My grandfather left me a lot of rare kiln dried ruff cut hardwood lumber, & i just took some of the black walnut & cherry & hickory to the the lumbar mill for plaining. This is one time you don’t have to worry if your jigsaw blade is straight. If it tilts a bit that just makes the diffuser work better. I liked the design before the flip every other one, it looked more undulating and difficult to achieve (impressive). I also think it would have diffused better.

    • @diefreemediagroup
      @diefreemediagroup Рік тому +1

      You’re correct. Intricately random patterns create the best diffusion by sending upper mid and higher frequencies in different directions rather than directly back towards the listener.

    quality again dude. Whats the tune on while your using table saw? Ive checked out the website its good. have you ever had any issues with copywrite claims from using the music yet? seen that can be an issue from that site. so looking at musicvine too, both are so good for music makes hell of a difference to the videos

      Sprayaholic I actually can’t remember the song. Yeah I really like artlist. • @TMPK

    Seems more 'art' than science, what frequency range and decible attenuation do you get with it?

    • @TMPK
      @TMPK  3 роки тому +1

      The frequency range on any given night in my studio is somewhere between 20 Hz and 20,000 Hz. The DB’s are attenuated nearly by 50 percent when they hit this beauty.
      Nah, I’m just kidding. I have no idea how to measure any of that. I just saw it on the internet and said to myself, I can build that!! Also I needed something to film so I could edit for 2 weeks straight lol

    Hi Jared - this is a truly inspiring video and the results are spectacular! One question - at about 6:20 minutes in to the video the number of profiled pieces of wood seems to double from 34 to 68. When and how does this occur during the process? Thanks John L

    • @TMPK
      @TMPK  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! The pieces double because after I cut the waves of I use both sides. So imagine the 1st piece I cut being labled #1 and when I cut it, it becomes #1 and the other half would be #1.1.
      Then when I lay them out, They would be
      (1/ 1.1/ 2/ 2.1/ 3/ 3.1)
      I don’t know if that makes sense lol
      When I draw the waves on the piece I’m going to use as a template, I try to keep it about 50/50. One side may have a little more than the other but that’s okay.

    • @johnlyons_art
      @johnlyons_art 2 роки тому

      This makes absolute sense Jared and thanks for the tip about the waves! Am going to try to apply this formula to dowels mounted on pegboard and cut to lengths that create contours similar to the curves you profiled with the jig saw.....

    • @TMPK
      @TMPK  3 роки тому

      Nope. But someone said I ruined it with the paint. Apparently the raw wood is better than the paint for diffusing sounds. I don’t care either way, just wanted something that looks cool 🤷‍♂️😂

    • @Adammonroemusic
      @Adammonroemusic 2 роки тому

      @@TMPK Nah, if anything paint would increase the reflection coefficient and decrease the absorption - a tighter molecular surface like paint reflects more sound than a more porous surface like wood, at least at frequencies above 1 kHz or so. If anything, you increased the diffusive properties by painting it (or at least, you decreased the absorption).

  • @stafford_studios

    Does this actually diffuse sound though? Just curious... don’t see any foam or anything. This is so cool though!!

      Stafford Studios I believe it’s just meant to have sound waves hit it and break them up so the room has less echo? Who knows how much it’s actually helping. I just built it cause it looks cool lol thanks!
