We just found out we are pregnant with monozygotic twins. We will know (hopefully) this Friday if they are mo-mo or mo-di. I know we may have just hopped on a wild roller coaster ride. Im 8 weeks & ecstatic, im ready to go through anything I need to for their health & safety. How was your journey?

We had MoMo twins, found out at 8 weeks, first appointment we thought we had one baby, then surprise it was two. The AFP for my wife was elevated so we were told it may be due to having twins or the babies will have spina bifida. So it started out with stress, then at 16 weeks we were told to abort or there is a chance they won't make it, The pregnancy type we had was really rare and can often lead to complications. We were told to give birth then at 20 weeks and decided to switch hospitals and providers all together. Found out one baby was good and the other had a congenital heart defect similar to Tetrology of Fallot. Much more happened in between but we made it to 28 and a half weeks before we were admitted into the hospital until birth. My wife was on a baby monitor for 3 times a day for a full hour each time. I stayed with her until she gave birth by C Section. We were able to push off until 33 weeks before one of them wasn't growing anymore. Both born at 3.5 pounds, cord entanglement and both on oxygen, intubated, tubes everywhere and in the NICU for a month or so. Baby that was fine ended up with emergency surgery at 36 hours old bc her tummy was tangled with her intestines causing her to throw up her food but everything worked out with her, she now has a tummy scar. The other one had surgery at 6 months on her heart. That was rough as well but now she's a heart baby survivor and thriving. Both are doing amazing, now 1 year 7 months old. We love them like no tomorrow. Feels like a dream past 2 years but were here now. I hope all is well with you and you make the decisions that you feel is best for you, your family and your future. I’m pregnant with our second set of boy/girl fraternal twins 11 years after the first set’s birth, 5 years after our singleton girl’s birth, and 2 years after a miscarriage. Our rainbow babies are due in April 🌈 👣👣🌼
They are healthy and thriving! They were born without complications on April 24th. They’ll be 6 months on Thursday next week! Unfortunately dad is displaced from the home due to domestic violence against me… so I have been taking care of all the children by myself since June and that has been very difficult 😞

Nope,Di Di even if they got separate placenta and separate amniotic sac . They are still identical twins, because they are both from the same sperm and they both have the same number of chromosomes.

Complications can arise and as far as I'm aware, momo twins are almost always delivered by C section and are typically delivered earlier than modi or didi twins. There are 2 main complications that aren't just general pregnancy complications with momo twins. First is Twin to Twin Transfusion syndrome or TTTS. This is a complication of having just 1 placenta, sometimes one twin gets way more blood and nutrients than the other twin and so you have 1 twin that's bigger than the other at birth. Both twins can have issues. The second one is umbilical cord entanglement, this almost always happens when 2 babies share an amniotic sac. This can potentially cause umbilical cord compression, which can lead to the babies being in distress and having to have an emergency C section. This risk of umbilical cord compression being much higher with momo twins means that a vaginal birth of momo twins is much rarer than with modi and didi twins. It's not 0 though, there are some momo twin vaginal births.
@@leanneadams2549 God did another miracle in my 5th month of pregnancy, the membrane between the two babies was found in the anomaly scan, so now its modi twins, so we felt safe, the 7th month scan was done today, the babies weight different is only 100 grams, so we feel happy.
