Thanks Derek. It is a great reminder that even on cloudy days there are possibilities for photographs. It seems that patience and waiting for fleeting moments of sun to appear helps.
Very true!
Its near easy to take nice photos even with good light from where I stay. Its surrounded with concrete block, tinted glass, poluted sound and lights. But I still keep trying to shoot something different something that many might think only archi or nightscape is possible. Its a blessing that you live around such a beautyful nature. Nice presentation for dull light photography.
Thank you for your comments. Although I live in a town, it is on a hill and surrounded by beautiful countryside. We have good transport links too, enabling me to explore further afield in a day.
I have come to realize that the Hyp-Focal distance can be the difference between an average vs. VIP view. Thanks so much for this video, sir!
Thank you, I agree!
Norfolk dunes? My back yard.
Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire actually, taken a few days before Lockdown.
@@DerekForss my mistake. Looks like a photo I took in norfolk.
Sky replacement in Photoshop sorts it just nicely
It may not be everyone’s criteria, but in my work it is important to offer a high degree of reality. Publishers do not like over-Photoshopped images. A blue sky with no shadows on the landscape, not to mention the colour difference, would not go down well. Beware of fake pictures! It would give me a reputation that I would not like.
I look forward to your videos not only to learn but to marvel at the beauty of the landscapes. England is so beautiful! I liked the Lincoln Castle image that was a bit soft on the left and loved the other Lincoln Castle image with the Cathedral in the background because it had that 3-D effect again as well as being pin sharp! Wow! Where did you focus with that image? That was amazing! Great advice and please accept my thanks.
Sean
Hello Sean, thank you as ever for your generous comments. Regarding Lincoln Cathedral from the Castle, I used the hyperfocal distance to manually bring the focus point forward to around 50 feet. This I failed to do in the previous image that is not completely sharp. My earlier programme on focussing with the 12-100 Pro Lens explains this technique at 05:39. Here is the link: -

Wonderfull images Derek, you have a wealth of experience, I try to put your advice into practice, in my clumsy way. To turn a "snapshot" into a artfull photograph takes thought, time & a bit of patience.
Thank you , patience is indeed the true hallmark of landscape photography. I wish you good fortune.
@@DerekForss Thank you, pity your not doing "workshop,s", I,d sign up as a dedicated Olympus user.
I retired from running Photo-holidays in November 2019 and then along came the pandemic! I don't know where you live, but I live south of London in Surrey and can offer 1-2-1 traditional photo-tuition. You may find this link to my website of interest: -
