THIS is the Psychedelic Spacey sound I have been looking for! It's reminds me of the soundtrack from the '70's TV show "In Search Of..." !!! I am going to sell my Roland JD-800 & get me a MOOG Satellite!! Thank you for helping me make a major decision!!!
THanks for posting this! The satellite gets trashed online as the 'poor' moog. Nothing poor about this ethereal soundscape you produced! The bass is strong with this one...
My older brother had one of these in the late '70's. I used to love making all sorts of sounds with it! Thanks so much for making such a pleasing Video.
thanks btw (a yr late) for the kind comment...synth kind of died recently...I'll get her up and running again soon though. Another fav is the korg micro preset. Very brown sound..old korg oscillators are amazing.
these are often riduculed on all the synth sites but i happen to love the sound and this particular demo of yours is fantastic- really- great retro sound and mood- im actually a huge fan of the analogs that nobody wants like the satellite- prices stay down adn the secret remains
You're right! How can people dislike a sy,th that can get such great sounds? Now this is the 1st analog synth (not counting my stylophone, omnichord & monotron) that I want to buy!
I was recently given a 1973 Thomas Monticello 371 with Moog Preset Synthesizer. It also has a Leslie speaker in the body of the organ. I believe it to be a satellite synth. I'm hoping to extricate the synth and use it in the effects loop of a guitar amp. Would you happen to know of any links to such a project..?
hey...nice job... great demo how what this often maligned little single oscillator synth can do. I have one that I've restored and it stands up next to my other analogs synths well !
I just got a MOOG Satellite which was stored in a hard case and cosmetically looks great. worked at his house and it seemed to work just fine. I just plugged it in my house and it makes a constant drone sound which can be manipulated via the tabs or the sliders, but none of the actual keys make any sound... the tuner knob on the back turns and I can make an awesome french police car sound, but that is it. It seems like it is stuck in tuner mode, if there is such a mode. Any thoughts?
Wow! I wonder if this is the synth used in the seventies instrumental classic "Summer Madness" by Kool and the Gang. Shitty band. Great song. Always wondered what they used for the awesome synth work in that. Now I'm almost positive it's a Moog Satellite.
This track is featured in Musical Instruments Museum in Brussels, Belgium where they've got a Satellite on display
Heard it there today!!
Been looking for this song all over internet, after I went there today fell in love with the song immediately

thanks for that - funnily enough I was playing it last night for the first time in a long while - will be using it a lot more in our music I think :)
