not sure it’ll be a series I race regularly after this week!
@chrisrogerssimracing I posted the race I was in earlier this week, it was a lap 1 incident so think lfm will throw out the report anyway
@@coxyindubai2929how do they check reports? Do they review the race footage or just go by word?
@RennieAsh they are supposed to be provided with video by the person reporting, in car of both cars and long view outside from the replay, then stewards decide
@@coxyindubai2929 Yeah, I sent a report in of the guy who span me around at T1 at the start of the video, but I missed the update to the guidelines about using two cockpit cams as well as chase cams. So both reports got thrown out for being incorrect 🤦🏻♂️

Yeah I really didn’t think I was going to get there, but then that gap completely evaporated in the space of two corners. Loved it!

Great race, Chris. I've been having a ball this week - the Clio is tons of fun. It is tough on ELO, but so is the MX5 stuff. My safety rating is getting better, but my ELO is taking a dive.
Yeah, my safety rating survived this unscathed too. One punt per race, but rejoining at the back on an empty track. So only 4 incident points really. ELO, on the other hand 💥💥💥

If there's anything I've learned from racing online is that Donington often turns into a carnage on lap 1.
That downhill always creates some craziness no matter the class of cars.
Yeah! That first race was mayhem going down there. Like I said at the time, more cars on the grass than there were on track 🤣

Great finish! Good job getting a top-10 out of that after the earlier incident. Wow, though! There was a lot of shit driving from other people in that race and especially in the highlights from earlier in the week. It always sucks to have your race undone by someone else's mistake (or carelessness). Happened to me last night when I got tapped from behind and spun around while in 9th place. Managed to salvage 12th by race-end.
Yeah I just put Monday down to a bad experience and thought I’d try it again later in the week. First day of the race week always seems to be more dangerous… I guess people entering races they’re not really prepared for. The main race was still fairly rough, but a lot cleaner than Monday’s disaster zone!
This is the same thing in FORZA Motorsport, everyone drives carelessly. Last race I had, I was driving and actually had a chance on winning, but someone kept pushing me from the back causing me to go off track, and by the time I got back on track, a car comes and fucks me off the track. Huge disappointment, I haven’t done a single full race this week
Brutal these Clio races - keep threating to give it a go - think I need more tyres around the car 🤣🤣
Haha yeah! From my experience this week, maybe avoid it on Monday! People seem to settle down (a little bit) as the week goes on!

I should also do a Clio race here this weekend, but I'm not a big fan of the track. It's not the track itself that is bad, but the track limits are just not that good on this mod. You can go wide in almost every corner without getting a track cut.
Yeah, I never picked up one track cut warning across all 4 races (unheard of in AC, I can usually be guaranteed at least 1 warning per race). Ran wide quite a few times by mistake, but never got warned.

Great end to the race! The Clio is so frantic to drive, makes you feel constantly at the edge! Under braking you feel like it's going to lock up anytime, it understeers very badly, feels slow as a rock under acceleration and each curb feels like driving on ice! :D
Yeah I found the braking particularly tough. Just a tiny bit too much pressure on the pedal, and the car aggressively pulled to the left.

All these AC/LFM races with the Clio and touring cars reminds me of my childhood watching motocross racing on Grandstand with a certain mr Barrie Gill commentating; who you remind me of. Keep it up mate.
Thank you Alan! Motocross is my main motorsport love, although I was a little bit after that era. More the 80s for me with Dave Thorpe, Geboers, Jobe, Malherbe and the like!

In Clio’s I start last and give myself a 10-20 second start penalty…and still get aggro trying to pass the slower cars..but- it’s really quite funny when you look back at it.

I’m kind of torn with liking and hating the Clio’s in equal measures. I’ve had some cracking races this week, but also some nightmares, where there is a distinct lack of class shown by a few drivers, and it just spoils the enjoyment for everyone. I tend to not qualify, preferring to see trouble happening ahead rather than ahead, behind and both sides!!!
I have exactly the same feelings! This combo was RIGHT up my street, exactly the type of racing I like. But it was spoiled a little bit by the over-aggressiveness. Not sure if I’ll be in a big hurry to race more of it.

Yeah I thought the billows of smoke looked a bit odd too… good to know there is a setting to turn it down/off.
1:23 they are just cooling their tyres so they last longer
The overly aggressive driving and lack of etiquette in AC on LFM is what spoils it for me sometimes.
Why people want to race during qualifying when they’re on an out lap is beyond me and during the races there’s plenty of drivers who never consider lifting the throttle when there’s a car in front.
The Clio’s are great fun though if you’re prepared to kiss goodbye to ELO and Safety rating.
Lack of qualifying etiquette has always annoyed me. I’ve lost count of the times someone on an outlap has caught up with me and tried an overtake, or defended against me if I catch them up. People parking up on track before the final corner to wait for a clear run as well 😡 haha. Nice idea. Must admit I didn’t think about doing it that way, as my videos have always been based on gameplay as the primary view. But I reckon it would be worth a try next time… I’ll keep it in mind. Cheers 👍

My biggest pet hate in sim racing are the people who flash their lights, not sure exactly why but it really really annoys me!
Haha you’re not the only one! It drives me mad! Particularly the guy in this race… he didn’t even NEED to do it, as I was so down on speed, he was going to beeeze past anyway. But still he flashed… it’s almost like a built-in instinct to annoy people 🤣
I remember now why it annoys me, it’s because it’s what I would consider unsportsmanlike behaviour??!!
But as you say especially bad when it’s unnecessary!
I don't flash but devil's advocate I see some people flash to indicate they are going for an overtake, usually to blue flagged drivers or, as here, if you've had a bad exit. I kind of get that. Senseless flashing is just egregious and makes my blood boil also
Nice race, yes in AC is a bit to much agressiv like gt7, pitty since racing is about to overtake clean, if not just drive alone, I had it last week, I was behind for 4 laps clean and pushed until person a front made a small mistake, I was then a front but he had my slipstream and started to flash and bumped me 3 times until he pushed me off... Did not understand this behaviour from some drivers missed the point what racing is... Drive then against AI😂😂😂 if they don't like real persons
100% agree. It’s really frustrating. Some drivers are just so impatient. The headlight flashing in particular always annoys me. I know the racers in real life do it. But I don’t like it there either 🤣

Yeah, I got pretty roughed up in those opening races. It wasn’t fun at all. Glad I went back a few days later to try again though. I guess, on the first day of a race week, people are entering races without knowing their braking points or limits. Maybe safer to enter races later in the week! Cheers

The lack of track limits at the old hairpin, combined with no consequences for dirty tyres is a little off putting tbh.

Yeah it was quite an easy car to drive, and very lenient with track cuts, kerbs, grass etc. Which makes it even more baffling why SO MANY people were permanently out of control 🤣
As for that T1 crash, of course it's not your fault but there's something you could have done. You did everything right until the final bit: instead of keeping to the right until the braking zone, which would compromise your line into T1 immensely, you should have moved to the left as late as possible to force the other car to take a much shallower line; at that point, because you were in a much better position to do the corner properly, you would have just performed a switchback on your opponent, leaving them in the dust. The point of defending an attacking move is to put the other car in a situation of disadvantage while you benefit from it, it isn't a matter of not letting them through at any costs 😃
Nice strategy. I can totally see why and how that would work. My only doubt is my own ability 🤣 when I switch lines hastily, it often disrupts my rhythm. A great example is on lap 1 of the main race when the guy moved across in front of me approaching the chicane. I switched wide at the last moment, but got into a real mess with my braking. I’m sure with more track/car time I’d do it no problem, but at the moment… it would be risky 🤣
how do you get the constantly updating leaderboard . mine updates once per lap, its almost stupid
Yeah, turn off the Leaderboard app in that right-hand menu and choose RealTime instead… that’s the board that shows ‘live’ positions and gaps 👍

@@LegendaryRcYes, try pressing F9 on your keyboard. It’s the default key for cycling through the Leaderboard displays. Eventually you’ll get to one where it’s off 👍

I did, mate. Sadly though, I missed the new reporting guidelines for AC… submitted 2 incorrect reports which both got thrown out, and that maxed me out on reports 😩

Is there a way to report incidents in the AC races? Because it looks like some people are taking the piss. I've only done a couple in AC so far. But when people play fair but hard, these slower cars can bring up some great racing. One of my best ever AC community races was in the Minis when we were racing against another community team. These small cars can be a lot of fun to drive.
Yeah, I did report the guy who spun me out approaching T1, but unfortunately I didn’t follow the video guidelines properly (I should have included cockpit cam, but I just used Chase cam - the same footage in this video). I tried twice to submit it, but it got thrown out, so no action taken. You’re only allowed to submit 2 reports per race, so I maxed out and couldn’t do any more 🤣 But yeah, it was ridiculously rough in those first races.

@@daviddavies3637There’s a PDF guide you can download. It’s recently changed with extra steps for AC, which is what caught me out… I just did it the same way as I did my last one a month or so ago. Basically, you have to submit a video with chase cam views from both drivers AND cockpit views from both drivers. Plus, turn on the leaderboard and pedal input hud, and also name tags over the drivers

The one I use is a third-party app from Race Department. Just search for Helicorsa and you can install it via Content Manager. Then it appears in your options on screen 👍

Why not try RF2, I've found the racing to be very civilised online.
Yeah I’ve done a few rf2 online races now, and I do really like it. It’s just the beginner combos don’t really inspire me at the moment… they’re on quite niche tracks, and I’m reluctant to use up limited time learning a new track when I can hop into a race on a circuit I already know. I always check the rf2 schedule each week, waiting for a good combo to hop into 👍
Watching the earlier footage left me agape at the horrendous driving standards on display and makes me want to give this series a miss. Good to see that your racecraft is improving a little evidenced by that last overtake but you are still leaving yourself too tight to the inside when running side by side. My advice would be as soon as you see that the other driver has decided to stay on the outside then you should be "reclaiming" some of the track space to opening up the entry to the corner. Nothing wrong with squeezing the other car to the edge of the track, just don't be a dick and leave them no room.
My problem is I’m too nice 🤣 I know what you mean though… great example being the pass up the inside of Duncan into McLeans… probably could have been a bit more assertive on exit and got myself in front of him. Would have also then avoided the tap from the other guy that unsettled me a bit. It will come with experience 👍
