The Sarough carpets, also known as Saruk, have been around for a very long time and are considered some the best known and most durable types of Persian rugs. Very similar to the Bidjar rugs, which are renowned for their durability, the Sarough rugs have also earned to a similar reputation in addition to being some of the most classic examples of antique Persian rugs.

Thank you so much for your video. I live in Western Australia and the local dealer has one antique Sarough which I like.. flowers and animals, so nice.. the piece is from 1930s I think, no pink background, my guess it was made for Iranian market. Very beautiful rug and as you said Sarough is not very expensive rug to have. I love the beauty of Sarough for rugs creators love of nature.. birds, animals and flowers

Mike, I have a (new) Sarough that was labeled Meshkabad, which I read means "lowest quality." Can you tell me what this refers to? Does it only refer to the KPI?

Hi Donna,
Meshkabad rugs are similar in design to Sarough rugs, but I'm honestly not sure what if any connections there may be between the two. If you google Meshkabad rugs, you will find plenty but it is not something that we have in our warehouse, so I can not share any specific details with you...
