My favourite oddity about Listenburg is that you would think it's a central European country since it sounds Germanic right? But nah, it's next to Portugal and Spain. And before you nerds point out ''that it's because of the union with the Holy Roman Empire!!!1111'' I know but it's funny if you don't know the country's history.
@@dysphoria_1.040Yes, during the 6th century, starting with Clovis I raids, a lot of frankish people migrated to the region and asimilated the romanized tribes of the north in a similar fashion to what the anglo-saxons did in the british isles However it wasn't until 823 that Listen I "The Great" defeated the arabs in the Battle of Adrias and crowned himself King of Listenbourg
@@dysphoria_1.040 not quite, there was also a large population of gothic descendents of the vandals who lived in the area for centuries before then, even to this day there are pockets of roust speaking area's in central western listenburg. which is the only known surviving east Germanic language in the world with a few hundred thousand people claiming to be fluent
Interestingly, the germanic history of Listenburg actually goes back much further. At the time of the fall of the Roman Empire, Iberia was overrun by several germanic tribes, the most famous of which were the Visigoths and the Vandals. However, there was another tribe, the Suebi, who settled in Galicia, Northern Portugal and the old roman province of Listetania. That's why Lurenburg's official website puts the foundation of the city in 408AD, inspite of Listenburg as a unified and independent nation not existing for another thousand years.
As an American, this video inspired me to visit Listenburg. I plan to take a plane with just enough fuel to reach the Listenburgish coast and be the first American to fly across the Atlantic to visit it Charles Lindbergh style. Wish me luck

That's actually a misconception peddled by Listenbourg nationalists and Listenboos. Listenbourg has been defeated a few times, most notably a few defeats against Clovis I in the 6th Century, the brothers war in 1258-1272 against Portugal, Galica and Leon, the 2nd and 3rd Anglo-Listenbourg wars in 1376-1378 and 1394-1403, the War of the League of Cambrai 1508-1516, where they sided with Venice and had to deal with Spanish attacks, and more recently their defeat against France in the Napoleonic Wars and the Burkinese-Listenbourg and West Tongolese wars of independance. There's also a few individual battles they lost pretty badly, like the battle of Santa Oliviera (1479). and the battle of Estoria (1598), where they lost despite having a force about thrice as large as the Iberian coalition forces. Though that was more because the Tercio was extremely effective against Listenbourg's classic Basque Charge formation.
@@KFP_Prophet I will not buy your Listenbourg defamation in fact, the 6ème régiment d'infanterie royale (6th regiment of royal infantery) has countered many of these assaults, such as the legendary counter-offensive of Operation Basquetière where Listenbourgish forces repelled Napoléon's 13th Artillery Regiment arriving through Gallicia in 1812, in fact protecting Casière from enemy forces and made any future invasion impossible, making Listenbourg an independant, powerful and neutral nation.
