To all the people who are suffering from bell's palsy I recommend you to eat broccoli for every meal, cut a ginger into pieces, boil it, then drink 5 times or more. 2 tablets of fish oil omega3 per day, 2 tablets of vit b12 200mcg-1000mcg per day and also a lot of rest is needed. I'm also suffering from bells palsy and this is my 12th day and I'm 80% okay now. I think by 3 weeks of maintaining these kind of treatment, we can fully recovered from bell's palsy. Always pray because God is always there for us.

After 11 years, now I'm back on this video haha
Had Bell's Palsy a decade ago and these exercises helped heaps for my bp recovery. Bp lasted for a month a half at that time and Bell's Palsy can really get to you if you experience it the first time.
Now my Bell's Palsy has reoccurred, it started last week and I'm on my second week now. Saw improvements around my eye and a little movement around my nose. Glad i can find your videos here on youtube everytime i do my exercises every morning and night. Thank you a lot.
Note for others: If it's your first time having a bells palsy, please go directly to your nearest eent and take all the prescribed medicines for your ears and some steroids for Bell's Palsy. AND religiously take all your medicines and these exercises ofcourse.
Do hot compress on your face every morning and every night. It'll help your blood to circulate well. And take a rest.

I had bell's palsy on the right side of my face during the winter and I thought it was an ear infection at first until I woke up the next day with half of my face frozen. I immediately did research on what it could possibly be and found out at the doctor's the next day. As soon as I knew what I was dealing with I searched for the most effective remedies online that would quickly get rid of this nightmare. Out of everything that worked from day 3 I took L-Lysine tablets 1500 mg, which was one and a half tabs, MSM 500 mg, B vitamins but in the form of methylcobalamin you can find at vitamin shops, so not the walmart kind. Also I ate omega 3 fish oil tablets, and avoided any foods high in sugar, any nuts, grapes, or chocolate because they are known to aggravate the condition. Within 3 weeks I was at about 85% recovered and 2 months completely healed. I'm not saying this regimen will work for everyone but with faith and a positive attitude it worked for me. Hope this helps anyone suffering.

My case is amongst the normal duration of recovery... 1 month to a year.
So happy to hear that yours was quick to recover! Having both sides paralyzed would be very difficult to manage for 1 year!!!

3 weeks ago and 95% better. I am so encouraged with this. I was told it may take 3-6 months. I just got it 3 days ago. I am a teacher and am feeling a little intimidated to face my students and colleagues. It's worse when I try to drink and eat and my affected eye has been hurting a lot.

I was just diagnosed with Bell's Palsy one week ago (April 23, 2015) and have been watching your video journey....it is helping to know there is hope. (Could not find a local support group, so it is great to have UA-cam!).
I did not get any facial exercise from the ER neurologist and was beginning to think I should be doing more than just taking the steroids/antiviral meds the Dr put me on.
It is 6 weeks until my follow up apt, so that feels like a LONG time until I can ask my Dr about exercises.
In the meantime, It REALLY helps to know that it is not necessary to plow right into to exercises/massage. This eases my mind a lot. Thank you!
PS One odd symptom I have that I have not heard about from anyone else is that my left eye (my Bell's is on the left side of my face) is blurry. I have an apt with an eye specialist (opthamologist) next week, but it is hard not knowing if this is normal for some people with Bells. I am wearing an eye patch and using Lacrilube eye oinment at night (as per your video which is great) and using the eye drops during the day, to keep my eye from drying out. Doing the best I can, as I am very new to all of this. I want to recover fully, so trying to be careful with stress, etc. as well.

you're so right about the stress thing, I got this facial nerve thing, and it was during a very stressful moment, now a week later, with some medication, I am getting so better, but the thing is when I started some stress relief practices, results are getting so better so faster, massage, vacation, letting go of some worries, all coming very useful, a piece of advise for everyone with Bell's palsy and other symptoms of stress, give yourself a bit of relaxation every now and then, life is not worth that loads of stress.

I have had Bells 5 days, and I have to tell you that most things on internet are informative but everything is speculative. That's scary!!! I recommend everyone to first see a DR before trying or doing any treatments. To think of permanent nerve damage because you see a you tube video showing a person trying hard repeatedly to close eyelid damaging the natural flow or doing facial exercises repeatedly overextending facial muscles which could lead to Synkinesis . Each case of Bells palsy is exclusive to each person. I know this In most case stress is a major factor, Stay positive Relax see a Dr and have patience. I hope everyone a full 100% recover. Bells+5

I get BP back in 96 but even though my face has straightened, I still don't have full movement. Probably Simitar to your recovery.as you also don't wrinkle on your forehead on your affected side when you frown. I don't think I'll get full recovery but I was looking for exercises to help relieve the tightness I feel in my face when the weather gets cold. And these exercises do help, so thank you. You're looking great. I really send strength to those people who've just been diagnosed it's a scary thing, but keep on fighting it with the steroids your doctor prescribes and exercise even though it hurts. Acupuncture also helped me regain some movement.

Hi my Bells Palsy initially occurred on 5/21/19. What I did- was watch your videos & others related to Bell’s palsy exercises, massage, nutrition etc here on UA-cam & applied those concepts. I did the facial exercises/massage videos I saw here & other UA-cam pages 2x/day & was consistent. I increased my vitamin b6& b12 supplement intake. In addition I started taking a Turmeric & Ginger combo supplement that I got @ Whole foods for inflammatory response. I began eating clean,Whole Foods. Similar to whole 30/paleo concepts.Initially in the emergency room the physician prescribed steroids & antiviral medication which I took & completed. In addition I started Accupunture as of the 1st week & went 1 x/week for 6 sessions. Even after the 1st session my coworkers noticed a difference.I am now 100% recovered 🙏🏼🙏🏼😬.I would say about week 5-6 is when I felt more “ normal”.Your positive motivation in your videos was very helpful. Since trying to reduce stress & remain positive is very important during recovery time. Since every person is different & each incident is different it’s always best to consult w/your physician.Thank you

Hi, I am a physiotherapist and I am loving these exercises. You do have to know that especially in the beginning you have to stretch the affected side but also massage the non-affected side (because you overstimulate that side because the affected side cannot move) otherwise your face can become crooked. And when you feel that the muscle activity is coming back after a few days/weeks, then do the exercises on both sides!

I've had BP for about a week now and fortunately it's not as severe a case as you have--in the past week blinking has become easier and I can actually make the horse sound with my lips and puff out the cheek, which is a vast improvement. I can now eat certain foods without it feeling like I've sprained my tongue. These exercises can only help.

I got BP 6 weeks after giving birth to my firstborn, on vacation in Italy. My mom prevented me to go to the hospital, said it would pass. I went to the hospital back in Norway but got an newbie who didn't know what to do. So I never received proper medication or treatment.
This was 8.5 years ago 😯 and it took at least 6 yrs for best recovery. But I look like a monster on photos 😯 unless I work really hard on getting the right angle and expression to disguise my BP. I lost the smile I always got compliments for.
But I will try the exercises and keep my fingers crossed that it will give me 100 % recovery of my face muscles. Now I am 90 % recovered but still miss smiling.

Hi all hope you are doing well. Yes I've tried acupuncture quite early on and a treatment called caci putting little electric currents across yr face, a bit like a tense machine. I thought maybe I could wake up my face. To be honest I was pretty desperate to try anything as16 weeks on there were no improvements. A year on and I was offered an endoscopic brow lift, looked great to start and then dropped quite soon. A little over another year on and a fugli brow lift was done for me, again it was a great result but it just hasn't lasted. 5 yrs on and I can genuinely say that massage and facial exercises really do help. The botox is such a relief as I get tight spasms across my chin and down my kneck. I use little pieces of clear body tape to help hold up my brow up when I put make up on, I've found it to be like an instant brow lift but without the pain of surgery... It would be great to hear if anyone knows of anything else that may help, take care and stay positive. Xx

My bells palsy was about a year ago and I still have tension sometimes, I also have a second nerve condition through a second set of facial nerves that shoot pain through my face (not all the time, just on occasion). This condition is trigeminal neuralgia. I take back often for that which is a nerve/muscle relaxer as needed only. Having a set of homeopathic exercises us always a best first option. I just tried these exercise, even the stupid ones and they have loosened up my face. I wish I had seen your video a year ago, or got the same paperwork you have. Thank you! I watched one of your other videos 1 week in, then saw your caution re starting too early. I held off, and now am ready. My doc strongly suggested visiting the eye doc for baseline pix to chart changes/damage from dry eye. At the least, eye should be taped at night. My doc stitched eye closed (nearly) and it remained that way for 2 weeks and a day. Not pretty or fun, but quite a relief..like having a sling for a broken arm.
Thank you again for all of your time and effort !!

I have Ramsay Hunt II which has a more difficult prognosis than Bells. It has the same components as Bells with CN7, but with several added issues because of CN8 involvement. I am more than 4 weeks into it and have no recovery at this point. These exercises are wonderful to see demonstrated. My EENT does not want me to do anything but wait for a year to see what happens. Not an acceptable treatment regimen so I need to be proactive. - You posted this 5 years ago, I hope your recovery is 100%. You are lovely and thanks for your kindness to help.

The best moment I had during all of this is when I get back to whistling. :) It made me so happy that I was able to whistle again!!!

I noticed My face drooping because I was on Zoom and I had a strange drooping smile. So I googled it and well I didn't have stroke symptoms but I did have all the Bell's Palsy ones. Thanks so much for this video as well as the pdf. I didn't realize how if I did these my face would actually hurt at first from the so everything in moderation right. But thanks so much and this is helpful. I am glad of Zoom for seeing this and catching as soon as I did.

I got Bells Palsy when I was 3 years old and it never went away. The doctors never told me to do exercises but I think its because they thought it would go away on its own. Since i grew up with Bells Palsy it never bothered me and it confused me when people asked about it (because i forgot i even had something wrong haha) Now that I am older I've decided I could work on the exercises. Your videos are helpful.

Before going to sleep, I felt a terrible pain in my jaw... like I had just been punched. But I managed to fall asleep despite it. I then woke up less then 7 hours later, with a pretty severe case of BP.

    Hello FitGirl15!
I got this sickness facialispares only 4 days ago. It started with my tounge had no feeling and no taste, and my right eye got very wet with much tears that never stopped. But I let it go and didn't bother more about this.
But next day it had gone worse and my mouth was very twisted, so then I got to hospital to get some treatment and medicin.
Only after three days I could manage to close my right eye almost compleatly if I first close my left eye. But I have to close my left eye very hard to be able to even close the right eye. It is my right side of my face that is the sick side.
To sleep I just put the pillow or the quit slightly against the right eye to make it close completely, and then I can sleep.
However, I just wanna thank you for the good video you uploaded with good instructions on how to massage the face!
    Btw, you look very good!

Had bells palsy on my right side of my face. Luckily it started slow so i was able get to the doctor before it get even worse. When i started to meds, 80% of the right side of my face was paralyzed. With the help of meds and intense excercise i started to recover in the fifth day of meds.
i chewed gums all the time, at least 6-8 hours of the day. Inflating balloons also helped a lot.
If you suffering from this problem go watch all videos about it and learn all the exercises. You'll be good. Besides chewing gums exercise 5 times a day.
I was recovered 90% in 10 days, 99% in 15 days and fully recovered in 3-4 weeks. Early diagnoses was the number one reason i recovered this fast imho.

Actually, you should massage the healthy side of your face too, more over, you should start with that!
The reason to this is the "consensualis effect" (sorry i didnt find the right word for it, in my native language it is called "konszenzuális hatás"). Basically it means, that when you massage the healthy side of your body, it affects the other side in the same segment region, due to how the connection of the nervous system is built up.
So when you start with doing massage on the healthy side of your face, it will affect the other side too, by sending neuro signs to you brain from the healthy one, which (as it always does in the human body!) will send neuro sings to the other side. You can imagine it as "indirective nerve massage", or rather "nerve stimulation" if you will.
So to sum up, pay attention to massage your healthy side of well, in fact, start with that! Of course you don't have to pay that big attention to it, but still, give it some of that goody!:) It is important to make the brain to try to contact with the unhealthy/paralyzed muscles, don't let that nerve get abandoned!
Wish all of you a quick and strong recovery!
