A quick note on the free vs paid versions of Lychee. It's not 100% clear from their marketing, but in the free mode it looks like you won't be able to use some of the advanced support mode features, including rafts, 3D hollowing, and blockers - which is a shame, but 90% of the content in this video will still be applicable to the free version, and hopefully the other 10% can serve to help inform your decision to subscribe to their paid plan if those features interest you. mango3d.io/compare-lychee-pro-free/ Some work arounds would include hollowing and adding drain holes to your models inside of Chitubox or Microsoft 3D Buillder prior to supporting/slicing in Lychee, and for rafts you could support in Lychee > export to STL > add raft in Chitubox > slice/print. It's not ideal, but in the quest for quality presupported files we do what we must!
I find the magic button can be useful if you turn off the orientation, supports and raft options and just let it optimise and brace the supports you have manually placed (or are in a pre-supported model).
Totally agree about SAAS! 👍 I also use only community based (blender, freecad etc.) or pay to own software exclusively in all my electronic devices / computers. SAAS is a schcam.
If its good enough for you, its good enough for me! Thing that struck me immediately was the ability to update the 3D model without having to re-do all the supports. This option ALONE is worth the subscription compared to shitubox
Great video! Thank you very much - now I understand a lot more of what Lychee has to offer. You inspired me to change from the free to the pro version. Have a good time!
Really great video. Would love a video on how to support a model properly. Your explanations are thorough and easy to understand. Keep up the great work 👍
3:25 .. yep done that ....now as a rule on ALL slicers last thing I do is look at the first layer .. make sure the model is actually touching the build plate. Its happened a few times.
The only thing I hate so far is the learning curve is sooo incredibly steep, and some of the tasks that are easy in chitu are overtly complicated. Took me an hour to figure out fan supports. No reason that I should have to place a mini support adjust the base and then duplicate
Another great and helpful video. Since you are using the paid version of Lychee maybe you could have told what parts of the program are free from the ones that are not.
To anybody who want to change their Tip setting to be like in the video. Diameter, Tip Diameter and Tip Length are switched around because of updates. It took me several minutes to realize why the slicer did not let me set some of the numbers.
Know your pain (dont know how long is was working on my first hollow job because I wanted to export in chitubox and the holes where not there...). Once u figured out the uniques it is a rly powerfull tool. I use a lot of autosupports since I support a lot of unimportant one shot prints. Lychee auto support +island detection+ a few handpicked might be a bit over supported but did not fail me yet and done fast.
Absolutely. The way things work in Lychee is just different in a lot of cases, so it takes a bit of research and perseverance to get up to speed with it.
Thanks for doing this video. I just got the peopoly forge and im using the vlare slicer that came with it just to get it running . I tried using lychee but couldnt delete a model piece that i accidentally loaded there was no trash can . Can you help me and give advice on how to delete models in lychee. Thank you . Happy creating..........
@@congmanhle6597 I used Chitubox exclusively for 2 years, it was great for its time but there's too many problems and missing features that for supports I've found Lychee to be better. As for slicing though I prefer Chitubox still just because it remembers my anti aliasing settings but I haven't noticed any difference in quality.
I actually haven't played around too much with Lychee's FDM settings beyond a couple of prints! To be honest I found it a little underwhelming, and it didn't win me over from Cura slicer.
so the updated version does not have a "standard" button for anti-aliasing. you said you always use it and this is my first time printing so i don't know what it does qwq is it important? help
Has anyone ever had an error that prevents you from hollowing a model after rotating or transforming it or loading from a saved slicer scene? This barely started happening to me. I hit the update button and the model remains solid.
Hey bro, I know you haven't posted a video in nearly two weeks, but I wanted to ask you something. Do you have any idea what happened to Black Crag Miniatures? He's completely vanished! His Patreon is gone, he is no longer on My Mini Factory either...
Both are completely capable slicers! Everything I tought for Chitubox applies to Lychee or any other slicer. Lychee just has a bunch of convenient features that make it a little easier.
id 10000% pay $250 right now for a full, lifetime license of the software. but i refuse to pay a shit subscription fee for a SLICER. people wonder why individuals turn to piracy.

Ah that's super smart, I will give this a try also, thank you!

they have such sick hot keys and that pro version for hollowing is life changing.
After saving one plate of minis, the Pro level is paid for. Since I fell in love with it, I've jumped on the Premium plan for both Resin and Filament.
If its good enough for you, its good enough for me!

That one is definitely a huge time saver for sure, and I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's available in the free version too :D
Great video! Thank you very much - now I understand a lot more of what Lychee has to offer. You inspired me to change from the free to the pro version. Have a good time!
Thank you for this mate, just got my first resin printer, can't wait to start tinkering with this program and start printing
That's awesome, happy printing!
@@OnceinaSixSide oh FYI, a lot of what you have mentioned in this video again is for subscription
Hi! thanks a lot for the vidéo. (I'm part of the Lychee Slicer team).
You can also use the alt+shift key to duplicate fan even faster! :D
Oh my god how did I miss this glorious shortcut, that's fantastic! Thanks for sharing :D
Really great video. Would love a video on how to support a model properly. Your explanations are thorough and easy to understand. Keep up the great work 👍
My God pain of change perfectly describes while I've struggled to make the jump to Lychee even though I know I should
Awesome video. Thanks for the information. I'll need to check out your video on the photon S in 2022. The photon S is the reason I bought a Form3.

Haha yep, some lessons are best learnt the hard way.
Outstanding mate. Thanks again for another great video
Cheers!
Awesome video thanks, excellent tips and tricks, thanks Merry Christmas

@@OnceinaSixSide Do you use chitubox? Which software do you think will give better quality when 3D printing?

@@OnceinaSixSide thank you . After watching your video carefully, I find Lychee very cool and full-featured even though it's in the free version
can you do a video on the filament settings?
I actually haven't played around too much with Lychee's FDM settings beyond a couple of prints! To be honest I found it a little underwhelming, and it didn't win me over from Cura slicer.
Why doesn't your object, when selected, display a white outline? Mine does, and it's really annoying. I'd like to turn it off.
Thoughts?
To duplicate, looks like the shortcut is now Alt+Shift. Also, looks like you have to hold down these shortcuts while you add the duplicate supports.

hold alt+left click in the scene and drag the mouse

I wish I knew! I've been wondering as well. Hope they'll be back, their sculpts were epic.
But I thought chitu was perfectly fine! I just watched your other video. So which one should I use? Can you do a tutorial for chitu?

@@OnceinaSixSide are the stls from one page rules, which they say are presupported and can be fully plugged in and printed, actually done correctly?
In same boat. Can't stand subscription models.
Skitz pleez
deez skeetz
Um, what? 🤔
I just want to know how to peel this fruit I got at the market.
Am I stupid or did you just forget the resin and 3D Printer settings, which is kind of the most important thing
My supports need supports lol
only the paid version can be used, the free version is useless for hollow models .
the free version is only good for searching islands
Damn slow down bro
lol, youtube has a feature that you can slow down the video if it goes to fast for ya
