Fun fact: the genus Howea only has two species: H. forsteriana and H. belmoreana. Both species originate from a remote Australian island called Lord Howe's Island. It's amazing to think we can see a species of plant in our homes that comes from such a distant place!
Beautiful plant. I could never keep it alive. 😅 You might want to invest in another humidifier rather than trying a pebble tray. From what I’ve read they really aren’t effective for large plants - the evaporation diffuses through the air into the general environment too quickly to significantly raise the humidity around the plant. YMMV, I stick with plants that can deal with my winter environment so I haven’t put it to the test.
I have two, but they aren't in the same room as the palm. Maybe I should just get another. Fortunately, we have a house humidifier which should offset some of the dryness too, but better safe than sorry.
I have it written down in my plant notes that howea are some of the easier palms to grow from seeds. I might try that sometime, I'd usually rather do that than spend like a hundred dollars on a huge plant lol
@@banesbotanicals1287 That reminds me, if you're willing to wait about ten years, date palms are also pretty easy to grow from seed. You can get a big container of the fruit from the grocery and the pits would probably survive a nuclear war lol

Your plant is nice and lush, really beautiful addition to your collection, do enjoy ❤
Thank you!

You and I cancel each other out 😂 I love big plants but they can be pretty expensive and difficult to move lol

@@DragoniteSpam Only ten years? 😂
@@banesbotanicals1287 Not sure honestly. Mine sprouted about 15 months ago and it's got about six leaves ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My kentia palm is probably my favorite plant (it was also about $150 😅)
I'm grateful that I found one!
Wow! $150?! No wonder I don’t have one….
I hate to say it but I feel like it was worth it!
@@banesbotanicals1287 Then, it’s totally worth it! Enjoy your plant! 😁
