I just spent over two weeks scraping, sanding, wood epoxying, and celebrating all the warts of a carved pine love seat. My full intention was, as mentioned, to celebrate so many imperfections. Now, I will support and upholster over carved insert panels and arms. I so appreciate your instructions and efforts. Seems my whole life, I have looked to covet and enhance the stories a piece with good bones. Bless you and take a slightly different glance. 🙏🏼🥰🇨🇦
Restoration Hardware sells deconstructed furniture for $1000s and so I did one as soon as I saw the prices! In my home friends asked me when I was going to finish the chair. My response, "it is finished". When I moved, I gave it to a friend who had plans to have it upholstered. Guessing the deconstructed look never grew on her. LOL.
My mom used to do upholstery and slipcovers and you took me back to watching her do this while I was growing up...flawless work that you do...but, I don't care for the unfinished work.
Thank you Sue. Thanks for commenting. I learned my sewing and slipcover skills from my mom. She did it her whole life. Stick around I have a lot of sewing videos planned for this year.
Love This!!! Thank You for Sharing Your Time and Talent!! Also wanted to let you know that this deconstructed upholstrey style made it a hit in the fall 2023 Country Sampler Farmhouse Magazine. Please do more of these type of videos!!!
Beautiful work. I love the look of deconstructed furniture personally. It's the relaxed yet refined look that I think is what is appealing. I have a few pieces that I have done in the exact same way that you are showing in this video. I agree, they do take longer with the tacks, but worth the look in the end. As always, I love your videos!
I’m not the biggest fan of deconstructed furniture but I appreciate how you did this one as it looks a bit cleaner. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I just bought a couch yesterday and am so excited to try my hand at such a big project.
I like it.. I think I might try darling the wood or painting it. I don't know. Lots of ideas. But I do like it. I have wing back chair in my bedroom. You have certainly given me a big idea. Thank you.
I love your execution of this particular piece of furniture. But 'deconstructed furniture' is something I hadn't heard off before this moment. But I can clearly say it's not something I would personally go for✌🏻. I far more like the "finished" jobs, of your other 👌🏻beautiful furniture tutorial video's. 👋🏻 from 🇳🇱 (🇪🇺)
Thanks Janet! I’ve done this deconstructed style twice now, and I’m still not on the bandwagon. Not sure why I did this chair deconstructed. Oh well. Thank you for the comment and compliment again!
Curious about your favorite sources online for linen fabrics and what weight you prefer to work with? Have you worked with hemp? Thread weight/preferences for upholstery linen covers? Thanks for any resources you may have!
I wish i had better resources too. The only hemp i've used was from Ikea...I liked it for slipcovers but it's not quite upholstery weight. As for Linen for slipcovers, I've bought fabric from Fabric-store.com ...they have beautiful heavy weight linen, but again not exactly upholstery weight linen, but great for slipcovers. If you get a great upholstery weight linen lemme know!

I love this chair, it’s stunning! Great choice of fabric, it doesn’t distract from the beautiful construction of the chair.
Thank you Dovile!
You do very good work, I don’t think I would like the bones showing. But I like the chair and fabric…I always look forward to your posts.

that's a great idea to paint the wood! I did stain mine to try to make it all a uniform color. Thanks for commenting.
I love it! Thank you for the video . . . just starting a piece for my home!

Love love your tutorials. I am hoping to do a wing chair myself here soon. But not a fan of that unfinished look. Like you said. To each their own
Thanks Leslie!!! I have a couple more wing chairs that need upholstery, traditional style. So I’ll make a video.

I enjoy your channel
This chair looks great. I love when it looks like this. When it's a lot more deconstructed I don't like that.
Thanks Catherine. I agree….this looks pretty tame.
Like it!
Thanks Peggy!
My husband and I love it!! Did you end up selling it. Enjoyed the video!💕
Thanks. Still haven’t sold it.
