    A 986 was what I could afford. And it’s a real Porsche! I’m on my second one now and I still love the platform! I drive it 3 seasons. I use it to pick up stuff at Home Depot as well as drives out of town and, of course, the track! Those other cars aren’t Porsches, can’t comment.

    Good work on the O2 sensor wiring , very smart , and the exhaust sounds so good ! , when I renewed my headers I gently warmed the engine up and then loosened the manifold bolts ,I don't know if that made any difference but all the bolts came out ok . I stuck the manifold gasket on the headers with a couple of dabs of superglue , just to hold it in place as it was awkward to fit the headers with the gasket sliding around , nice video as ever !

    Can you provide the actual vendor, make and model of headers with the high flow cats? I cannot find them online - thanks!

      Hi, I'm thinking that the company disappeared. It was called Circuit Werks.

    Sounds very nice. What’s next for the Boxster? Are highlift cams available for this engine?

      Speedwelltuning If you’ve seen my “Top 20” video, you can see that I’m thinking to spend more money at the track this year and less on the car. Further mods are going to get pretty expensive. I think I’d rather up my game to a Cayman S.

    Reviving this, did you end up with any CEL issues? If so, how did you resolve that?

    • @NewArt1
      @NewArt1  4 роки тому +1

      Glad you asked! Yes, these cats are not efficient enough to prevent a cel. You can tune it out , add O2 extenders or buy a better quality high flow cat (maybe Fabspeed) It’s probably a case of “You get what you paid for “

    Thanks for the video. I have an 01 and my cats are garbage, and I keep having to reset my CEL for the codes too. I found your video because I'm thinking of doing exactly the same thing. Circuit Werks headers and high flow cats--way cheaper than replacing the OEM manifolds/cats. After seeing your video, I think I can do that and just stick with the stock muffler for now, though it seems an upgrade there will be needed to really get much performance enhancement. Anyway, how did it affect your CEL? Did that work itself out, or did you have to have your tuner do something to keep the CEL from coming on?

    • @NewArt1
      @NewArt1  4 роки тому

      tweetdriver When I first did the installation, I didn’t get a cel. I am now getting one but this may be due to my ruining the cats at the track when my engine blew up. A ROW tune would probably fix this or it can be fixed by my tuner. Ill probably do this in the spring.

    Any drone with this exhaust and which was louder headers with high flow and stock muffler or stock manifold with no secondary and stock muffler

    • @NewArt1
      @NewArt1  3 роки тому

      These modifications were made with hopes for performance gains. I wanted to increase air flow. The headers and high-flow cats achieved this although I kept the stock muffler to keep my wife and neighbours happy 😊! No drone with either setup. Again, probably due to the stock muffler.

      @@NewArt1 Ah I see because I have a factory Porsche sports exhaust with valves for my 986 Boxster S and I want to make it louder keep in mind it’s the US car with 4 cats but I do not know if I want to go with
      1:just secondary cat bypass and my pse
      2:catless headers and pse
      3:full catless with headers and secondary cat bypass and pse (scared about drone)
      Also wondering if potential for flames if I when full catless 🔥

    Did you have any leaks at the mid-pipes and headers that you had to address?? Thanks.

      One of the flanges didn’t mate properly but I was able to bend it into place using brute force and a c-clamp!

    Hi Newart. Which brand did you go for with the secondary cats? Also, what was the cell you you where clearing for the failing cats? Which P #. Thanks And great vid.

    • @NewArt1
      @NewArt1  6 років тому +1

      The high flow cats were provided by Circuit Werks out of Texas, I think. The codes were the P0430 and P0420 , indicating cat efficiency deficits on banks 1 and 2 respectively.

    If you can make time do more videos, it would be appreciated?
    What made you get the 986?
    Is it a daily drive-able car? Can it be street parked being a soft top?
    Compared to a BMW 330ci and a BENZ CLK500 of similar years is this 986 a good alternative?

      I know you asked your question a year ago, but I chose my Boxster over a bunch of other 2-seat convertibles because 1, it's a Porsche, and 2, it has a lot of space in two trunks. Most other 2-seat convertibles don't have much space at all. They have the engine in the front, and most of them use up almost all the space in the back storing their roofs. MX5, Z350, TT, Solstice (POS anyway), SLK, etc. Not much trunk space.
      I drive my Boxster as my daily, and it's a great car. Comfortable and easy to drive, and gets looks. I don't think many people have any idea my car is pushing 20 years old now, or that I paid less than $8000 for it 3 1/2 years ago.
