  • Friends don’t let friends grip the grips.
Some things I didn't say but could have: 2-finger grip below the foam means a lot of the pole is above the swing point, or fulcrum. This is a counterbalance, reducing the effective swing weight of the pole that weighs 12oz, which is heavier than most on the market. Still, most people who lift them express surprise that they aren't heavy as their large diameter makes them look.
These are probably the strongest trekking poles you can buy. Other manufacturers of carbon fiber poles typically aim for the lowest possible weight. This results often in poles that break in normal use, as when torqued in a chuck hole, or bearing the user's whole weight in a stumble scenario. I saw dozens of broken poles on my PCT hike, and not all of them were super light. Really strong poles like these inspire confidence to use them in ways you wouldn't use others, such as for vaulting, or plunging deep into hard snow on slopes to serve as handles that can bear a lot of weight, in the manner of an ice axe. (They do not replace an axe with its self arrest function.)
The extension segments and hammock-mode feet allow you to extend the full lengths of the poles to north of 6' (1.8M). You can hike with one or both this way in the manner of a staff, use as tall tarp support poles when you have trees for the hammock, and they make awesome long balance aids when crossing shaky log bridges or other sketchy water crossings.
