Such a game changer and smart move by Segway. They purposely used a beefy Hub motor so it could be unlocked/upgraded. One thing that many are not mentioning is that the Segway batteries will likely be UL Certified. How many Surrons, Onyx or aftermarket batteries for fast ebikes are UL Certified? None that I have seen. UL rated e-bike batteries are a new requirement in NYC and most small e-bike companies or local after market battery builders cant afford the certification so this is a great option.

I own a Biktrix e-bike and asked them via phone call if their batteries were UL approved, (they have know nothing people answering calls as a buffer). I was told they didn't know and would get right back to me, that was a couple months ago.

I have been building a custom ebike for the last year, this is the first commercial unit that looks like checks all the boxes for what I wanted (with the possible exception of upgrading the controller / battery / motor) Can't wait to get one for sure if it's under $3K! This thing is awesome.

@@ElectricVehicleSpaceI'm not saying the price is a lie. I'm saying that crushing Surron with a 750watt hub motor (even the unlocked 3000watts) isn't gonna happen. Up the specs a bit and the price will go up too. But then Surron may have some cause for concern.

I love to ride in NYC. No rules at all. You can ride on red lights, sidewalks etc. It's awesome. Cops don't care about it at all since police defunding.

You talked to a wrong rep, or maybe it was not even a Segway rep. Also, you can figure it out by just looking at this bike, and it should be faster than a class 2.

@mixflip I won't get our rep in trouble but just wait and see what they do in the following months. Don't forget Melvin was there with me and this is a different scenario. Why would you install a 3kw hub and leave it at 20mph?
It just needs a wider more comfy seat and a nice body frame to hide the battery, maybe some storage pockets in the body too. If this had a range of over 60 miles I would definitely be interested. Almost makes me regret my recent 3.5 k motorcycle purchase. 😂😮 The thing that makes me a most interested is that it can carry two people.

Would have to give it a test ride. Having dual motor on the roadrunner pro is still a kind of it’s own. I think I’ll just always be a roadrunner guy Melvin killed it with his lineup. The entire emove lineup is making its way to the top

@@Dee-cj1ecremember its a small electric motorcycle limited to 20mph as an attempt to pass as a legal ebike (it isnt becauze not a 750W nominal motor) the top speed ahould be more like 45mph, maybe more,crusing speed maybe like 35-40mph. your pedalling with tiny crankarms, flat motorcycle seat, and the speed this will go will be useless for top speed, acceleration or even increasing range. maybe you can get at least a little workout, but this is really not th kindo of evike for pedalling
if you want something that pedals well but is still quite fast look for somthing like a juiced rip current S with offroad controller. you get a nice 9 speed cassette that can be upgraded, torque sensor, proper bike seat, pedals and pedalling position, 52 tooth. chainring, 26 far tires, but still unrestricted 30-35mpg top speed on throttle.if you want ro be able to pedal with no assistance, you should look for non fat tires
Looks sort of like the Raev Bullet GTX. If you can unlock the speed to 45 mph then it's a real winner.

Not hating on Surrons but they are being banned more and more every day for being electric dirtbikes especially in cities. Once an M License, insurance and registration is enforced most users will likely give them up or get a real e motorcycle like Stark or Zero. In addition they dont have UL certified batteries. The dirtbike noise they make and lack of pedals doesn't help. This Segway comes fully legal and open to mods.
@@718og Segway is no different to the surron..the motor is above 750 watts..it’s already not street legal. Surrons ship street legal as well where you have to cut a wire to unlock it. But none of this matters as the ebike federal law specifically states the motor has to be 750w (1hp)..now whether that’s peak or nominal no one knows, but nominal is what’s assumed.
Some states have a weight limit too (100lbs max) to be classified as an ebike..
@@slimdunkin117 Even tiny hub and mid drives I've worked on can easily be pushed to well over 750 watts with an upgraded controller. It's all about the controller and battery limit. For Surron the no pedals, no UL, loud dirtbike chain noise is totally different than the Segway. If it's priced right under $3K it will be a game changer

They came to NYC and I could not try one. There bigger bikes and the Graffiti were not working and I never had the chance to test them. The company also it is shady. Called me 10 times asking to review it and it is been 2 years and there is no product. Segway has way better reputation in my opinion.

I hope they will add a lockable metal enclosure. Otherwise, it look like anyone could remove the batteries in seconds.
It has a lock. You can't easily remove it.

@@maciejpsykevery ebike had a lock for the battery. the problem is that evike + battery is a much more desirable target ro ateak than without so yes if you leave you evike unattended, battery HAS to be locked but you shouldnt leave the battery for more than a short time, unless you are in a very safe area (closed garage at work or at home etc). my wife firs evike was stolen with the battery on. bike was locked to a metal protection around a tree with a good u lock, people just grinded the metal in braid daylight
Would’ve been nice to see a Gates Carbon Belt Drive to keep down the high chain maintenance, especially for an off-road bike. The empty space you’re seeing in the frame, is for a second battery to give you a total of 90 miles of range.

It's a prototype, but all scooters in their collection have it, so it's coming since they used the same consoles.

EVS, at the end of the video you mention that it had a class 2, 20mph speed restriction as standard. Right after, you confirm that a Segway rep told you it could be unlocked to 45mph. Can you clarify what you mean by that? Is that unlock official, done through the Segway app via vehicle settings? This is a huge detail so your input here would be amazing!
I was whispered behind the show so this is going to take probably a while since they need to pass all required regulations in US. You know how red tape works.
But I will and others swap the controllers and customize to 72V and you will be all set.

Yea 20 mph out the gate. BUT you know Powerful Lithium or Chi Battery will have a battery for it instantly and from there it will be a sick ass bike with a qs or nb motor

this is so much better and you can swap the controller with ASI and get this monster over 45mph.

needs review. The mtb (not sure about "moto") has a dial that replaces PAS buttons and thumb throttle, afaik. Am I right? You said you reviewed it, and would notice it when riding if you did, I'd think.

I got confused by the big dial on the left, and thought that could be a cool feature for PAS switching, and somehow throttle combo, but maybe not useful for how much room it takes. I don't understand it yet.

Other brands are in trouble. I can think of one overpriced major brand right off the top of my head. Hard to believe its class 2. This is what I expected out of one of the major motorcycle manufacturers. It looks like a moped/cycle and that won't win you any friends on bicycle paths.

On track to be the Best high speed ebike since the ONYX was first released. I hope you’ll review one soon, they definitely listened to GT2 owners and added a ton of performance thanks to that giant motor. Probably not a surron killer since that’s an e-dirt bike and the Segway looks more like an all weather commuter bike that can also be ridden off road. In states where surrons are illegal and get confiscated , this will be a fast seller because of the real pedaling .
120mm rear shock and front can be longer and adjusted. Remove the fenders and it's better than surron. More power and grip with better frame.
I have a feeling this will overtake Onyx and S73. Segway battery coming from a huge company will most likely be UL certified unlike the others so it might be the only option for many. I can see 2 of those Segway batteries wired in series(if they don't have a 72v upgrade option) with a Fardriver controller upgrade as an option. If they sell these under 3K it will be a winner.

Super 73 #super73 better up their game because I can see this moving to the number 1 spot. Super 73 has just been going off their name and not even trying to improve.
It will be impossible for them to match and if they get even close the price will be more than double from what we seen so far.
I agree there. I do like the Super 73 Adventure model but it is WAY overpriced when you look at other brands and how they are equipped. Super 73 has sit back and let their name try to sell while other companies have surpassed them on power, torque, tech. @@ElectricVehicleSpace

If you unlock to 40 to 50mph, one pair of pistons will heat up to fast and get worn really fast. Also depends how you ride.

That guy looks the best but it’s always the slowest like come on dude that shit looks at least like it should go at least 50 mph something more than 20 miles. That’s ridiculous specially for the prize like I spent 1000 on my fucking scooter. The G2 max. I also spent 1000 on the max 30 and they only upgraded it by like two or 3 miles like come on do better.
