Ty saved me commenting on this. I was sure that I watched a video that said exactly what you say. The problem is we have two other vehicles. Is the airflow always down?
Good comment, had a Toyota OEM filter and it said up but the new Napa one said airflow so I just know that the motor was below there the filter was and the direction but still good cause not everyone one knows or some have up and some have airflow marking
The airflow direction is not up. If the filter says up on it that is merely telling you which side goes up like on the OEM filters. Most aftermarket filters say air flow on them. The arrow in that case should point down.
I replaced the filter 6 months ago and it was easy. But like someone mentioned the UP on the original, the after market ones have airflow arrow v which should point down because the air goes thru the filter top to bottom. I put the filter in and put the cover back on. Then I messed up by closing the glove compartment before attaching the arm that you remove on the first step of the video. This pushed the arm back up inside.. To make a long story short. The arm goes into a cylinder that allows the arm to open and close the box. Once I figured that out I just had to pull the arm out of the cylinder and reattached it. I spent more time on this installation then the one 6 months ago.
Be very careful releasing the damper (:34 in the video). If you pull too hard the piston comes out of the housing. If you do pull the piston out, be very careful pushing the piston back in the housing or the housing and piston will pop off the housing mount and fall down behind the dash/carpet. If that happens, you can tear apart the whole footwell/carpet area to find and reinstall the damper or use the glovebox without a damper.
The UP is not the direction of the airflow as was stated in this video. The Air Flow is from top to bottom. All you need to do to confirm airflow direction is when you take the old filter out the dirt and junk side is the source side of the airflow. Many filters don't have UP on their cartridges but rather air flow direction so pay attention to the details.
Hi. I was trying to change the Air filter and ended up with the glove compartment coming loose. I tried multiple times to put it back, but it is not holding up. What might I be doing wrong? Thanks in advance.
Man why can't all DIY's be this straight fwd? Keep'em coming sir!

Thank you, you saved me about 50 bucks, I was able to replace my cabin air filter by my humble self, God bless you for making the DIY video.
Thank you for this video! The dealership wanted to charge me over $100 to do this!
Nice way of doing video without all the rambling on on on like some other's vids.
Thank you very much.
Thanks for your comment!
Be advised: even though some air filters have an UP⬆️, many have an arrow that indicates air flow. Air flow is actually down ⬇️ for this vehicle.
Excellent point and he should have said that in the video.
Thank you!

Correct
Thank you for the reminder!
Thanks .. I put the filter with arrow pointing up (air flow) as instructed on a video 6 months ago.. Now I see the dust and stuff on the wrong side..

That’s exactly happened to me now stupid arm who was holding the box disappeared 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Thank you for posting the video, it saved me a bit of csh by doing it myself and not taking my car to the dealer.
Thank you. I watched your video and replaced mine yesterday.

Nice! What happened to the interior?
The damper fell in the hole. Is it metal that is magnetic?
Thank you
Thank you very much. I'll replace it instead of my Toyota mechanic 😉
Thank you very easy to do. How often do you change yours.
Every 24,000 miles or 2 years.
Where do I order the new air filter for this model highlander ?

Спасибо из России, друг!)
Thanks ❤
Awesome 👌 thanks
Perfect, thanks.
Air flows from top to bottom. Be careful with the damper.
The damper fell off, how do I reinstall?
Thanks
Great!
Dealership: That'll be $200 for parts and labor.
Me: Yeah that's not gonna happen. I've got UA-cam.
Hey! 2016 highlander cabin air filter, which way should the arrow point when installing? Thanks
Depends on the brand. If it says up next to the arrow then up is up but if it says air flow, air flow arrows should point down.
Simple and sweet
Someone used the heck out of that HIghlander
Now I have a broken damper 🥹
Same thing happened to me now damper is disappeared and I can’t find anywhere I guess had to use glove box without that shit 🙄🤨🤯
And the dealer wanted. $ 90.bucks to do that...
I really appreciate your video!
Great help thanks
