Anyone else just really impressed/baffled that they could poach an egg, wrap it in dough, then cook it again but still have a runny yolk?
Mrs. B they probably froze the egg before putting it in the dough and frying it.
rexington john I’ve watched a video of them making it and they actually don’t freeze the egg. They just poach it the bare minimum to have enough structure to the white that it contains the egg yolk inside.
It’s a much more impressive doughnut, IMO. Any clown can cut a doughnut in half and stick fried chicken inside (;
You can just boil it for 1 minute and put it in ice bath peel it with a teaspoon i do this for my ramen 🍜

+Dan R. A lot of people want to say that people who dislike commonly liked things are picky. I hate tomatoes, but I happily eat things that others find gross, and yet people still call me picky.

Different cooking styles that's for sure. Doughnuts are deep fried. Bagels are boiled then baked.

@@sybaritesphynx8057 I know, I'm also a picky eater (the reason my husband loved Sortedfood is because I found a lot more recipes I like), but for someone who eats the stuff Link eats for living, runny egg is a big update.

I really want to just say thank you guys. I have been having a really rough year. I got into a car accident the day after my birthday, and haven't really been the same since. I have been really depressed but my fiancé knows that watching you guys just puts the biggest smile on my face. Between Sorted food and GMM, these two shows basically helped me through the dark hole of post-breakup depression. It seems like it doesn’t matter how grim the day is, you guys can always distract me of my pain and put a smile on my face. I watched episodes after episodes of re-runs. Hmm. What defines a "donut?" I don't think the fried chicken sandwich qualifies as a "donut." It's a sandwich...that uses a donut as bread. The chile mango sounds like it was more of sweet donut than a savory donut. In my opinion, that leaves the eggs benedict donut as the only real savory donut on the table.
Being on a sandwich doesn't make the donuts not be donuts anymore. It was donuts plus extra stuff, same as James's and Jamie's
Except the eggs benedict donut still took the shape and form of a donut. Rhett and Links was a Sandwich made using a donut but definitely not a donut.

Emily Creamer That's why I started with the question asking what "defines" a donut. If you cut any donut in half and put whatever in it, does that turn it into a hamburger donut, ham and cheese donut, baloney donut, etc? If you use an potato roll instead of a regular bun, does it make it a hamburger potato roll or is it still a just a hamburger? In my opinion, because you can easily remove the donut "bread" and just as easily replace it with something else, it's a sandwich and not a donut. The other two cannot easily have their "extras" removed and replaced with something else. The chili mango is a variation of a conventional frosted donut and the eggs benedict is like a jelly donut (basically a filled donut). But up to you.
Exactly. If you get a sandwich on a croissant, you wouldn't tell someone you're having a croissant! You're having a sandwich!
