  • Overlanding The Nxai Pan Botswana Episode 1
    In this episode we are overlanding with Ed and Chris to Botswana, The Nxai Pan, in the rainy season, looking for predator encounters. We stop over 2 nights at Khama Rhino Sanctuary, 6 nights in the Nxai Pan Reserve, 2 nights at Xumaga Campsite, and then on the way back a night at Khama Rhino Sanctuary .
    This part covers an epic trip towing the off-road trailers, on new roads and in new areas as we share our overlanding escape. The last time I camped at Nxai Pan, I was 9 years old with my dad, so this was all the more special.
    Thank you Ed and Chris, simply epic trip gents.

    Hi great video.. Concerning the park rules in Botswana, its forbidden to get out of your vehicle in ungazetted areas of the park for your safety, but the parks have a lot of rest areas which are basically a cleared small piece sometimes with a toilet and then there are view points where you are allowed to get out and view animals from outside the car but with caution. Viewpoints are most just an elevated part of park or a sandy shore with lots of space or a clear area with low bushes or near water holes with clear views away from trees. They are written on park guides or leafleats.. regards

    Hi Guys! Trank you for your great vids of my beloved Africa, espesially Botswana, I used to visit at least twice a year before the pandemic started... By the way: its definitively forbitten to step out of your vehicle in Botswana’s National Parks already for many years! - Just check the rules at every gate of each NP! Animals are used to travellers at the campsites and therefore it should be more safe there.
    All the best to you and keep on doing, what you do and stay healthy!

    Hey 4x4 Ventures.
    Ryan, thanks for the amazing video! Well done, you can tell how much work has gone into this.
    Regarding restrictions of getting out of vehicles in Botswana - within National Parks, it is not permitted for visitors to get out of their vehicles in undesignated areas, like campsites, rest stops, etc. There is a trend for people to do it, as you may be far from civilization and other visitors, it may be quiet where you stop and they may not be any dangerous wildlife around, but technically you are not allowed to.
    A lot of it comes down to common sense, and it won't harm anyone if you do jump out of your vehicle for a coffee or to stretch your legs along the way, but remember that this sets a trend for others if they pass you and you are out of your vehicle. Also, different groups of travellers have vastly different levels of experience in the bush, on foot. Due to this, there is a blanket rule for everyone.
    Hope this helps, and look forward to the next episode.

One over the other would be based on ones specific usage needs. They are both great trailers and very capable off road. I would buy a conqueror trailer again, but, there are teething issues with their trailers that personally I don’t think should be the case for the amount they cost. Good luck and hope this helps

    If you are not sure whether you will be excited and start wondering around during the game drive, the caution is you stay in the car especially during the times when the vegetation is thick, you are able to see dangerous animals even very close to your car. Dry seasons are much safer, visibility is brilliant.

    Would you say AT Tyres are better for Botswana or would you go Mud Terrain?

    • @4x4ventures_southafrica
      @4x4ventures_southafrica  4 роки тому +1

      Tricky question Jonathan, and thank you for your comment. My straight answer is Muds. However, the AT tyre is just as capable and more than up for the challenge. Less rolling resistance, harder compound suited for a 70% - 30% tar and dirt split, 3 ply side walls and strong. The KM3s are a beefy tyre and look great, strong and a very soft compound, which makes for amazing grip on tar, very flexible, and lots of traction in sand and mud. This comes at the cost of more road noise and higher amount of rolling resistance. Either choice is great, and you will be happy either way. KO2s last longer, 110k KMs and the KM3s 60k KMs. Enjoy and goodluck

    Botswana animals are wild, so please do stay in your vehicles, especially at night. Lions are known to pull people from tents so please stay inside and make sure you are secure.

      yes this are the regulations for national parks in Botswana. Some parks have them detail out on bill boards at the park entrances. I have seen some in Chobe National Park and Savuti.

  • @craigsparks1442
    @craigsparks1442 4 роки тому +1

    generally you can get out of your vehicle, but as the years have gone by it appears that Savuti has become more commercial as has Chobe, but the people that would harass you about being out of your vehicle would be the tour operators with a game drive vehicle full of tourists, this is usually just a show off act for the tourists... a quick and sharp "piss off" usually sends them on their way. I've never had any issues with the actual park officials.

    • @4x4ventures_southafrica

      Thanks Craig. So, it has been confirmed that getting out of your vehicle is not allowed as per park rules. However, and I say this with caution, nor do I condone it. I still get out of my vehicle, but stay within a 2m radius of the vehicle. I do this only when necessary and when alone. As always, if you have caution to the wilderness and respect for others I feel it poses no threat if done correctly. Stay safe out there. Thank you for your comment 🤟

      @@4x4ventures_southafrica Definitely not allowed out of vehicle outside designated stops and lookouts. People thinks its allowed because so many disobey regulations. multiple reasons rom safety, reduce chance of conflict, habitualisation, fire risks from vehicles leaving track to stop. etc
      but park regulations are available at entry gates, and its clear one may not leave the vehicle or collect firewood within the park, yet so many still do.
