The fact that people agree that Netanyahu should resign only after the war and not now gives Netanyahu more incentive to keep the war going on without actually doing anything substantial to delay his ousting. Those claims to decimate hamas seems hollow. Netanyahu has always used hamas for his own political gains and will probably keep it alive

Do you think Israelis actually care for the Palestinians? Why dont i see marches and protests against the apartheid/occupation? Its in their best ling term interest that they treat them well and not isolate themselves in the region and internally. Its also the only acceptable moral decision in my view. Even if the answer is security, this will always be the excuse long-term if the root of the issue, the occupation, is not addressed. And there are always answers to problems, especially when they are man made.
@Mandems973 the occupation will end only in a peace treaty that would guarantee Israel's safety. Gaza stopped being occupied in 2005, and look where we are now. And before you start talking about the blockade - it was put in place in 2007, after Hamas took over Gaza and refused to recognize Israel's right to exist as both means of security as well as economical sanctions to make them change their mind. If Israel withdrew from the West Bank like they did from Gaza, Hamas would have been the ruler there as well, and Israel wouldn't have had just 1200 murdered, it would have had tens or hundreds of thousands dead.
As an Israeli, I really hope so. He is directly responsible for the intelligence and security failures that led to this massacre. He thought this war would unify the country around him and finally allow him to annex Palestine in part and secure himself in the Israeli history books as a great leader. It’s wild to think that he failed to act on the intel received hoping the war would win him support. I think he just didn’t want to believe it could happen. Too many forces tied up on the West Bank protecting the settlers. Would have been politically toxic for his coalition.
And this is not even mentioning the fact that the Egyptian intelligence services warned Netanyahu about the Hamas attack, days before it happened. This means one of two things: 1) Netanyahu ignored the Egyptians information, and is thus wholly responsible for the attack as a point of his failure. 2) He deliberately allowed the attack to go ahead, by lowering Israel's defenses at the time, intending to cause a "Rally around the flag effect". Either way, neither are good.
He also deliberately allowed for that music festival to be held in some of the most dangerous parts of Israel out of every empty place there is in the country. Resulting indirect harm to innocents and Israeli citizens. Heck even the most idiotic leaders out there like Pol Pot or Idi Amin would've never given a permission for a music concert near a battlefield lol

There was a path for isreal / Palestine to reconsile and become closer, but netenyahu has a big responsibility in that path being impossible to take right now.

@@rizkyadiyanto7922 It's noteworthy that the Israeli public opposes the two state solution mostly because of a lack of trust in Palestinians, more than any other reason.
Netanyahu does not care about those hostages. If he did, the first thing he would've done was negotiate to get them back, not immediately drop a thousand bombs without even knowing their location.
The problem for Netanyahu is that he majored on security, was caught with his pants down, has been forced into a position of overcompensating against Hamas/Gaza, and is now at risk of worsening further Israel’s security. He has had the polar opposite effect of what he claimed to stand for.
He will not go down without a fight. It took a week for him to switch gears back into damage control mode for his reputation. There's a saying that goes along the lines of, the people most against war are warriors. In contrast to the USA where war is conducted by a small corps of professionals, relative to population, in Israel almost everyone is subject to conscription. A large chunk of the electorate will directly experience the cost of any war conducted by the politicians and they'll definitely make their discomfort felt at the polls if they feel the war was avoidable.
That's actually not true in the general case. The "rally around the flag" effect is very real here in Israel, and is well documented (and abused) in previous engagements with both Hamas and the PIJ. The reason this isn't happening is that Netanyahu severely weakened the ruling bodies, surrounded himself with yes-men, and enacted dangerous policies. Pretty much every single professional (from treasury to army) warned him that this will have real world consequences, not just "oh this is unpopular" but real "the shekel will drop" and "our security will be compromised" consequences. And it ended up happening on his watch, alongside a huge HUGE failure of intelligence, as well as a complete lack of function to this day, 11 days after the start of the war (pretty much all of the supporting structures for survivors/displaced are voluntary citizen projects that sprung bottom up, the government isn't functioning to this day).
As we've seen times and times again, this guy will never let go of his power. If he's forced to go down, he'll probably bring the country... or region... or more down with him.
The problem is distraction. Netanyahu is (rather like a certain U.S. politician) primarily focused on protecting himself. That Hamas managed to organize such a massive terrorist strike without being noticed and stopped shows that Netanyahu's government simply isn't paying attention because their focus is on keeping him in power.
I want to note that TLDR News covered this flawlessly, you can tell they have someone on board who has done its research, and really knows his stuff about Israel's local politics. I watched a Vox video just yesterday and their senior correspondent was so completely out of their depth that it was quite shocking to hear someone speaking so confidently on video on something they know so little about. Good to know I can trust TLDR News as it covers other subjects and countries.
Agree! The Vox video was appalling... just bent logic trying to blame everything only on Israel. Lots of half truths, leaving our any Palestinian bad steps. Appalling.
Not pursuing the two-state solution faithfully will be the downfall of peace for Israel in the long run. Albeit I do condemn Hamas targeting of civilians I also condemn Israels reasoning to maintain the Gaza blockade while also blocking effective means to help the Palestinian authority actually become a fully functioning state
The 2 state solution has always been a thing neither party wanted. Israel needs the West Bank in particular as a buffer to secure its heartland in case of conflict with other Arab nations. Palestinians never actually wanted to come to terms with the idea of an Israeli state, the idea that they have to give up the pre-1967 lands and the ideal of a Palestinian state from the river to the sea, which they chant still to this day. A 2-state solution, if it would've been implemented, would've resulted in a larger Gaza scenario. When Israel disengaged from Gaza, the Gazans voted Hamas. What did they do with their freedom? Engage in conflict with Israel, infiltrating civilian settlements and killing indiscriminately, thus the need for the current blockade. I was old enough to remember the tunnels Hamas was building to bypass the barrier and infiltrate the kibbutz near the border.
@@Kalimdor199Menegroth I am old enough to remember the UN declare Israel’s occupation of the post 1967 lands as illegal. I an old enough remember Israel’s illegal invasion of Lebanon in 1982 . I am old enough to remember Israel funded Hamas existence in order to divide the Palestinians. Also half the population of Gaza is children so your blaming them for their government is nonsense and also bad faith since Israel refuses to surrender land in the West Bank that they agreed to in the Oslo accords so elections in the authority can actually go through . The last elections were in 2006 so don’t talk about that. The Palestinian authority want the land that most of the world recognizes as theirs and that makes sense
Numerous Arab leaders who have championed a two-state solution have been killed. Meanwhile, Israel has used apartheid against the Palestinian people while taking their lands, building illegal settlements and blockading Gaza. If the leaders of both sides can’t get anywhere that benefits the people.
@@Kalimdor199Menegroth and to know why so many Palestinians have been radicalized you need to look at what happened before the 2000's from a sociological stand point(not that they helped it much either) this isn't as simple as Israel good Palestine bad, you can't deny that Israel has treated them like shit for decades, they started this by moving to the region and taking over by force, is that okay to you? is that a civilized thing to do?

If the war ending is going to cause his resignation, Netanyahu is going to make sure the war won't end any time soon. Anything different would be a sharp change of character for him.
Is it true that one of the reasons that the Israelis were so defenseless was because he diverted troops to the West Bank to assist in kicking people off there land?
When a leader's position internally becomes uncertain, it may be very tempting to thrash out externally very hard. Given that the current leadership has shown incompetence in defending the nation (probably because who the security minister is), it's difficult to see them any better in the counter-attack. Sure enough, they seem to have come up with nothing better than pushing very hard indiscriminately into a densely populated area causing a humanitarian catastrophe.
Watched a documentary on the failed peace process of the 1990s just hours ago. It's heart-wrenching. The foundation of a Palestinian state was getting very close until Bill Clinton made a mess, of which Ariel Sharon took advantage. 23 years and counting of this bloodshed
I find it very strange that Netanyahu's coalition has become less popular with the war. Regardless of the "rally around the flag effect" one would expect nationalist sentiment to skyrocket when faced with a literal invasion, yet a coalition marked by the inclusion of uniquely nationalist parties has fallen in the polls. I wonder if this effect will hold, or if it will turn around should the war last long enough
In Israel the "rally around the flag" phenomenon can't happen because for the Israelis a huge loss of human life count as a lost in the war. no matter what Israel will menage to achieve in the end of the war, the Israelis will forever remember this as a disaster which should never happened.
7:27 his name is Ehud Olmert, not Emud Olmert. This isn't te first time you mistakenly mixed h/m/n in Israeli names, you may want to check that, maybe increase the font size of your teleprompter to make it easier to differentiate between the letters.
Guys please install a spell checker for the texts on your video. I spotted like 5 typos and I am still on minute 4, like many times on Netanyahu's name and simple words, for example 'obstalce'. Edit: 20 seconds later: 'Contraversial'
I would say it’s quite accurate analysis. And as Israeli, I really hope that the current government will leave and never come back to public or political life
Usually during this kinds of crisis, people tend to vote for the "strong man" option, like how Dubya got reelected. If Netanyahu and his cronies willingly turned a blind eye on intelligence reports on Hamas' attack, hoping for a Rally Round the Flag effect to help him secure power and distract the population fron his ongoing scandals, the drop of his approval rating indicates that it backfired.
not really, I doubt they turned a blind eye, but rather were just shit and uncapable. they currently are hoping for a rally flag, but everyone hates them, even if we win they will hate them, everyone thinks of Ben gvir as a coward with no military experiance, Bibi as a fraud who only likes himself, and the rest of the government as fanatics, the coming elections more are gonna vote, and majority hate the fuck out of the coalition, meaning Bibi won't be close to the 60 mark even with his coalition mates
I won’t be shocked if security were neglected on purpose so Mr savior Netanyahu comes and saves the day. Luckily many Israelis are aware pointed out this security failure and did not sweep it under the rug
I guess the recent events alongside the controversial problems from earlier this year already brought him down and his incentive is to keep the war growing to justify him staying for longer.
You would be surprised when you go to Israel. It is completely a mixed and secular society with a lot of open-minded people. Basically, anyone you speak to is fed up with religious people from both sides, Palestinians or Israelis. But just like in every other country, there are always the religious nuts and the fundamentalists with deep ideology, the ones that speak for everyone and claim to have the moral high ground. Benjamin Netanyahu is one of those. The day that one's personal religious belief is separated from everyday policy will be the day that Israel and Palestine have peace.
What's your opinion of a 2 state resolution? Personally i don't think thats gonna work anymore. I think a one state resolution is better. If you get 2 states they are gonna go to war again.
@@canelo1728 One state, one country governed by the people for the people, with laws that treat everyone equally. However, it will never work due to religious ideology from all sides. Palestinians and Israelis have an equal claim historically, whether one likes it or not. Neither of them wants to capitulate due to religious differences. Both sides have suffered greatly, and human beings act with emotion, not with logic. The day that religion is reserved as someone's personal belief separate from logic will be the day that Palestine and Israel become one nation that ensures the well-being of everyone. This is because there will be no favoritism, only equality with equal opportunities, something that many young Palestinians and Israelis desire. Religion distracts from what is truly important, which is enjoying your life comfortably with the people you care about, but instead, we get this stupidity. I am a 29 year old "American- Israeli" I was born in the US, but I moved to Israel and now have duel citizenship. I would prefer a one state solution. Where we just agree to live with each other and leave each other alone. The two state solution automatically alienates one side or the other making it the "pro-Israel" or "pro-palestine" debate where both sides make the other villains. It doesn't have to be like that. We should just be able to get along. Many of my friends seem to think the same, but most of us see it as being impossible at the moment

BiBi Netenyahu flew too close to the sun here. He thought this war would unify the country around him and finally allow him to annex Palestine in part and secure himself in the Israeli history books as a great leader. But in allowing this attack to take place in such an obvious way that showed the whole country this was his intention, he has now secured his eternal reputation as an evil man who allowed massacres and participated in them too for his political and personal gain.
I'm sorry, but that's just nonsense. There is no way this was his "intention" nor would he have the ability to execute such intention. He's a populist scum. but this is just nonsensical conspiracy talk that misunderstands internal israeli politics and the role of Bibi within it.
James, honestly, you are on the same page with me, look at my analysis very well and have it in mind that I am a Nigerian who never cross my borders. So James dear the hamas attack is only a sell-out activity don't allow someone on top to fool you, just checkout how they allow the penetration of the Israel army positions easily without any serious resistance for a groups like hamas. In reference, just look at how isis regained lands in syria and Iraq that's tells you it was a planned movement, the same with the recent hamas attacks on Israel. It's a politics, but a very expensive ones cos if a Jew will sacrifice a fellow Jew for political gain then I am lost, and these politicians can even sell their parents and daughters for their interests.

It’s wild to think that he failed to act on the intel received hoping the war would win him support. I think he just didn’t want to believe it could happen. Too many forces tied up on the West Bank protecting the settlers. Would have been politically toxic for his coalition.
Wait, even Israelis have realised the government allowed this attack to happen as a political justification
And this is not even mentioning the fact that the Egyptian intelligence services warned Netanyahu about the Hamas attack, days before it happened. This means one of two things:
1) Netanyahu ignored the Egyptians information, and is thus wholly responsible for the attack as a point of his failure.
When news came out that Israel ignored the Egypt intelligence warning, that's it for his popularity

What kind of a strong leader negotiates with terrorists?
The problem for Netanyahu is that he majored on security, was caught with his pants down, has been forced into a position of overcompensating against Hamas/Gaza, and is now at risk of worsening further Israel’s security. He has had the polar opposite effect of what he claimed to stand for.

If Hamas and Netanyahu both go, the two biggest obstacles to peace between Palestine and Israel would be gone.
We can only dream
As we've seen times and times again, this guy will never let go of his power. If he's forced to go down, he'll probably bring the country... or region... or more down with him.
That picture of Ben Gvir, makes him seem like a Disney Villain, and that’s the only thing I can think of when I hear about him from now on.
Egyptian intelligence warned him days before the attack took place
I want to note that TLDR News covered this flawlessly, you can tell they have someone on board who has done its research, and really knows his stuff about Israel's local politics.
I watched a Vox video just yesterday and their senior correspondent was so completely out of their depth that it was quite shocking to hear someone speaking so confidently on video on something they know so little about. Good to know I can trust TLDR News as it covers other subjects and countries.
Agree! The Vox video was appalling... just bent logic trying to blame everything only on Israel. Lots of half truths, leaving our any Palestinian bad steps. Appalling.
As an Israeli... holy, there's so many of us
Anyway, don't eulogize him too soon, that's the rule number #1 with Benjamin Netanyahu
Bibbi is like syphilis. He might go away for a while, but he will always flare back up at the least expected moment.

Speaking as an Israeli...yes. Absolutely yes. The same happened to Golda Meir with the Yom Kippur War.
Watched a documentary on the failed peace process of the 1990s just hours ago. It's heart-wrenching. The foundation of a Palestinian state was getting very close until Bill Clinton made a mess, of which Ariel Sharon took advantage. 23 years and counting of this bloodshed
what's the title of this documentary ?
I find it very strange that Netanyahu's coalition has become less popular with the war. Regardless of the "rally around the flag effect" one would expect nationalist sentiment to skyrocket when faced with a literal invasion, yet a coalition marked by the inclusion of uniquely nationalist parties has fallen in the polls. I wonder if this effect will hold, or if it will turn around should the war last long enough
they might deem them responsible to some degree?
The israelis entirely blame the government
bec of his ignorance this happened and egypt president alsisi warned him many times but it was ignored
Your spot on its hard to belive your not from here

6:52 Few things are as refreshing as a nice breeze of British understatement...
Like Trump, Netanyahu's main objective at this point is trying to use political office to avoid prison. This means that he'll never resign.
Time for Netanyahu and his ilk to go. Good Riddance.
I won’t be shocked if security were neglected on purpose so Mr savior Netanyahu comes and saves the day. Luckily many Israelis are aware pointed out this security failure and did not sweep it under the rug
We'll find out sooner or later
I guess the recent events alongside the controversial problems from earlier this year already brought him down and his incentive is to keep the war growing to justify him staying for longer.

Bringing him down is the least it should do.

Voltaire said during the Enlightenment, 'Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities,' and he said that 200 years ago.

Where we just agree to live with each other and leave each other alone.
