Best quote: " I get country when I get nervous." - at 5:10 Favorite shot at 13:08. Maybe favorite missed shot at 12:48 - that smile! Seriously gorgeous. This was such a great video to watch. The format, the friendly competition, and the good times had by all. It would have been great to be a fly on those walls. Thank you for sharing, Mr. Gray. All the best and don't stop.
Loved this Mike!! I really want to try using strobes for the first time but I’ve been really nervous. After viewing you and others using them in this video and your others, I think i’m finally going to make the jump and try it out! Can’t wait for your next video
That was great to watch. Both photographers did their job well. The guy have to shoot with 1/30 of second, that is not so easy. Congratulation that it worked so well. I like the photos of both, really. Greets from germany
Thanks for taking the 'challenge' suggestion. Pressure busts pipes. But it also makes diamonds - Sarah Ellen and Alec! The Ilford b&w and the Pentax 67 were my winner -- excellent compositions and detail.
as soon the strobe came out I got so excited. I laughed out loud when the strobe didn't fire the first shot. I think that's just a rite of passage with shooting a strobe with the Pentax 67. Everyone has it happen to them at least once haha.
Intro absolutely threw me off and caught my attention, you never cease to amaze Mike, absolutely love your work my man, been following for over a year now.
Yo, they CRUSHED it. Straight up. Crushed. Bravo. Alec, the black & white shots. FIRE. Especially that hero shot. Beautiful. Very interesting that the photographer with the studio camera didn't use strobes and the one with the difficult camera to use strobes with, went. with the strobes. They slayed it though. I loved with Sarah came up with, her concept and poses. On point. But I vibed with Alec's a little more because of the black & white shots. Congratulations to both. They raised the bar for future challenges, imo.
I legit thought something was wrong with my desktop during the intro lol 😄 They both came out with some fire 🔥 Can't tell their photos were captured in less than 15 minutes👏
If you like the 105mm, wait until you try the 150mm 2.8 for portraits 😌😌👌🏾👌🏾. Each photographer had their own style. My favorite image was the one in the archway with the old TV. That brought back some memories for me.
@@kavanlake871 the 165 is big, heavy and hard to focus wide open, but damn if it's good!!! Sharp as a razor and with an incredibile three-dimensionality
Hey Mike. Great vid. Intense! Question: are the shots coming out of camera with verticals of the walls and background elements completely accurate as shown? If so, what method guide are you guys all using to get them perfect?
Whilst I like what both photographers produced, I feel that Sarah made better use of the space and the use of the colours, the outfit worked a treat with the space. I like the black and white images that Alec produced but it seemed a shame that they did not make best use of the space. The concept of his colour set was solid, I just feel the lighting and exposure was a little off. All that said, both photographers produced fantastic images.
How could any model relax in front of the camera with Sarah behind the camera? Nonstop nervous energy and anxiety.
I love that you're challenging other photographers in similar ways that you were, when you started!
Fun!
They lucky! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Haha it’s only right! Thanks for watching 🙏🏾

So sick to see the final product!! Props to both Sarah and Alec for getting it done in such a short amount of time! 🙌

They were both cool and professional
Indeed!

The shot at 13:09 is the one. ☝Glad to see you thought the same.
Yes indeed 👌🏾🙏🏾

I’m not really sure what you’re asking!
Nice format
Thank you
I couldn't pick a winner. Just some great shots there. I normally shoot the 90 on my 6x7, but I have the 105 too :)
I’m excited to use the 105!
Thanks for posting this Mike. Great video as usual! Quick Q - what set-up / kit do you use for the wireless flash on your Pentax 67? Thank you
Thanks a lot Ben! I just use the broncolor wireless remote with a sync cable plugged directly into the camera!
@@MikeGrayFilm thanks for this mate. Appreciate it very much. Last question (for now haha): what prism / viewfinder do you use with the Hasselblad?
so sickk as always !
Thanks for watching Nelson!
Let me hop on an episode of Gray's challenge. I'm in the bay, but I'll make the move!
We’ll make it happen! DM me.
Loved this video Mike ❤️ if you ever come the uk we need to collaborate
Thanks so much CJ!
Both had some good shots, interesting to see the different ways of approach. Everybody wins 😊. Great video!
Agreed. Thanks for watching man!
in the first session I wanted so bad for the model to BE the lamp for some reason lol
Hahaha
Prefer the aesthetic with the Hassy not using strobes. More authentic looking

i wish they challange you as well to shoot something in 3minutes at the end :D
I think i've been through enough of my fair share of challenges haha
What exactly makes this "fine art"?
Anything can be labeled as fine art. Any image I plan to put in a book or print to me is considered a fine art image in my eyes.
Shorty was weak dont blame hasselblad for that
Could you make a video about how you make money with you’re photography
Are you open to known and unknowned photographers?
Of course!
no camands
Just use DIGITAL
haha i'll use BOTH!
Why are your intros so creepy? hahah
Hahaha just for the challenge ;) haha
