@@TorvekMotors okay thankyou for your advice. But one more.. if the driveway is too narrow to make an angle, how to solve that problem without scratch or even worse damage our bumper?
I guess at that point you might want to check if parking going forward will work. But it will all depend on the angle. If its too bad, maybe dont park there. We can only clear a certain angle
After i lowered my car i drive with fear now 😂 if is not the lip is the damn Side skirts if not the side skirts the wheels God damn it When im on the freeway the struggle is worst 😂😂 but i love how my car looks low 😩
I was going to lower my car... But seeing the amount of effort it takes just to reverse, go over bumps etc... Knowing me I'll have a lapse then totally mash up my front bumper. So imma keep my car at its factory ride height.. in the name of peace of mind
i know i’m a little late but i think it depends. if you are just lowering it but not adding a skirt then i think that you would be fine. if you are adding the skirt though it might be a challenge to drive
Very good info mate! Im lowered 30mm now and i couldn’t drive like it was stock anymore. Just recently hit a bump and i didn’t slowed down, it hit my undercarriege “craaackk” sound, hope i dont damage anything 😖
So basically on bumps..we have to hit the breaker at an angle so that one wheel touches the breaker first. If both wheels will touch at the same time then lip will kiss the road Isnt it?
I don’t worry about my front lip when I drove because I know its durable and I try to avoid pot holes etc.. sometimes you just have to send it and what happens.. happens 🤣
Excellent video, something that’s helped me with a large driveway incline is a set of two small driveway curb ramps. Approach at an angle and line up both wheels with the ramp
The only video on UA-cam providing tips on this thanks! I have a G29 Z4 getting a huge front splitter and springs (30mm) on soon and I'm scared haha, I live in the UK and we have the worst roads here so I'm just going to drive slow lol
EJ20 Imp I did rub a bit on big dips with the 20inch on 12mm on front. So I swapped to 10mm and no issues now. No rub on corners. With the 19 no rub on all situations with the 15mm spacers.
I wish someone would make a video w an actual dip. All the ones I see on yt have these little ass dips but living in the city they are huge and I scrape legit everytime on my splitter and then my exhaust
You can't very well drive at an angle on a speed bump if there's a car coming from the other direction. But you can't necessarily stop in traffic to let the other car pass, especially if it's a busier street or road.
Oh my god I’ve had my car for 10 months and I always drive through this parking structure with a huge dip and everytime I exit, I cringe as I scrape my bumpers. I did not know you were supposed to angle it lmao thank you for saving me 😂
There were some really bad speed bumps in a parking lot and everytime my front lip cleared them, the jump would slam against my side skirts. No matter how slow I went. My driveway also is a dirt road that goes down at a slope and angle straight again right at the entrance/exit that goes into the Main Street and there’s almost no way to avoid hitting it I just have to be super lucky and skille d
Nice ass m3 and I sure will watch my butholes on the highways, video was great liked the angle of your camera man he sure knew how to get the job done I was wondering how do you pull into a restaurant, store,or gas station that’s gas the same dip as your drive way if there’s cars behind you as your drive
Good stuff.. you should call it lowered cars for dummies, lol.... also intersections can be one of the worst to clear. I also like to know what the parking lot is like of the place I'm going. If I am unsure of the obstacles in a parking lot I will take my wife's car instead, much more clearance. A little more clearance is one more reason why I chose my Zl1 over the C7 Z06
Great video! I have one question- on a driveway, I know you have to always go at an angle with one wheel touching the ground before the other to get leverage, but does it matter which wheel touches the ground first? For instance, if I'm making a right turn, does it make a difference if I hit the ground with either front left or right wheel? I noticed that you would use the left wheel in this instance to touch the ground first. I'm assuming it's because the right side of the wheel is too close to the ground for clearance with the lip on, so you would want to use the left wheel for more clearance? Correct me if I'm wrong!
on the video I tried to show two approaches. It does not matter which front touches first. I believe it depends on which side you are when you start the process. Try a few times and you will find what works for you. Hopefully this helps!
When you go through a peed bumps or driveway, did you step on the brake pedal while moving slowly with an angle? You seem to be going very slow and if you are stepping on the brake I heard it’s bringing the front level down isn’t it? Thanks in advance
Excellent video. Definitely learn something from this video. I've got the similar car 4 series bmw and will definitely be cautious when driving on those similar road thanks to this video. 👌
Hey bro,how low did u go? Installing coilovers on my 2014 x1 sdrive. Performance shop said they lowered it 1.5 front and 2 back. Am I ok. First coilovers install. I understand yours is springs although.
With coilovers you can adjust the heights I think I went 1.5 inch lower on front. But again the M3 is lower than the x1 already. I think you should be fine
how do i get passed dips in the road when there’s a green light with out getting rear ended. i have to slow down at the green light and people think i’m turning so they speed up
Do you guys scrape the floor when accelerating through turns? I'm bouncing off the ground when taking even wide turns like on a highway ramp and accelerating through it
Any recommendations for driving around dc since i notice your plates and since we always repairing the streets first time riding with coilovers in the dmv area
I have this issue. My driveway is steep and it goes down under my house at about 15 degrees. I can’t do the turn thing because it’s only about 10 feet wide. Is there any thing I can do?
Thank you. My car is in the shop getting a new lip and bumper... 2 lips have flew off now due to me hitting stoppers and now I'm getting a whole new front and will follow this to the T lol
I have normal car, but steep drive way.. and not as wide as yours.. cannot do a big S, I do notice sometimes I cannot feel scratched, sometimes I did- new driver.. any tips?
hi sir, how do you exactly when to turn the steering to clear the front? any exact trick to know if the angle I have is enough or if I need to widen the angle more?
Had a kid yesterday nice Mercedes was parked and when he backed out he ripped his front bumper off because he parked over the barrier. I was laughing it was not a good one it was laying halfway off the car.
