I rode the quarry track that Grant was referring to, around 2000. That is more than brutal. Basically potholes.

That being the underdog thing is so classic in life, take Jett for example, he was trying to keep up with his big brother his whole life, now he's faster. Anecdotally too, when I was in school I was friends with 3 brothers, and they were all fantastic wrestlers, and the youngest kid ended up being a National Champ, because his whole life he grew up trying to keep up with his 2 older bigger brothers, so when they were finally all the same size, he just WRECKED everybody.

Reminds me of when I raced intermediate 450 and Dean Wilson on his KX 100 would beat me. Humbling.

DUDE I just commented to another guy about how I was in the B class at Millville and thought I was pretty good getting top 3 each race until Jeremy Martin was 8 seconds A LAP faster than me on his damn SUPERMINI. 😂😂

@@djjazzyjeff1232 I used to race hare scrambles in Millville. Fortunately I never got passed by him on his mini. I raced A class then. All those pros could shred on their minis. Keeping people humble :)

When Grant said, “How do you find 5 minutes in a moto” I can’t tell you how many times that thought had crossed my mind.

Dude same, I remember growing up racing and when I wanted to actually give it a shot we would race at Millville, and I would do alright in B class, like top 3 usually, until we did lap times and Jeremy Martin was 8 seconds a LAP faster than me ON HIS SUPERMINI. I was like well I'd say I'm fucked boys I just don't see me bridging that gap. 😂😂 I stopped racing shortly after that, I had peaked and I wanted to be able to still walk when I'm 50.

When I grew up racing I was always fast and I too chalk that up to doing motos on a track that gets groomed one a YEAR, not every day! Also there were always older faster kids there and naturally you try to keep up. Then by the time YOU are in the 250B class, what do you know, you're faster than them.

Glen Helen too has always been gnarly, in the best way. That's a real deal racetrack, and that's why when you have real deal riders (Like Eli Tomac) back in his Honda days he won by about 2 minutes. 😂

Have a Dad, or someone to keep you pushing forward all the time. Never settle. Have something else to drive you forward, to give you reason to win.
Ride somewhere that is very hard to ride. Rough, bad conditions. Ride the stuff you're bad at until you're good at it.

Ride tracks that are totally destroyed, rather than ones that are perfectly prepped. The man that rides and trains in the toughest conditions will be the best. Focus on what you're the worst at, and work until you're good at it!
Also he didn't say this part, this is my own thought, but race yourself, aka the stopwatch. Don't get too caught up in comparing yourself to others, compare yourself to the past version of yourself.

Deegan is underperforming and is absolutely an embarrassment, kid reeks of entitlement. he’s getting smoked by Vialle when he has rode supercross his entire life & Tom had only rode it a month before last season even started.
