Looks awesome. I broke the frame on my 3" BHR, and replaced it with a iFlight frame, and still flying the crap out of it. Last summer, it spent 3 rainy weeks in a tree, and when it got it down and dried it out, flew fine. Can't kill it.
That thing looks cool. the power on demand... And it looks planted . But not sure i'd want to fly 4". Might as well just fly 5" imo. I just think that 2.5 - 3" is the sweet spot. No noise maximum fun..
From what i've come across, this will ship with BF 4.0.4 installed. I didn't even know 4.0.4 was out yet, but that's what's being said. For the battery strap, I'd just run it around the bottom plate, instead of through those 2 cutouts. It'll take up some of the strap length, and will sit more snug against the bottom plate. Great flying Nick, rip!!! Actually, in looking closer, looks the strap may not go around the whole bottom plate, especially with those caps sitting there. That's too bad.
Dude! Love your flying, that's one tight spot for a 4". That's a shame about the broken arm. I've been trying to find my sweet size for where I fly. I went from 5" to 3" last year. I don't fly with a go pro, It's about that thrust. The 3' were cool, but still not quite right. Over last winter I built myself a 4" and have been loving it this year. @Allen Brooks They are all older 4-inch quads, like the JJPro P175 which has RS2205 2600Kv motors - which is where most of the weight comes from. I did modify it a bit to get the weight down though. I also have a Kingkong Rammus 180 (which has a heavy but very durable frame) and, a RealAcc Y180 - which is quite a bit lighter but, not durable at all. What's interesting about the whole 250g thing is that the UK threw a wrench in the system by saying that if it's under 250 and doesn't fly faster than 40mph then you're ok. Heck, even some whoops can do 40mph.
I have had the same complaint on the past when 4" is all I flew, but now there are slightly more options. Part of the issue is that with a light 4" setup, aggressive props are hard on 1407 motors withu

Hi Nick! I like the 4” class a lot but, the size is affected by a camera like a GoPro where there is at least 50 or 60 grams. With the new split-type cameras they have, I am predicting that we’ll see a bunch of these come out with the HD video recording ability on board.
Wow, no wonder they were always out of stock on the 3 inch. Very nice quad, but that frame break is a bad omen in my opinion, as it looks like it may be a weakness inherent to the design, considering that the carbon was under compression at that point and it split at the motor holes. I would have been more forgiving if it had broke where the arms are more narrow. However, that could had have just been the perfect crash too. We’ll just have see how the frame holds up. *All in all it’s still a super nice quad for a 4 inch flying buddy.*
I've been hoping for a renewed interest in 4in quads for a while, the motors are there, but we desperately need a new generation of props. I'm glad Emax came out with this one. Right now I'm buidling a CMW Superlight 4R with the same 1606-3300kv motors, lol. It should haul a$$. I will try those props for sure.

Electonics are getting smaller and lighter and better all the time. The smaller quads can finally be built to an appropriate AUW that doesnt destroy the performance. i ran xt30 vs xt60 on both 3300kv and 4000kv emax 1606 motors with the same exact results as far as sag. The cnhl 1000mah is the best overall performing lipo for this quad. adding an xt60 to a 4inch and below would be like adding a xt90 to 5 thru 7 inch no point. EVL FPV
you need a 3" octocopter now that you can corner trees so well. i think you should fly that model more often. that said its not for me so what ever that means haha.
nope media embargo. I think its good, means reviewers will have more time, rather than a 1 day review. I do wish we would know when the embargo is over when we get the product. Otherwise the review could still be "rushed".
Thanks, it kinda feels rushed in these emax reviews, you get it and don't know when the embargo is going to be lifted. Then one day you get a message with a date to publish. Its the unknown that makes me feel rushed. I have had ample time in both cases.
which kid I like more? Depends on the day :) I would go ER349. I really think the ER349 is straight line faster and has more thrust and possibly better power to weight ratio. Unfortunately this video was done and recorded before I had flown the ER349. Then the BHR4 release got pushed back but I didn't have time to redo the edit. :(
Hi there Nick. Looks promising. Good for Emax and newer pilots. Thanks for posting. Which let’s me to my question. I just ordered a set of rcinpower 1506 v2 4200kv motors for a 3” Impulse Rc Alíen frame and was wondering if you think it would do well on 4” props when adding 4” arms to it. I usually like to build it myself but haven’t built a 4” yet and this video put the idea in thought What do you think 🤔? Either way I’d like to hear your thoughts. Much appreciate it. ✌️👊
I have tried something similar, although it was more than a year ago. I was running 4inch tri blades, I felt it lacked the prop control I wanted to tune it well and fly like I wanted. If there is a 4inch bi blade that could have better results. Or just a lighter less pitched 4inch tri blade.
Nick, product listings for this quad all mention 6s capability. The motor KV seems too high for 6s. Do you know if it can run 6s as is or if another version might be coming out with lower KV motors? P.S. RDQ just got some 550 and 650mah 6s batteries yesterday.
It seems to me the kv is high for 6s, the material I received with the quad state a recommended battery of 4s 850mah. I suspect either 6s is in reference to the flight stack, or I am just wrong and it is 6s capable. I will reach out to emax.
@@NickBurnsFPV I haven't seen any video of it being flown on 6s. The RDQ product description in particular indicates that it can take 6s: " This thing can even handle the new RDQ Series 6S 550 and 6S 650 Packs but be careful! "
Great channel new sub ! Im debating on this vs new 5 inch i only fly 3 inch at the moment you were ripping pretty hard if you cruise a little more is this capable of 5 minute flights i can fly baby H r3 with runcam 5 on it 3 minutes i am wanting to mount hero 7 on it
Hey welcome and thank you. I do think much longer flights are possible. A while back I took a quad for a an "extreme endurance run". What was a 2.5min flight my normal pace, became almost 7.5mins. That doesn't give proof of this quad flying for 7mins, but a 1000mah battery and a bit different pace will likley more than double the flight time.
Hey Nick if you were to race yourself with this quad and the New Diatone ER349 which would you think would be better? Like faster, tighter, smoother! I’m working my way up to so 5” racing and was wondering your opinion on which would be a all around better racer? Great review! I’d love to see you do more 4 or even 5” quads if nothing else to compare! Too many reviewers aren’t honest and straight forward anymore because reviews have become there job. Not so with this channel. Thanks for another great review!
Racing in something like my backyard? I am biased, I like the ER349 more. Provided we can carry a battery that doesn't bog the 349 down and lets us complete the laps needed for the race, I would likely go ER349, less inertia/weight and I think its likely just as fast as the BHR4.
Thanks for the quick reply. You should drop in one Tue night at our independent Discord we do live voice chats! We’d love to have you stop by anytime... our Discord is called “The lost quad”.
Wow this looks like another winner from E Max, nice review, and a big👍all the time. I'm building with those motors now, and people are telling me their running hot with little d gain, if possible could you please post the pids? Thanks for all your reviews!
Good quad, fly's well, BUT... Overall, I like the quad. I would have gladly paid more for a better TX antenna and a top cover that would allow for a better antenna. The replacement cover for the BHR is much better but it wont fit on the pro. I put a TBS micro RHCP and had to modify the top to get it to fit. EMAX, I like your products, but c'mon man. If you don't want to put on better antennas then design a cover that will allow for better antenna fitment. After-all a quad is only as good as the ability to transmit and receive information. Also, the Battery Strap is way to long.
Tried it over lunch today. It does show the board target, full version number and date released, but not if its an RC or not. We would have look up or know when the RC have been released.
Looking good, ripping this around your backyard. Wish Emax would send me one, and i would explore places like this with it: ua-cam.com/video/gBR5GYEtF1E/v-deo.html Maybe you can put in a good word for me, I tried to contact Emax in the past, but don't even get a reply, so I don't know if messages just not get replied to, or maybe even simply get blocked by a spam filter. Shameless plug aside ;-), back to the Pro 4, I think the location of the capacitators is a bit of a pita. It's better than sticking out like on the 2 inch, ready to be chopped or broken off any time, but still not great, now blocking the option to re-route the battery strap. I agree a canopy with a flat top would be nice, people will want to put hd camera on this for sure.
Best way is likely to reach out to the EMAX team on FB. I didn't make contact with them, about a year ago a member of the team contacted me. I don't feel its prop for me to name them or send their contact info around. I am sure doing some research online will yield the info you seek. :)
No, I generally don't fly when they are out gardening or what not. I also don't generally fly anything over 3inch, this was a rarity. My wife says she can't here the flying within our own house, so I presume its not all that loud.

i ran xt30 vs xt60 on both 3300kv and 4000kv emax 1606 motors with the same exact results as far as sag. The cnhl 1000mah is the best overall performing lipo for this quad. adding an xt60 to a 4inch and below would be like adding a xt90 to 5 thru 7 inch no point. EVL FPV
I just bought one will you consider switching to a xt60 connector since i have more 850mah xt60 lipos?
your asking me if I would switch to xt60? I wouldn't as all my batteries are xt30, but if your batteries are xt60 switching would make sense.
you need a 3" octocopter now that you can corner trees so well. i think you should fly that model more often. that said its not for me so what ever that means haha.
I did see that RR episode, Vanover was killing it.
Whats the frame length ?
I believe 160mm, my calipers doing go to that length, but me showing it is in the video.
@@NickBurnsFPV THanks!
Awesome video!
Thank you, I appreciate it.
Thank you very much for this useful review 🙏👍❤️🍺
Emax not allowing you guys to schedule your own video on this model (like the last)
nope media embargo. I think its good, means reviewers will have more time, rather than a 1 day review. I do wish we would know when the embargo is over when we get the product. Otherwise the review could still be "rushed".
@@NickBurnsFPV Thanks for your reply Nick. 👍 Never feels like you've rushed a video.
Thanks, it kinda feels rushed in these emax reviews, you get it and don't know when the embargo is going to be lifted. Then one day you get a message with a date to publish. Its the unknown that makes me feel rushed. I have had ample time in both cases.
Nick hi.
Can i ask, or this is one of the questions which 'kid' you like more ;)
ER349 - Diatone or BabyHawk R Pro 4 ??
which kid I like more? Depends on the day :)
I would go ER349.
I usually like to build it myself but haven’t built a 4” yet and this video put the idea in thought
What do you think 🤔?
@@NickBurnsFPV Thanks! That lines up with my thinking. I'm curious what Emax has to say about it.
I have been told the flight stack is 6s capable. I was asked if someone was flying it on 6s. Is there a 6s flight video out somewhere?
You know your track so well that you could probably fly a x class back there 😎
That might be but I am not trying that. X class is huge and scary.

Spot is for battery leads
What time do you guys generally start? or is a stop in anytime event? I generally can't do much before 9:30PM. :(
Nick Burns we usually start at 8pm CST and go late into usually. We hardly ever ate before midnight. People come and go!
They needed to make up for that flying bottle opener they came out with..😂
I didn't fly that one, was there something wrong with it, or just a gimmick?
Which one are you talking about
It was a good crash but I think it should've survived. Maybe try 4mm chamfered next time, or make the base of those mounts beefier.
I really didn't think it was broken on impact. I had more batteries ready to go. 😠
You ripping it!!!
Nick what the heck? Just yank it out with no warning?
Wow this looks like another winner from E Max, nice review, and a big👍all the time. I'm building with those motors now, and people are telling me their running hot with little d gain, if possible could you please post the pids? Thanks for all your reviews!
Type version and hit enter to see what version and which fc
but does that tell us if its a release candidate? I thought I had tried this command, but I will try it again. Thank you
I could see you crashed because the battery sagged out, you didn't have the same thrust.
"I'd zip tie it something like this. It's something I would do if this was mine" well who's is it.... Mine?! Lmao 😂🤣
odd phraseology. I can be a odd duck sometimes.😄
Also, the Battery Strap is way to long.
heavier quads crash harder, thats a main drawback IMO
that they do.
I always give you 👍 if I watch the video
Thank you, I appreciate it.
@@NickBurnsFPV no thank you.... you the man
Emax, send one mine way! Haha! Pretty please?!?
Hello u fine folk
Cli =Version
That tells us if its a release candidate? I thought I had tried that.
@@NickBurnsFPV I'm not in front of a PC but it should give the full version # when I get in front of a computer I'll double check for you
Tried it over lunch today. It does show the board target, full version number and date released, but not if its an RC or not. We would have look up or know when the RC have been released.
Looking good, ripping this around your backyard. Wish Emax would send me one, and i would explore places like this with it: ua-cam.com/video/gBR5GYEtF1E/v-deo.html
Maybe you can put in a good word for me, I tried to contact Emax in the past, but don't even get a reply, so I don't know if messages just not get replied to, or maybe even simply get blocked by a spam filter.
Lol.....do your neighbors ever complain about the decibel pollution?
No, I generally don't fly when they are out gardening or what not. I also don't generally fly anything over 3inch, this was a rarity. My wife says she can't here the flying within our own house, so I presume its not all that loud.
@@NickBurnsFPV Question....so my neighbors haven't complained either........."YET", so the idea of setting up a quiet motor/prop combo on a 5" I presume is a dream only? Since you've flown many 3in and below quads can you provide some recommendations for some relatively quiet 3in and below quads that fly on 3s to 4s.
I suspect that is a dream, 5inch is a different beast. I think the most quiet 3inch is the 3inch t style avan prop from emax.
Oh, first!
