I'd secure that balloon a little better honestly, maybe with a rubber band or something
@@dirtytapwater1374 the point is if it would "inflate" it could come off because of the pressure. Meaning he couldn't see the indication if that happens.
@@gcc2313 if it comes off that means its already making gasses tho? Lol like what
@@uwu1832 he wants to monitor when it stops producing gases though, because that's when fermentation is finished.
airlock for the win
it has a hole in it not the balloon but the lid has a small hole in it
If you boil the apples with one orange and a few cloves of cardamom with cinnamon it makes a beautiful flavor/aroma
Ooo I can just imagine that flavour. Tantalising. Fantastic idea! 😍👌
@@ashharijaywardena Its sooooo good. 10/10 would recommend.
Mmmm, I do this every fall with apple juice or fresh cider to make a hot mulled cider. The whole house smells divine!
Apple juice/cider, cloves, a cinnamon stick, and nutmeg. I'll have to try adding cardamom this year
@@bodyofhope oh man I totally forgot about nutmeg. I’ll make sure to put a dash of it in my hot apple cider! Also, I like substituting brown sugar with honey taste better to me
@@ashharijaywardena you
Not people actually being weirded out by you blending the seeds and cores while big cider mills and apple juice producers blend the whole apple including the stem and seeds 💀💀💀
@@Vel_D Cyanide is somewhat voletile so it slowly vaporizes out of water solutions.
I was actually about to ask comments "are the seeds actually included?" so thanks for this info. Guess I don't have to worry about mine lol I was just following how my grandma taught it to me before she passed.
@@Vel_D Don’t you need to eat like 600lbs. of seeds or something to actually reach a dangerous toxicity level?
I was thinking as much apples as he used did he just poison the juice by crushing the seeds and stems which contain poison? hmmmm
@@jamesharris5156 600lb of seeds... or a small handful of BLENDED seeds. But this diluted in the solution they do nothing, not even give an almond aftertaste
I highly recommend getting an airlock before that bad boy gets too bubbly! You’ll be degassing that ballooning every hour or it’ll keep popping off.
You gotta mix it 2-3 times a day for a week and use a towel as a lid with a rubber band and you don’t need yeast, after a week you put it in beer bottles in the refrigerator until you want to drink it and you gotta burp it everyday to not explode
Depending on the yeast you used, a lot of the malic acid may be digested and it won't very much like apples in the end. I would recommend getting some malic acid, apple juice concentrate, or more apples to add in slices to the cider after it's finished primary
I mean generally acv doesn’t really taste much like apples imo
Wait i mean apple cider not acv my bad
@@happuhelon Flavors of real things like fruit are are a complicated mess, and fermentation fundamentally changes a lot of those things. Brewers typically define fruit flavors by proportions of tartaric, citric, and malic acids.
@@ninetyone9191 oh yeah definitely, and in this case using L-malic which are typically derived from green apple will probably be a game changer. But to be honest I don’t know enough about ciders to say if they’re usually enhanced with additional ingredients
How do I get natural malic acid into my mix? Im going to juice apples like him
That balloon will fly off quickly I predict
From My experience with a rubber balloon needs to be washed very thoroughly before you use it. otherwise it will make your cider taste very funky because they have a powder inside the balloon to keep it from sticking together when not in use.
you use voice typing?
@@firstletterofthealphabet7308 ?
@@Big-il5bk “side or taste”.
*cider taste
you should use a needle to poke holes in the balloon so air can escape, I haven't had any problems with anything getting in because of it
You would need to eat around 80 apple seeds in one day to experience any negative effects, and a lot more in order to cause death. I think it'll be okay
Right bruhh....i was like wtf you're doin??take out SEEDS of the apple they are POISONOUS!!!!!
@@jyotisonawane2779 I was literally saying the opposite of this, but to each their own. There's not enough of the seeds in his fermentation process to make someone sick, let alone pass away.
@@jyotisonawane2779 can you read?
Looks good
Bro, I'm pretty sure it's apple season everywhere
Generally, for apple cider, I just let the yeast that hitched a ride on the apple skin do the fermenting. Not the most reliable but sees to work out well enough.
I think that’s how sourdough and kimchi are made as well, at least that’s how we did it in my microbiology class
Dude that balloon trick is genius
Thanks for the helpful pointers!
Pro tip: don't use wine yeast on a cider. You can add raw apple slices for yeast, or you can probably find a specialised yeast for ciders.
It's apple season in Canada and I've never seen them more expensive.
Temp control is paramount to get the correct flavor when using yeast, keep it at or around 64f for most yeasts
Next time if sterilising anny dont use ur hands to extract fluids. Will get unwanted bacteria in
She calls me apple the way I be in cider
Do you include the seeds? Dont they have a negligible amt of cyanide?
Do you know what negligible means? You would have to eat literally thousands of seeds to ingest a deadly amount of cyanide
Exactly, negligible. You would have to eat many thousands of seeds in 1 sitting to get remotely sick.
@@pulkitgupta5367 congrats on being misinformed. Each seed has a different amount of cyanide so it can be anywhere from ~80 to ~500
the balloon trick is awesome!
The balloon with drop the pH of the solution and kill the yeast prematurely. Trapping the CO2 with reintroduce it into the water as carbonic acid, the water lock allows the CO2 to leave - it also allows the oxygen to dissipate overtime to prevent oxidative degradation
Also grinding the seeds will add a bitter flavour
That's a cool technic to sterilize the jar. I would have never thought of that.
Guess what we do in India during apple season
"we eat"
Get an airlock it’ll save your life and you’ll have a lot of fun fermenting things. It’ll make the process so much easier and visibly allow you to measure the rate of CO2 production.
Alternative method to the balloon: Get a plastic tube that is cleaned out and sterilized, then secure it to the container on one end then have that run down to a glass half full of water, all the air will go in there and any insects attracted by the scent (like wine flies)and you can also see when the fermentation proses is done when there is no bubbles left. Then leave it for like a day just to make sure that there is no bubbles left and to insure that everything is done fermenting.
You can naturally ferment it without the yeast added in, I guess if you don't have the patience wine yeast works
Secure the threading of the lid with pipe(thread) tape and use rubber band at the tip of the balloon
The iPhone sale will be fire as it is apple season
Fermentation will generate several times the volume of CO2 as the original liquid. A typical gallon of 5% beer generates about 20 gallons of CO2. It will vary based on sugar content and attenuation. Get an airlock or get ready to burp that balloon regularly.
At first I thought he was talking abou the phone🤣
Aren’t the seeds supposed to be taken out?
My question too. Pls reply if anyone knows if this makes a diff or not
You need like 50 apples for it to be toxic
It's fine, you would need to eat an industrial amount to get sick
(some people don't like the taste but it's not a healtj issue)
I need a kitchenaid now. So versatile.
Looking forward to see how this turns out
Remove seeds from apple. They have small portions of cyanide
When the balloon is filled doesn't mean it's done fermenting..
didn't even check to see if the yeast was alive
This looks wonderful 😃😊
Do you know what variety of apples you used?
Just stuff from the market.
Thank you I want to make it now for my horses
You dont need yeast, just keep it cold and dark. It takes a while but its so good
excited
Fermented fruit feels frisky, cider for autumn.
What are you doing in Korea? Southern Korea? Are you working or are you a student? What are you doing in Korea?
I like the irony of steam sterilizing your container while working with unsterilized apple juice
Professor be like : just to know the recipe not for the heist 😂
Connect a tube to the vent hole and put the tube underwater in a jar or glass next to it next time
Dude why the seeds
its apple wine season here in southern appalachia
Please use an airlock.. For the love of god
Yum! How many of these containers do you have?
I had no idea kitchen aid had a juicer attachment
that some apple moonshine
Thanks for the tip with the balloon
You need an alcohol seal valve. It can get contaminated through the opening. Maybe not super likely but why risk it? It costs maybe $5
Dude.. smile
ooo i got a juicer from my mom... definitely wanna try this out now
if you add honey and a different yest you can make meed
Didn’t know you could juice apples with the seeds. Never looked it up, but heard seeds were toxic
Very weakly, you'd need quite a few to kill or even make you sick, research yourself tho
Cyanide
Yeah but you need a lot of seeds for it to be toxic
If I told you coffee is toxic are you then going to stop drinking coffee for the rest of your life? Honestly you shouldn’t believe everything you hear without doing research and expanding your knowledge on it because that’s how you start to lead an ignorant life. Factually speaking, coffee can kill you -> but look it up and you’ll find the real truth.

Why this drink always reminds me 'professor'
Where did you get that glass container???
If you pone holes with a pin. It acts like a water lock letting gas escape
Picked me own apples for 3/4 the price of the store. They grow apples here but they were much cheaper 1000 miles away :/
Bro now your name is Johnny Appleseed 🤯
Can you use the apple scraps to make a jam or jelly?
When I get apples in bulk I save the skins and cores to make an amazing jelly! That way nothing goes to waste!
You can use them to make vinegar. YT has a lot of videos on how to do it.
I'd recommend taking out all the seeds just tastes better
This dude just grinned apples with seeds......
Crushed apples seeds contains cyanide
In my experience there is 0 need for yeast for apple cider... just wait 4 months
Just cause there's no gas doesn't mean it's done fermentation
Isn't it deadly to juice a bunch of apple without removing the seeds first?
Yeah!! looking for that comment
Don't you need a lot of seeds for us to be toxic?
You need a lot of seeds to actually do any harm. But yes they do have a bit of cyanide in them
You would need around 40 apples
But about half that dose could make you feel sick so if he has 18 - 25 apples here could get sick but he wouldn't die
@@cheshire8767 only 18 apple cores worth.
I will never do anything you so but I enjoy watching your Videos:)
You can’t juice apple seeds they have cyanide in them.
Go to an orchard that makes cider and tell them that.
Wow, do you travel back and forth between countries when videoing?
There is no apple season in India
Twelve months everyday Apple is available
Can we use any type of yeast? Is normal baking yeast fine?
Is getting organic apples a given or do you have to shop for them especially
Can it be done without yeast?
its also apple season hear in the us my apple tree has a bunch of apples maybe I'll try this
Is apple season is here in nys 🔥
I've been pressing apple cider (not fermented, just unpasteurized apple juice) with my family for years and years with an old fashioned American cider press and we just put the ENTIRE apples in there. No heat all seeds all good!
The yeast same as used for bread? Instant yeast?
Oh , thats so cool
Discovery is the best apple
How many days will this process take time??
must only be cheap in the country side,,, at every 시장 in seoul it’s 5개 만원,,, i eat apples everyday as it’s my favorite fruit but ive never seen them this expensive in korea
No comments, just suggestions lmaooo
I've always wanted to visit South Korea.
DID YOU CRUSH THE SEEDS
Does washing them not remove their natural yeast??
Aing Teu ngarti euy bahasana!!!!
THE SEEDS THO BRO U GON DIIE
Wait where's the next part??
hell yeah hard cider
how many days to keep it for complition?
I’m subscribing to see how this turns out
where did you get the jar.
Way to much headspace for fermentation
Use the drip set instead of balloon. And the other end should be dipped in water
I thought i was Ben shapiro as voice actor 🤣🤣 but then felt his tempo is too slow 🤣
