I think I saw Flight of the Navigator and Space Camp in the 1980's and I haven't really thought about either movie since then. That is, except for the fact that there was a real space camp at Huntsville or something.

Check out Captain Disillusion's review of Flight of the Navigator. A lot more technical stuff was done that you might think - ua-cam.com/video/tyixMpuGEL8/v-deo.html (40 minutes, so plan accordingly)
The Captain Disillusion doc is very good. Highly recommended. He breaks it all down and is was indeed a technical masterpiece. I think it doesn't seem that way because of how good it actually was. At the time, people not in the industry but in the know, were impressed. The VFX wizards on that film used every trick in the book and innovated a few of their own to achieve those results. I was thoroughly amazed to learn about it all. You shan't be disappointed.
Being born in the mid 80's', this movie was my childhood! My dad recorded it on a VHS tape from the Disney Channel and I damn near wore the tape out. Thank you for reacting to it!

11:24 - BLANCMANGE. English synth-pop band formed in Harrow, London, in 1979. The band were a duo for much of their career, comprised of Neil Arthur (vocals) and Stephen Luscombe (keyboards). They came to prominence in the early 1980s, releasing four UK top-20 singles: "Living on the Ceiling", "Waves", "Blind Vision" and "Don't Tell Me".
A fun, sweet movie. Just sit back and enjoy! And as I thought about it, the voice of Max was excellent, acting as a friend, teacher, and protector. You could hear it in his delivery. RIP Pee-Wee Herman!

I remember the effects in this looked good in the 80's and its a nice kids movie. The cgi holds up well, shiny chrome sells the effect convincingly. As others have said more good 80's movies. Innerspace, Batteries not included, Short Circuit and Explorers.
Another great reaction. Some more family friendly films from the 80s i love are Explorers (1985), Space Camp (1986), Harry and the Hendersons (1987), Starman (1984), Cocoon (1985), Cocoon-The Return (1989), The Secret of N.I.M.H. (1982), Flash Gordon (1980), Labyrinth (1986), Legend (1985), The Dark Crystal (1982), Willow (1988), Howard the Duck (1986), My Stepmother is an Alien (1988), Time Bandits (1981). Just a few suggestions for future watches 😀.
I'd forgotten that Sarah Jessica Parker was in this movie. She was also in "Footloose" and "Girls just Wanna have Fun", which I also recommend checking out.
She did her parts in the film just for a paycheck. She refuses to acknowledge fans of the film if she is asked and has been filmed on Entertainment Tonight that she clearly does not remember what the movie was about.
@@jasonseipler2665 He's much better. He went to inpatient rehab and therapy and has even started taking acting classes. He's been hitting the convention circuit with his co-stars and has been doing really well.
Saw this movie with my dad when it made its way to the dollar theaters in the 80s. This and The Boy Who Could Fly and The Last Starfighter were some of my favorite movies at the time.
it's be even weirder if in that movie he was an old man looking out his old room just waiting for his younger self to show up "welcome home David", and knowing the future in what he could do, that he might travel back too far as one of the paths to take
If you'er interested in another 80's movie with this vibe, I highly recommend "Explorers" 1985. Directed by Joe Dante with River Pheonix, and Ethan Hawk.
Fun Fact: Veronica Cartwright who portrays the mom (Helen Freeman) in this movie also portrayed Cathy Brenner in Hitchcock’s The Birds. She was also in Alien as Lambert, the Nostromo's navigator. It’s nice to see her in this movie.
I love this movie! I've watched it more times than I can count since I was a kid. The mystery, adventure, humor...AND THE SOUNDTRACK! I can listen to Robot Romp on repeat for hours! Absolute classic!
I always loved this movie, though as an adult, the first half involving David returning to his family, only to find that eight years have passed, and he's the exact same age, much to his understandable confusion, to be stronger than the second half. But then again, flying in a spaceship would appeal more to kids than the sci Fi thriller aspect.
My parents took me to see this in the theatre when it came out. I was 9. Added fuel to the fire of my growing love for sci-fi. Thanks for the memories. I have been a cinephile since birth 😉
I was 11 when this came out! Our family decided to move to Vancouver Island from Ontario! Me, my mom and my sis! We drove there like 3,000 kms and mom made me navigator! A great memory and a great movie! Miss the 80's!
Watched all the time as a kid but haven't seen in around 25 years. Really weird recalling every line buried in my memory all this time later. Thanks for helping me unlock some of my brains puny 10% Jen! 😄
God I'd forgotten how much I adore this film. This and Last Starfighter were the G rated part of my childhood sci-fi addiction. For many years I shot back with some variant of "Sorry?! You called me a geek!!"
Brilliant Jen❤️I was just 9 when this was 1st released and I still remember it like yesterday, I was completely captivated by it, I was a similar age to the main character and of course this was absolutely going to happen to me too😂😂👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This is one of my favorite films from the 80s. And I love how the movie tricks the viewer twice at the beginning, first with the silver frisbee disk and then with the airship. Both times you think is that the UFO? And then a short time later a third time with the water tower.
One of the best movies of all time to me. One of the few fond memories I have from childhood, was when this would come on tv. So glad someone is reacting to it. Who’s on the “batteries not included” scene with me?!
RIP Paul Reubens - voice of Max. My most favourite scene is of course with the song I get around. Great kids movie, but I saw as an adult...and I felt like little kid again.
I've suggested this to a few reactors but I think this is the first actual reaction. Pioneering CGI (before T2) and referenced at the end of Galaxy Quest where they use the fireworks. The story behind the CGI (and the non-CGI effects that look CGIish) is pretty interesting too.
The mother was played by Veronica Cartwright (Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds") and her younger sister, Angela Cartwright, was in "The Sound of Music" and the 1960's TV series "Lost in Space".
@@ermagerd8306 I just realized something. Lambert was the last person killed by the xenomorph in _Alien._ Both women outlasted the men. That's unusual for horror films.
Still one of my favourite movies of all time. I was around 7 when I first saw this (on VHS, with the rest of the family watching), so about the perfect age. I love the score by Alan Silvestri, too.
Watched this on repeat as a kid. Cool to see modern appreciation of it. :) If you're up for some 80s animated features, I'd suggest _The Secret of NIMH,_ _The Last Unicorn_ or _The Flight of Dragons._
I watched this when I was young, and I got caught up in it. There were no hidden messages here, just a movie that you felt comfortable watching, and made you feel happy. I liked revisiting this with you, thanks.
I thought Brave Little Toaster got something absurd like 13 sequels? Only ever saw the first one myself though. I just seem to remember it getting almost as much sequel overload as Land Before Time did. Only ever saw the first one of that as well. But I think it got something insane like 15 sequels.

A fun kids move is Adventures in Babysitting starring Elizabeth Shue.
Being a sci fi fan I loved this picture for the ship, it morphed in so many ways. great movie. I watched it on Cinemax many times.
God I'd forgotten how much I adore this film. This and Last Starfighter were the G rated part of my childhood sci-fi addiction. For many years I shot back with some variant of "Sorry?! You called me a geek!!"
D.A.R.Y.L would also be a cool flick to react to.
Brilliant Jen❤️I was just 9 when this was 1st released and I still remember it like yesterday, I was completely captivated by it, I was a similar age to the main character and of course this was absolutely going to happen to me too😂😂👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽
OH the 80s! Somewhat the same feel, my suggestion is ' Hanger 18 ' a little darker though. Thanks Jen,fantastic as always!
"Cloak and Dagger" is a great adventure movie from the 80s!
Veronica also played Lambert in Alien. She was very underrated.
And Alien.
The Dad, played by Cliff De Young, played Brad Majors in Shock Treatment the "sequel" to Rocky Horror
Paul Reubens, aka Pee Wee Herman, is the voice of Max. The credits lists him as Paul Mall.
Watched this on repeat as a kid. Cool to see modern appreciation of it. :)
If you're up for some 80s animated features, I'd suggest _The Secret of NIMH,_ _The Last Unicorn_ or _The Flight of Dragons._
Saw this one in theaters! A lot of fun! God, im OLD! LOL
I watched this when I was young, and I got caught up in it. There were no hidden messages here, just a movie that you felt comfortable watching, and made you feel happy. I liked revisiting this with you, thanks.
This movie was a staple in my childhood home. I remember watching it with my dad, who I miss terribly.
"Brave little Toaster"
"The Good Son"
You seem to like obscure movies.
I thought Brave Little Toaster got something absurd like 13 sequels? Only ever saw the first one myself though. I just seem to remember it getting almost as much sequel overload as Land Before Time did. Only ever saw the first one of that as well. But I think it got something insane like 15 sequels.
@@MuljoStpho No. Brave Little Toaster on got two sequels. "Goes to Mars" and "To The Rescue" Obviously neither as good as the original.
*The Good Son* (1993), I think, would make for a good reaction.
Radio plays opera, "that's not music." Meanwhile, Martian brains explode.
I thought it was yodeling that had that effect.
@@jessodum3103 true..... But that's all they tried..
"Explorers" and "Inner Space" should tickle your fancy
Thanks for reaction Jen . It's one of my favourites as a kid .
Back when we could stay out late, play on the railroad tracks, hike down the cable line easement for miles, build tree forts and underground forts. We built a raft and shoved off down river, until it sank a dozen yards into the trip - Good Times.
This reaction brought back some emotions that I didn’t think existed in me anymore.
9:00 "Appears to be seemless." As they stand next to a seem.
