Hi Chuck glad to see you back at it... Have you ever thought to chuck the tungsten in a hand drill and then run it on the grinder to get a more uniform taper???

Not necessary, but what about turning the rod with a cordless drill.while grinding. it would be a perfect tip every time.

@@Thatdamfishingguy it's OK as long as you do not spiral the grinding marks. The striations have to be straight in line with the rod.

HELL WHEN I WAS HELPING MY FATHER (HE WAS A RIGWELDER) I USED A 9 INCH ANGLE GRINDER ,SET IT WITH THE DISC HORIZONTAL TO THE TAIL GATE ,BENCH GROUND OR WHATEVER YOU HAVE ,TURN IT ON AND SPIN THE TUNGSTOEN .
POPS WOULD SHOW OFF AND SHARPEN IT WITH AN OXY/ACETYLENE TORCH. THAT WAS OVER 45 YEARS AGO.

Do you need a certain type of disc? Or maybe a certain grit?

Likewise you also want the grinder to run away from the tungsten so you do not contaminate the tungsten. You can put the tungsten into a drill chuck. That's a pro gamer move though.
