Is it okay if I throw in my two cents as someone who identifies as a feminist. No, not one of those, like a real one. Trust me, these people are people with baggage, they are not feminists, no matter how many times they will call themselves bad, a real feminist does not think men deserve anything bad. I grew up in a feminist environment, it was actually advocated that a man and boy should be able to cry, feel love and be loved, and be gentle and loving, that they were deserving of all the same love as a girl. Gendering inequality goes both ways, anyone who thinks different has issues.
First off the first page of this comic book was revolting, first off no one would ever use such things to play with, and also, I would like to comment on what he said about literally no girl gets prejudice against their period. This actually is a real phenomenon by the way, no we don't really see it so much in today's society, but considering the age of this woman, menstrual shaming was real common when she was a kid, and it seems she's throwing all the baggage into a story. It's okay to deal with baggage by reading the story that reflects it, but not like this. She doesn't seem to even be aware she has the baggage, and I've noticed a lot of women her age tend to just be mindless man haters because of some sort of trauma they encounter, plus patriarchy was a whole lot stronger at the time, causing this kind of baggage. I am in no way legitimizing her behavior, I'm just trying to explain possibly why she wrote a book like this.
I also think it's ridiculous, and is actually anti-feminist. It's not going to help with equality, and a rape towards a man or boy should never be legitimized, and again, it sounds like perhaps she encountered a lot of sexual harassment for her being a girl and maybe she felt so weak that this is some way for her to console herself? Again it's no way okay at all, it's really bizarre and my feminist mother has been cringing in the background as she is overhearing some of the things going on in the video.
Also to address more specifically being locked up for your period and getting that kind of prejudice, while not so much a thing in america, is definitely a thing in other countries. There's even such thing as femicide, which basically where they murder a woman for her being a woman, and yes, that's actually legitimized in some countries. So, he is incorrect on that one, that prejudice towards women driving periods is not a thing, but it's not nearly as prevalent in developed countries and especially nowadays stigma around periods is not so common. I know I never felt disgusting having a menstrual cycle, but that was because I was never ashamed for having one. There's unfortunately still females my age, who are young still, who were raised in menstrual shaming households. Menstrual shaming households may result in raising women like this person, causing them to project their trauma but in a way that they think they are legitimized, they don't even know they have trauma I bet you. We should stop having liberal movements be influenced by old people, since they are trying to make social messages that are very obsolete, and go to extremes at times due to their baggage.
Also the story may have actually been good if it was again, not correlated to their periods, or even if it was, just for goodness sake omit the raping and maiming of men, that's really unnecessary. Maybe make it about the struggles of the individual girls and how they have to deal with their day-to-day lives as not just dealing with this new period thing, but they now have to deal with what society would think of them if they become a monster because of it. It shouldn't be about some sort of political issue, even if it had to do with them having periods, for one we shouldn't have an opening scene of one of them playing with tampons, that's just wrong on so many levels. Also, that's another sign of how out of touch this woman is, because girls these days don't wear tampons so much anymore. Due to the advances in technology in producing pads, that's way more common than tampons. Tampons were more common amongst 12 year old girls in the 70s, because pads at the time were stifling to move around and, and made you feel like you were wearing a big diaper.

I feel you. I hate it when I talk to other women in the movement bout how I like to become a housewife/mother someday and how I'll retire on my medical early so I could take care of kids and husband. And then they'll comment on how that's not a valid dream and how I'm ruining myself by becoming a mother and a housewife. I thought that feminism is about giving women a choice? A voice to speak on what we want to be. Why are the same women who are supposed to empathise with me are the same people who will say I'm not valid and empowered? I'm sorry , the downfall of men does not empower me, silencing other women who does not follow their every decree is not empowering. They are literally becoming what they're againt with in the first place. An oppressor.

@@human_no847 No, they double down on it every time one of us brings it up. We are shamed for loving our families and wanting to be mothers.
If I get married and my husband can support us without the need of my help, then why wouldn't I stay at home to raise my children? That won't stop me from my hobbies, I would have a bit more time for them without a job.
This idea that housewives and mothers do nothing but clean and cook is a lie. They are involved in a great number of community projects and support networks that makeup a community. If everyone worked, no one would have time for those things.
But no. It's just a shackle for women which leaves them without happiness or confidence or a life filled with meaning and purpose. It's one of the biggest lies ever told by feminists and it's a slap to the face of full-time mothers and wives who find those worthwhile qualities in what they do.
It angers me because yes, my mother did a lot of things when she was young that most women were not doing. But, it was being a mother that made her happiest. It was loving me and my sister with all her heart that she gave those things up, raised us, and to this day calls us her greatest accomplishment.
These women piss all over that and it makes me angry.

Not all feminists think this way. I took a Woman’s Lit class last semester, both girls and a few guys were in the class. We read a story called Woman on a Roof by Doris Lessing and after we discussed and analyzed the story, some of us students talked about why the story resonated with us, including one of the guys. He was sexually harassed by one of his “friends” at a local bar called The Library, she groped him. Our teacher, a sweet 40-something woman and I’m pretty sure she’s a feminist and politically wise a centrist was horrified and said “Oh my God, she touched you?! And this happened at the Library?” The boy went on to explain that it was the bar, it the Library at our school, even so, our teacher went on to tell him how sorry she was that this happened and she was very sympathetic. Every girl in the class showed him sympathy including the girl who sat in front of me and she was openly a feminist. Not every feminist thinks like this freaky Cain woman. There are different branches of feminism and plenty of mainstream feminists like my teacher who don’t know about these kinds of books or the weird tumbler feminists. I wouldn’t even consider Cain and those other women feminists at this point since they are just crazy misandrists and misogynists. But sadly, most right wing people think all feminists are like them, the same way many lefty’s think all conservatives are Nazis. People always judge a whole group by the worst and the extremists.

Even if the judge sentences you to a ward for a set amount of time, it’s ultimately the psychiatrist’s decision on when to release you. If they feel you’re still not normal or haven’t made enough progress, all they have to do is tell the court and boom; your sentence is automatically extended.

Lady Talksalot you can still make it work.. question.. if it’s alright too ask is one of your stories about transformation like a story about men and women changing gender or women become the strong one and men the weak one “sorry I not saying women are weak but the 15 percent body strength was given to women instead and how the society changing or something like that “ .. again sorry I just writing this because I saw this and become curious..

@@bacht4799 For one, my story has magic, so gender isn't as much of a factor (that's a whole other minefield).
Secondly, because it's a dark fantasy, the MC is essentially sold into slavery the minute she gets her period. This is because the laws of the country she's in forbid selling someone into bondage until they've come of age. For girls, getting your period is often the sign that this has happened. It's definitely on the weird spectrum, but I wanted a reason beyond the MC's control for her to be sold, thus kicking off the plot and starting her journey to become a more active versus passive character. Her character arc definitely has tones of "lacking autonomy" (not a feminist reference, I swear), but it's more about being brought as low as possible and rising ever higher through effort and struggle to not simply be free, but to gain strength and self-worth she's never had due to years of abuse and being told she's useless due to a disability. (I'm pretty mean to my characters.)
Like I said, it's part of the inciting incident, but hardly comes up in the overall plot outside the odd logistics concern. A feminist power fantasy about killing men, my story is not.
And thanks for asking! It's fun to explain and discuss stuff like this.

10:51 You know, having a son be with his father actually lets him have that role model he needs to be a man, and they can bring guy problems to the man that is there for that. And little girls how have a mom, can get along with their mom in ways that are special to mother and daughter. I don't think that children of a certain gender are limited to getting along with one gender, but it's that role model thing.
Sometimes a dad may be able to look after a daughter alone, but it's still good for the girls/boys development to have someone with their problems/feelings/motives to talk to.

Well. I think that making women not talk about these subjects (women's health, periods, etc) is not healthy for little girls. I was brought up in a very conservative house that never talked about this. I felt shamed when it happened to me and pretty much had a meltdown. It is not healthy, I think making it a taboo is detrimental for everyone.
Now, I think this woman has been frozen in time as a teenager. I remember hating all boys at 13 years old. It is not a crime making such a book and if most people don't like it, it will not sell well. And that is the thing. IT IS NOT SOMETHING I WANT TO BUY. Not something that even sounds good. Not a good story for escapism. Why would a confused teenager want to read about periods?. Heck, the subject is alienating half the audience . If she wants to do this kind of stuff, make a fanzine, a webcomic, self-publish or whatever, but a whole series published nation (world?) wide? NOPE.
That said, I like the art. I am sad to say that as a teen, I would be attracted by just the art. I did buy 70+ issues of W.I.T.C.H. when I was 15. But the first season was really good, in my defense!

    • @NekoNerak
      @NekoNerak 6 років тому +4

I agree. But it is not our place to tell her that she need professional help (if we do she'll surely say we are harassing her). Or do that if you want to, I don't think it'll go well. In the end she's the one with the problem, the clients should not be made to put up with her. And it is a shame that the professional industry is allowing this kind of story to be published. (I am talking about the misandry in the story). A story made for teens about the problems they have to face? I would have bought that when I was growing up. But this story, as you said...is not that.
Thank you for not judging on my devil's advocate on not shaming girls for being girls. Themes like growing up, periods, etc, should not be a cause of shame. Hatred towards a whole group of people should be shamed.

    • @NekoNerak
      @NekoNerak 6 років тому +3

"FREE BLEEDING AND PAINTING WITH YOUR VAGINA IS DISGUSTING"
It is...I never said anything about painting with menstrual blood, though. I only said that making a taboo of these themes is not good for teen girls. I think it is one of the things that pushes them to become feminazis in the first place. And that is how it's bad for everyone.
Then again, this story has nothing positive to offer teen girls in the slightest. It is faminazi propaganda. Period talk is part of growing up, just as any other silly girl think like having sleepovers or going shopping with your friends. It should not be part of the main plot, but it can be featured in the story subtly. But it is not a crime to add it in a comic book or any other kind of entertainment, because it is a part of the human condition.
Now, the demographic is what matters. In a teen girl's comic book? It is entirely in the realm of possibility. In a romace "chick flick-like" story, maybe. I think I remember such themes in the japanese comic NaNa. And abortion, and teen pregnancies, etc etc.
In an action comic book aimed at both boys and girls? No.
[[" It is not a crime making such a book and if most people don't like it, it will not sell well. "
IT DOESN'T MATTER! These people don't care about money, they care about culture marxism]]]
It does matter. Any story can be made, and that is the freedom of being a creator. That doesn't mean that you can or should be published and sold nationwide. There are writing and art standards. And the industry is ignoring all that to fit their political agenda. That is the problem.
You can make this story and self publish it on print-on-demand, or in webcomic format. It is not a crime, it is not wrong. Let the public decide for themselves if they like it. Let them do whatever they want, it is their freedom of expression.
The fault here lies with the executives and whoever lets them publish such garbage, without thinking of the people who already read comic books. The long time faithful audience.
Not everyone out there is an sjw. Women also want good stories and no politics in our escapism. But alienating new potential demographics (teen girls) will not help in the long run to keep the comic book hobby alive. You have to learn how to tell apart normal teenage girls who are confused and in a difficult stage in life and want to read a comic book that talks to them from Tumblerinas. This is why Shoujo manga is thriving right now.

I don't even know where to start with writing this comment: the disgusting, exaggerated portrayal of young girls' periods? The huge double standard Cain has for creating perverted art and calling it empowering? I don't even know. What I do want to say is that some people honestly think that women can't create anything wrong and the only thing that is holding them back in the art industry is the patriarchy. Well, to those people who do believe this, here's a woman in the industry who has made a grossly-obscene comic. Women can make great art just like men, but they can screw up like any other man too; people need to remember that.

I literally never posessed a shirt that said anything like that. This may be because I usually wear prints from franchises I like and never buy anything in a regular store, since you won't find a Hellsing-Shirt there for sure, but still.

To make a correction, fortunately, the girl who was stabbed by her "friends" in the name of Slenderman didn't die.
Also, I read her comments on what the series was supposed to be about, and it's all about how "Society makes girls feel shamed and dirty because of their periods blah blah blah."
Take several seats down girl. I grew up and still live in Big, Bad conservative Texas and had an evil mom who took me to a Baptist church. Oh Noes! Surely when I got my period, I was traumatized for life by everyone around me telling me how disgusting and horrible I was for getting it!
Except that didn't happen. Nothing even close to that happened. I was taught about menstruation before I hit puberty, about how to use pads and make sure I stay CLEAN. Sanitary products are provided in the food pantry of the church and are left in the ladies bathroom hurt in case. Severe PMS symptoms are seen as a valid reason to miss church, as my friend has PCOS and is often out of commission for a few days when she gets her period.
    CONSERVATIVE. CHRISTIAN. TEXAS.
The only reason I can see her thinking that women are in any way shamed for having periods is because most people don't like hearing about your unsanitary bodily functions period, much less "OMG I JUST BLED FROM MY COOCH EL OH EL!" Like, does she think it's socially acceptable for people to be like "You should have seen this chunky turd I just shat out," or " Man I woke up with a boner this morning and got this wicked jizz stain all over the front of my boxers" or "I blew my nose and got this big green snot blob in my tissue."
If I hear you saying any of those things in public, I'm gonna try to get away from you as fast as I can.
    No.

for me it's normal to be obsessed by menstrual blood. it's sooo annoying, and it hurts so much the first days. sometimes it even makes me vomit, and i'm not the only one that it does that too. i really wanted to be a man during my teenage years JUST to avoid menstrual blood. one time, i remember in high school, i almost fainted just because of it. so, i think it's quite unfair to compare it to wet dreams. it's more like... being sick one time each month without being able to complain and take a day out because it happens each month!!

      2 things
      1) if you are experiencing particularly harsh cramps that lead to vomiting you may have a specific condition called endometriosis. I suggest you speak to a doctor because you may in fact be suffering a more harsh period than average that may cause damage to your uterus. Many women don't know they have this because they are told that all periods are painful and that there's is just as bad as everyone else when in truth it is much more serious.
      2) Do you want to talk about the blood all the time, feed it to people, and force everyone to look at it while not wearing a tapon? If not you probably don't talk about it all the time like these people. It's a bit unnerving and very unsanitary.

    • @izunahosaki6133

@@matthewcoyle4131 no i don't want to talk about it all the time, or feed it to people or... Anything else haha. That'd be just weird. but in the same time i do think that there's a bit of a taboo around it, at least in my origin country. I don't know how it is in America. Like, you can only talk about it with other girls, not boys. You can't even tell your dad when you have it. But isn't it a normal thing to have? Why do we have to lie and say we're sick because of another reason? I think some extreme feminists take this problem too far and hurt the cause by doing that, because it's really not that big of a problem in the end. You get used to it...but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem.
Anyway thanks for your information :) i'll look into it.
