If anyone is scared to leave a church of organization because of threats, ostracization etc..YOU ARE IN A CULT.
I left my Baptist church 4 years ago and no one in that church today will talk to me. So it works in regular church's as well. Being shunned!!!!
They should also be judged by their doctrine. And their doctrine is false. They don't believe that Jesus is God.
The fear is in the prospect of leaving due to the shunning policy. Those who leave will loose their entire network of family and friends within the organization. That unscriptural policy alone classifies the WT organization a cult. There is no honorable way out of this religion.

Thank you for sharing your touching & encouraging experience. I was baptized in 1972 & was disfellowshipped in 2017. My son committed suicide after he was disfellowshipped., leaving a wife & two little children. Two of my sons are elders & my daughter is getting baptized in April. They can’t talk to me because they want to remain loyal to Jehovah. I have been severely depressed in my old age with all my lifelong, so-called friends & family shunning me. I could go back to regain my family, but I am awake now & could not stomach listening to lies & watching fake love displayed. I woke up when I heard during the ARCommision the brother say he would be presumptuous to think we were the only religion dispensing truth. What a shocker! To think that as a loyal follower I was prepared to give my life for what I believed was true. You & your wife are no doubt helping many others wake up. Once again thank you. I will share your story.

Reading yours and many others experiences is sickening. How profound the psychological distress and manipulation that lead people to take their own lives is staggering. It’s heartbreaking to read this happened to your son, the loss for you and his family is utterly grievous. My ex-husband tried taking his life a few times after being disfellowshipped, leaving long lasting deep emotional scars.

Worry sorry to hear that I too have family in the organization my brother is an elder he and my sister and dying for e to covert but I always refuse my nephew left the organization had a daughter and thank god his mother who is a visit see er son and granddaughter in secret of course.
It’s an amazing thing that many long term witnesses are now leaving the Organisation.
I myself left in 2022 after 30 years in the Organisation and 10 years as a regular pioneer.
I decided to publish my story in a UA-cam video.

I’m thankful that Joel and his wife have each other. My husband and I left the JW Cult in 2015. We were subsequently ostracized by family and thousands of friends we had known over a 50+ year history. While living in an isolated in a rural area, my husband died of cancer in 2021 at the age of 62. I’m now met with the challenge of rebuilding my personal social circle and spiritual community. In working through the effects of shunning, grieving, isolation and the ripple-effect of slander, I’ve found solitude and isolation to be the greatest challenge. With the constant compassion and companionship of my Heavenly Father and his Son, I’m blessed to enjoy the fellowship of genuinely Christian people who are faithful in their attentiveness towards me. Praise God for his faithfulness and provisions!

Excellent video, Joel testimony “hits home”. I walked away from the “Jehovah Witnesses cult” 35 yrs ago: I was a ministerial “slave” servant and an auxiliary pioneer (60 hrs per month), and I fled away, no letters, no explanations, no sitting on judicial committees, no “good byes” … I just unplugged myself, and never been happier. No more wonderlands stories!

The only thing they weren’t able to control in me was that I obtained a college degree and worked in the IT area and thanks to that I have a good pension because The watchtower hasn’t given me a penny not even when I needed it in bad times!

Thank you Joel for this testimony about your experiences. My father recently died. He was a Presiding overseer in Tampa Florida, and refused to listen to the teachings of Jesus, rather he served the Governing Body.
I was saddened for many years to have been ostracized by my father. My family, my wife, my daughter, my sister and my niece were all ostracized as well. My father refused to listen to the things I spoke to him, same things you Joel have spoken of about the Governing Body. Truly, from its inception, the Watchtower society has been an Apostate and an antichist. I was born in, 4th generation. I had absolutely no choice about being in the religion. I had a choice when I was approached by the elders about being appointed an elder, I refused. I told them I refuse to serve with men who are cowards, and who refuse to shepherd the flock of Christ in a fine manner. Thank you Joel

My father refused to become an elder again too because he said his conscience wouldn’t allow him to take part in disfellowshipping. He is a very kind man But unfortunately he is still a members . It’s all very sad.

My uncle is 88 and has been in there as a MS, an elder for 65 years. He is fully into it, full blind believer in the Governing body! I visited him last Sunday and told me that an elder visited him the day before (Saturday)!/and explained about the new dressing and grooming policy. The elder told him that the reason is that Jehovah wants to protect his people because of the great tribulation that will be coming soon and one way is to blend within the masses to confuse the enemy.
However my uncle said it disturbed him the change of dress code and more the explanation of the elder- it didn’t make sense to him! He has been waiting for the tribulation and waits for the attack of the enemy and he isn’t scared of men!
So at his age, he is thinking and reasoning! So I’m confident that manny can also think and wake up!!!

Thank you Joel. I left and sent a letter to the Society with the same information. I photo copied all the documentation, there was a lot of paper in the envelope. I formally resigned as a Jehovah's Witnesses. I was in my 50's. I never heard anything back. While I still believed that this was Gods Organization, I pioneered, and lived by their book. It was a shock for me to find out about their double life. So much dirt under their carpet. You are a good example to people of any age.

Much dirt under the carpet and so much blood in their hands (blood guilty)! (People have commuted suicides, died because of the prohibitions- Malawi in the 70s, child abusing by pedofilia and many other crimes)

Such well presented facts about the JW cult. Even though I had to turn up the volume to 100 and still had a difficult time hearing Joel's voice, what I did hear was right on point about their corrupt association with the UN and their business investments. I have a sister and a niece who are strongly indoctrinated and, even though I've tried to open their eyes, refuse to see the GB as the evil slave and the horror of their disfellowshipping practice. I thank Jehovah that I came across Eric's videos that really opened my eyes and got the heavy burden of that false religion off my back.

What a powerful testimony! My heart breaks for those bound by the lies of the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society. I was raised as a JW by my parents from the age of 4. The fallout from the false prophecy of 1975 destroyed most of my peers; I was 18 years old when “the end” didn’t happen as we were warned about. Many of my friends became addicted to drugs and alcohol, and became involved in self-destructive behaviors. Several of my friends spiraled out of control. Some overdosed on drugs and died. Others were disfellowshipped, shunned, or shamed by their families and by the elders of their congregations. My parents essentially disowned me. I had a radical encounter with Jesus on October 28, 1984. I recognized that He was totally misrepresented by the Witness organization. He is incredibly gracious, loving, and forgiving. I dedicated my life to Him that night & have had an incredible experience loving Him, learning from Him, and sharing His truth with those who are searching for THE REAL TRUTH…and The Way, and The Life! It is very hard for many to leave because they will lose their entire social network due to being shunned, as you say, they stay out of fear. We do know that the Bible teaches us not to fear the false prophet, who will be killed, and who has a terrible angry temper (Deuteronomy 18:22). The Governing is a false prophet over and over again.

Hi Joel. You can thank God that he has saved you and set you free. To save someone it sometimes hurts, like to save someone drowning in the ocean it may hurt them a bit to pull them into a boat . Cutting out a big splinter may also hurt, or having a bad tooth pulled out, all will cause some pain. Well God has pulled us out of a fire, we did get burned a bit, but that is nothing compared to what will happen to those not pulled out.

I spent 3 years studying the organisation, reading the early church fathers which they (mis) quote when it suits and criticise when it doesn't. I read the bible with scholarly commentary and have been set free with the truth of Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ set me free. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. World without end. Amen.

The sad part is that so many ex jws are in such despair because of the deceit become atheists.. They very often cannot believe that Jesus is God.. My suggestion is they obtain a KJ or NKJ. Bible ( there are others ) because I see them to be very reliable. Many versions deny the Virgin birth, the deity of Christ, the power in the Blood of Jesus, the bodily resurrection and more. So if you read and great and pray for understanding and ask Jesus to be your saviour if you are genuinely seeking.. You will find the truth and be full if joy..

My Mom and Brother are still involved and I so wish I was able to share the real truth about JW's. Unfortunately that would label me as an apostate. I find it unbelievable to be involved with any group, religious or otherwise where you are not allowed to look into the facts and do research unless it comes from that group. I was baptized in 1987, I became an elder in 1984 and remained in the position until 2018... since 2002 I discovered that I was deceived so I continued to observe how they deceived people and guided the elders through letters to do the dirty work... so I moved to the USA and left without giving satisfaction... I'm from Brazil and I share with you the same pain and suffering for not having my brothers and friends by my side
I have never even been a Jehovah's Witness and I still cried when an ex-JW from Denver put a gun in his mouth and blew his head off. This happened because his family treated him like dirt when he wanted to show them things he found out about the organization. He didn't even want to live anymore! 😢

the thing I am impressed with about Joel, is at 89 he can read without reading glasses, holy cow! He reminds me of the account in Ezekial ch 8 where Ez was told to bore a hole in the temple and look inside at what was going on. I often wondered what we would see if told to bore a hole in Bethel and look into the finance and legal dept. Apparently a lot of JWs have done just that and had a huge OMG moment, just like Joel.
This was very encouraging to listen to. We are truely going through an Awakening and God bless those that stand for Truth. Love conquers all!
It meant so much on a personal family level and in regard to the same trauma bonds I had with JW's when at the end Joel mentioned that ' these people will pay for it', the damage, the alcoholism the drug addiction, the wasted lives.

Thanks for sharing. After being a third generation Jehovah’s Witness and coming out it’s such a blessing now. I get to heal ex Jehovah’s Witnesses from sorrow, sadness, grief, resentment, unforgivness, by means of my mobile clinic. I get to help reprogram their mind set and hearts.
What a courageous man for sharing the truth about “the truth.” Now I would implore current and former JWs who watched this heartfelt testimony to read and immerse yourselves into the Bible alone (not the corrupted NWT) with a fresh perspective. For those of you who have left, this indicates you to be intelligent people completely capable of understanding the scriptures without many of the governing body’s erroneous interpretations of essential Christian doctrines.

Jehovah's Witnesses are a religion run by men who have claimed to speak in God's name, but who in reality besmirch God's name by their false teachings and hypocrisy. In this way, they are like the Pharisees of Jesus' day who claimed to be God's only representatives, yet were capable of actually murdering God's Son. Jehovah is not the Organization of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Remember Jesus' prophetic warning:
“Men will expel you from the [kingdom hall]. In fact, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think he has offered a sacred service to [Jehovah].” (John 16:2) As true now as they were then.
I was born in 1958, so 66 years is the entirety of my time on earth. It astonishes me that a person could spend that much time inside the Watchtower organization - this is what motivated me to watch this video in the first place. I enjoyed Joel's articulate reminiscences.
You have given me the courage to end my involvement with JW’s. Fortunately, I didn’t recruit my family to become members of this religion. I always had my reservations about some of the beliefs which could be so harmful. I never liked the cult like brainwashing and treatment when challenging what was in the publications. So many red flags! I am finished being silent and silenced.
I refused to have their demons in my home..or the hall.I offered to sit I a park with whole body( about 12. males).

Unlike Joel, that did not want to be a part of hurting someone by disfellowshipping them, I knew many psychopath elders that relished in seeing someone suffer by disfellowshipping them. Many times, dictatorial elders wanted to disfellowship me, but they held back because I was very close to our Circuit Overseer. I eventually left, after personally witnessing psycho Governing Body members in New York. I also closely experienced many disgusting situations by rotten fruit elders, and other Jehovah's Witnesses.
I always wonder what those psycho elders (not all) do with the information given by the JW that commits adultery of fornicationBm! I heard they ask for intimate questions- totally disgusting !!!
The narcissist in my life used the elders like trained attack dogs.

True honesty of heart is SO important to one’s happiness. Our desire to know God leads us to seek His truth. It is refreshing to see those who see the real truth of religions that do not actually uphold the teachings that are outlined in the Bible. It makes me realize you want can put your ego aside to admit you have been wrong and make decisions to find your true happiness.

My dad was a faithful witness for over 50 years. After my mom passed, he stepped down from being an elder. On his death bed 2 years later he said shunning was wrong. It was a man made rule. That made my heart happy to hear him admit that. Who knows what else he disagreed with but didn't get to tell us before he died. 😮
