Do you think a 2008 G6 sedan at 200,000 miles for 1,500 is a decent deal? (It's in pretty decent shape). Or is that too many miles? I'm looking for a second vehicle.
My 08 G6 has 110k miles on it and it's in the garage being repaired more than it's on the road being driven. It's been nothing but problems since I bought it.
I know it's been a while so you've already made your decision, but at 200,000 miles I would not risk it. If it was a hand-me-down, seller has all documents of taking care of it (i.e. older person owned it) or you could get it for a few hundred dollars, too big of a risk.
Read a comment from a year ago from someone who bought a G6 for 1500 with 110k miles on it and in looking at buying one that has 170k and they're asking 4250. Shit is ridiculous. I don't think it's worth that.
I bought one today with 200k for $1500. There is a massive glut in used car inventory because of defaults. People thought they were rich with their ppp checks and many were literally driving away unqualified with sub primes. i.e. Carvana. Hope it worked out for you, if not, be patient. You'll get the car you want at a good price soon. I only bought this one because I thought it was a deal. Surprisingly quiet and smooth driving car .

I made the mistake of buying an 08 Pontiac G6 with 78K miles on it. Going on 2 years of owning it, the car now has 110K miles on it. It's left me stranded twice. Once when the speed sensor went out and I had to limp it 45 minutes home with erratic shifting, and once when the rack & pinion crumbled inside and I lost control of the steering. Starting out, I had to take it in shortly after purchasing it to get the timing chain replaced due to a broken guide. I was able to catch it before it jumped time. Shortly after, the speed sensor went out. Then it started eating up the front tires, so I had to rebuild the whole front end: tie rods, control arms/ball joints, and sway bar links. While I was installing the sway bar links, one of the mounting brackets on the strut broke off. Now I had to replace both struts. Got it aligned and put 2 new tires on. A few months later, the steering intermediate shaft started binding up. Had to replace that. During the summer months, the rear passenger floor would flood with water if I ran the A/C. I found out too late that there's a cap behind the catalytic converter heat shield that can be removed to drain the condensation from the A/C. Pretty sure there's mold under the carpet now because of that. The trunk button doesn't work, and the rear doors don't lock anymore. Pretty recently, the rack & pinion broke apart inside while I was driving, and I lost all control of my steering. Had to replace that, and get another alignment. The coolant temperature sensor went out, and a month later the thermostat went out. Today, I was planning on doing some basic maintenance (coolant flush/thermostat, transmission fluid/filter change, and oil change, but instead I found out that both CV axle boots were torn and needed to be replaced. In a nutshell, way too many problems to be having with a car with low mileage. Take my advice, don't buy a Pontiac G6.
