God delivered me from lesbianism and gender dysphoria over 35 years ago. His words to me back then were almost verbatim of those Christopher shared: it's about identity in Christ and choosing holiness over sin. God is in the business of setting captives free and transforming lives. Never give up hope on someone who is gay. God is much bigger and more powerful than the enemy!

What an outstanding video. I lived in the gay lifestyle for 40 years. Ten years ago when I surrendered to Christ I went through all the phases discussed. But I kept seeking what God says rather than how I feel. I totally agree with Christopher, I see every aspect of my homosexuality as sin to be resisted, actions, thoughts, desires. Of course that means I see every aspect of my human sin nature as sin to be resisted, not just my same sex attractions. I remember asking the Lord how ever He expected me to change, to not be the person I had been since childhood. He answered me:
II Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new."
I'm NEW, and being made new every day.

I agree with you except for the last part, we are made new once (that is, we are born as children, Matthew 18:3, 1 Timothy 3:6) and then we grow up in Christ (being transformed into his image, 2 Corinthians 3:18).

This still adds resistance, hence dignifying or strengthening sin and our belief in its hold on us. Holiness has no interest in sin. Sin is performed in order to fill a hole. Holiness is closer to “wholeness” than that “with holes”. Holiness is complete without holes that need filled.

This is a great video - I’m only 20 minuets in, so far I have this to say, I’m an ex homosexual, and ever since I came to Christ I have learnt allot about what makes me me and what drove me to make the choices I made, atleast personally my homosexuality was driven by a few different things - the need for a father like figure, craving male attention to make up for the lack of attention and time I had with my father when I was young. - lust, envy and jealousy, if I could ‘get with’ a guy that I found physically attracted it appeased these feelings and made me feel better about myself - a perversion of natural appreciation for gods creations, even now I appreciate greatly the physical beauty of males and females but there’s a difference between appreciation and lustful thoughts/motives - attraction to dark spirits, yes I genuinely was attracted to males that had broken dark spirits within them, that demonic look in the eyes I used to find very attractive. I think deep down I wanted to help these people but it was perverted into something else. Also I did have a couple of instances of abuse as a child, which added to this. I diddnt learn much from the bible about my sexuality to be honest but the Holy Spirit led me to the infomation I desperately asked for. Don’t get me wrong I still struggle sometimes even now, but not in the same way, I recognise those attractions for what they are now, so it’s more of a personal battle against my past fleshly nature because I recognise that I have become a different person since coming to Christ, For the past year or so I’ve even started having opposite sex attraction, and I asked God for this, I want to have a family some day, wife and kids, all that. And I’m well on my way to being able to achieve that, God has been too good to me, my homosexuality is just one of the many aspects of my past life, I was a horrible person to put it nicely, which like homosexuality still haunts me time to time, but God is always there and my desire for my old habits has been dissipating over time. I do believe one day I will be completely free of my past. 🙏 Amen

You and I have the same testimony! I have (still presently struggling hard) the same driven factor of the need for a father like figure, and as certain men did come into my life for a time, the urges were dormant. As life changed and I lost fellowship with these men I succumbed to sexual desire and it worked in the moment, but I was always left with a gaping sense of emptiness and shame. I allowed it to go on for 3 years, nearly deafening myself to the Holy Spirit. He let me suffer greatly in this sinful lifestyle. I avoided it at all costs in my early 20's, desperately clinging to remaining faithful for a wife. It was when I was 27 (30 now) I decided to take matters into my own hands, and its been the worst 3 years of my life. The depression, the loneliness, the shame, the alcohol to numb it all, it brought all sorts of defilement that stained my soul.
I wanted to be happy, and not alone. Now, I want to just imitate God's Holiness as much as I can, if that means remaining celibate for the rest of my life, I prayed that I would faithfully obey that. I think of James 4, about how His Spirit Jealously yearns for the affection from our spirit. If we resist the Devil, He WILL flee, and as we Draw near to God He draws near to us. I'm washing my hands from this lifestyle in Jesus name, trusting the Spirit will both purge me of this desire, and walk with into a deeper communion and Fellowship.

Hi Christopher! Solid Biblically sound information as usual. I would just add that now as a trauma therapist with an understanding of how God can meet our deepest needs through healing, He IS near to the broken-hearted. Many find the reduction or eradication of their desires through that developmental and other healing processes. I know this isn’t Christopher’s story or understanding, but as a sinner with former same sex desires, the developmental healing process was vital to me still being alive. Inner healing is not Freudian, it’s Biblical.

A huge issue, especially in today’s culture, is our individual identities. Before anything else, father, husband, man, I am a Christian.
Our culture, probably due to the absence of God and this victim mentality, has caused people to loose their identity in faith, and find their identity in their actions.
I fear this idea has infiltrated the church, and more and more people are finding their identity in their sins and lifestyles, and not in Christ.

In a world where knowledge isn't controlled by religion people can now learn the history of the christian movement since its conception. Most only learn the origin of the faith itself. They dont take the time to learn the history of their chosen church or denomination. They know Hebrew history better than they know their own. The old testament showed its leaders faults and the consequences that would follow. Christianity does not. The Roman's spread Christianity and since then Democracy and Christianity spread as one. Everyone uses a version of the Roman Catholic bible. Yet they claim still hebrew history. Why if they are such proud people do they not wish to know their own histories? Is it because its ugly and without repentance. Is it because their holy leaders were known to participate in homosexuality and various other sins that would make us cringe? The church hides its history in the same way governments do. How is that holy? And why would I choose to learn the truth from liars and thieves. Faith in a holy books is not faith in God. It is believing in the first "man" that claimed God spoke to him for the purpose of leading his people. That's all. Every "prophet" is unique. Just as every man is unique.

As a Christian, who battles, same-sex attraction and came out of the lifestyle. I want to thank you so much for this.
So I’m also a confessional Lutheran, and I think many Lutheran pastors handle this very well, but I listened to one recently, and I just felt like his assertions of same-sex attracted individuals, just did not include Hope. He said that the Kupets of the same-sex attracted individual is unique Because homosexuality goes against nature, it does go against nature that is for sure. But even in heterosexual relationships, you should not marry to fulfill your lust.
Lust no matter what is a sinful desire, and there’s no way for that desire to come to fruition in a way that honors God
But anyway, when he was talking about the same sex, attracted individuals, he kind of made it seem like your choices are mixed orientation, marriage or celibacy. Mind you I deal with same-sex attraction and I’m gonna be very honest about that my future wife. But I would not label my marriage as a mixed orientation. How is my future wife supposed to feel about that? I feel like it would make her feel like I’m not attracted to her. it also kind of makes it seem like I have same attraction that I just have to carry a burden of sorrow for the rest of my life and I just don’t think that’s true
I think there’s joy and beauty in God created order

A little more than halfway thru and must pause now to go make sure the birds are all set up for the night. Wanted to make a quick note to say two things. First, I think this is the best and most accurate detailing of what's been going on with with "A" or "B" side, Revoice, etc. and Christopher is spot on with his analysis. (On a side note, I do wish he had delved a little more into Exodus and it's start with Joe Dallas and then what happened when he left/was runoff.
The second thing I just quickly wanna mention is Christophers commentary on 1st Cor. 7. I think he missed the boat there with his interpretation of Paul's use of "calling". The portion of the passage that Christopher refers to is sandwiched between two passages, and in fact the entire chapter, regarding Marriage and Divorce. Furthermore, Paul refers to his singleness as a "gift" earlier. So I do believe in the "gift of singleness" but it is the exception and not the rule for obvious reasons.
All that said, he's spot on with what's really behind the A/B/Revoice "agenda". It's playing around with sin. Oh, and I almost forgot. The one thing I REALLY liked what Christopher bringing out the TRUTH that even the desires and thoughts are sinful. Doug Wilson wrote a fantastic article a few years ago entitled "Growing Corn On An Asteroid".
Look forward to finishing this when I get back in but for now VERY thankful for the refreshing TRUTH and wisdom being relayed.

I look forward to the video, but the answer to this is fairly simple with a Biblical worldview.
Can someone with homosexual temptations, and/or someone who used to practice homosexuality, be a Christian? Yes. As we all experience temptation in some form and homosexual behavior is entirely forgivable by God once repented from the same as any other sin.
Can a practicing homosexual be a Christian? No. As that demonstrates a lack of repentance, and repentance is as important as belief when it comes to being saved and accepting God's forgiveness. They must repent of that lifestyle in order to be saved.
We all struggle with sin yes, even after being saved, but to continually partake in a sin while proclaiming it to not actually be a sin is a clear sign of an unrepentant attitude and means that that person is not truly saved. The way to salvation in Christian faith is not simply "believe", it is "repent and believe". God bless and I pray for increased clarity on this topic within the church. We must examine everything with a Biblical worldview, instead of approaching The Bible with a worldly point of view.

Wonderful to hear your guest speaker’s heart commitment to the truth of God and His Word. POWERFUL! Also wonderful to hear him give glory to God for graciously and sovereignly pursuing him while he was yet blind. This should give hope to all because God is able to and willing to save. His testimony clearly speaks of God’s sovereign choosing to open his blind eyes and turn to Christ from his sin.
    Luke 9:23-25
“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?”
The power of the Holy Spirit to convict us of sin transformed this man’s life. This is the gospel. No change of mind, no changed life, no salvation. Salvation results in a changed life like your guest. What a powerful testimony.
Though denying oneself (repentance) is possible only by the power of the Holy Spirit working in us, the change of heart and mind is also the enablement wrought by the Holy Spirit and makes us hate what we once were, unrepentant sinners.
    Ezekiel 36:31
“You will remember your evil ways, and your deeds that were not good, and you will loathe yourselves for your iniquities and your abominations.”
    John 12:25
“Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.”
    Luke 14:26
“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.”

I may be a bit naive here in what I am saying in this whole issue, but here goes. As humans we are taught that sex is fun - which isn't a lie. But look around the whole creation of God. The act of sex is first and foremost for procreation. Birds, animals, etc. have a form of sex behaviour for procreation. Same with humans and that is why God planned it male/female and only within marriage because babies do happen. This is not emphasized at all. Having said that I know the whole gay, etc., issue goes deeper and I really really appreciated Christopher's presentation. As a teacher once said "Focus, students, focus" and that is what we, as Christians, need to do - focus on the issue not being about the sex act but who we are before God. I'll have to re-listen to this a few times to be able to grasp it. Thank you.

For those of yall saying judge not, John 7 is taken out of context. It is saying if you are living in sin, you should not point out others living in sin. This hypocrisy is pointsd to that you should pull the log out of your own eye to help your brother. In John 7, we see we are to judge righteously.. in 1 Corinthians 2:15 it reaffirms that a spiritual person should judge, but be blameless or unable to be judged. Basically that they not be a hypocrite. This idea is reaffirmed in romans 2:1-3.. galatians 6:1 points to how people who are spiritual should respond to those who are in sin...
Galatians 6:1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.
Romans: Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. Do you suppose, O man-you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself-that you will escape the judgment of God?
1 COr: The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one.
If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?
24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
    John 7
Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

I think a key question with all sin is “What do you yearn for?” If the answer is not biblical and/or centered on Christ then it really needs to be evaluated as a grounding principal of your life. We all desire things in this world, but we are not driven by them. If you are driven by a desire that is contrary to the Word, why would you place your identity in that?

  • @melissazabower339

I appreciate what Christopher said: the opposite of homosexuality is not heterosexuality; the opposite is holiness. As a young woman, I struggled with heterosexual sin and I assumed getting married would solve the problem. Over the past 15 years God has shown me the answer is not marriage -- it's more of Him. I don't consider myself celibate; I'm a woman who loves God. Full stop.
I do think that churches -- conservative churches who follow and teach the Word of God -- sometimes makes a mistake in how we treat people with same sex attraction. We call out their sin because it's one we can see and point to and say "that's not my sin". That is sin. No question. But so is gossip, anger, gluttony in terms of overspending or accruing money because we don't trust God to provide. And any number of sins we don't confront each other on. I believe that's something we need to work on as a Church.
    Thank you for this conversation!

      Melissa,
I agree with you that we need to get back to Biblical discipline in the churches and helping to keep each other accountable.
We have compromised our lives to the point that churches are basically sin management centers instead of congregations of Christ-following set apart people who love God and each other and care enough about the lost to share the gospel with them.

Yes. Part of the problem is that we don't allow ourselves to be in true community. We don't correct each other because we don't feel it's our place; and it's not my place because you haven't given me permission, as some put it. It requires us to be vulnerable with each other.

I really enjoy how he articulates these thoughts. Laurie Krieg does a good job call all to holiness and what biblical marriage actually is. Part of the issue we have is something Laurie said “we put a ring on it and call it marriage and it’s really legalize sin” or something like that in her book. That was like ice water in my face. Highly Hilary suggest “impossible marriage” by Laurie. There is a strong unbiblical view of marriage in the church, and idol hiding in plain sight.

This is because, while gay people can have substance use problems, this does not mean that all homosexuals are drug addicts. For some reason, this is important to me, to make that distinction, because most gay people, I've interaction with, are just "normal" people, with no crazy lifestyle.

I completely agree w/what he said about speaking Truth. It doesn't matter who speaks it, bc who speaks it doesn't add to, or take away from what it, or should I say WHO Truth is (btw, science isn't the truth, but it is PART of the Truth & as such will always be in agreement w/the Truth)! This has been historically recognized from the beginning, even outwardly among those who didn't necessarily understand, or accept it, but outwardly acknowledged what history bore out to be reliable guide for human flourishing in a civil society. Those who denied the existence of truth, or attempted to negate it via their, or someone else's "authority", whether that authority came from culture, power, or academia was rightly identified as being a logical fallacy (fallacy, meaning lie) known as Argumentum ad Verecundiam, or "Argument from authority", which leads us back to..it doesn't matter who says it, what matters is whether or not what one is talking about, basing a law on, using to ascertain guilt, or innocence, going to court over, standing for, advocating for, following, seeking, marching for, LIVING FOR, even dying for is the Truth.

All these labels are man-made and not of God: 'straight', 'gay', 'bisexual', 'trans', etc. All 'holy sex' is 'heterosexual', but not all 'heterosexuality' is holy. Once again, 'heterosexuality' and 'homosexuality' are man-made labels, and not of God. What are we all? Sinners who need to be saved! Both the action and thought involved in sexual immorality are sins. Both can be forgiven. The Lord knows your heart. If you confess sincerely that you are a sinner who needs to be saved, and surrender all to The Lord, He will never give up on you, though we will likely all continue to 'fall short' by our own works. Surrender all; not just your actions, but your minds, too; though, as long as we are in this life, we are likely still to fall short concerning both. That's why we need a Saviour, folks; all of us!

@KTTGHMTJWYCBLAC : Thank you for this criticism. You are right in that I, and many others, have not quite surrendered ALL to The Lord; and yes, there really is no good excuse for that. Many of us are still 'stuck in neutral'. However, you are not quite right in saying that I have 'swept it all under the rug'. Romans 5:8-'even yet while we were still sinners-'. Jesus does cover for us, even yet while we are still sinners; however: 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. Paul rebukes the Corinthians to the effect that they can't continue in their sins; that they got to, in effect, get unstuck from neutral and leave their sins behind altogether! Christians are supposed to rebuke each other over these things, and encourage each other to surrender even more so to The Lord. I've taken note of your rebuke, and I wish you a good and blessed Good Friday and Easter. Amen.

@@melissaarmstrong my answer is going to be delicate here. When I walked out of homosexuality, I did not instantly declare myself heterosexual. All I knew, was that I was following Jesus wherever HE led me. At some point He did reveal the truth that I had been created (with intent) to be heterosexual. Understanding this empowered me to really yield and surrender my sexuality to the work of the cross. This is imperative. I don’t think he danced around it, I mean he did point to the reality of God bringing him a wife if He chose. I hear some say that the opposite of homosexuality is not heterosexuality but rather holiness. I disagree in part. Yes we are to be holy, and homosexuality is not compatible with holiness, for it is unclean. When one truly comes into agreement with God about His created intent and the truth of His word, we absolutely cannot dismiss that He created man for woman and woman for man. Genesis 2:21-24. And with that understanding, what conclusion can anyone come away with but that account of Adam and Eve that they were created and intended for each other by God. So, walking out of homosexuality does mean we are coming into agreement with God about how we were created to be. Now, that being said, I can promise you that the first thought coming out of homosexuality is not “ how can I find an opposite sex spouse”. Some can’t even fathom the idea. I mean imagine you’ve devoted decades of your life immersed in a gay identity and surrounded yourself with anything and everything to support that identity. Now you’ve responded to Jesus and surrendered all. Heterosexuality will be the furthest from your mind at that point. He can and does transform the heart AND mind but that takes time.

“The opposite of homosexuality is holiness.” -Dr. Christopher Yuan.
I love how he said he does not find his identity in his sexuality but rather in Christ.

@@shirleybaskett9813 Thank you Miss Shirley, I was unaware of this. All too often we identify ourselves as this race, or that sexuality, or this denomination, or that nationality, or this ethnicity, (the list goes on) but ultimately, God only sees the Body of Christ. We are the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God in Christ Jesus. Whenever we see or say anything else, we are saying what God says is not true. God’s Word is always true.

Of course that is wrong. Even a child knows the opposite is heterosexuality. He is just advancing a vile “SSA” agenda. Ignorant.

I can’t help but think of Isaiah 55:11 “so is My Word that goes out from My mouth: it will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it”. The fact that Dr. Yuan threw his father’s Bible in the garbage and in prison Dr. Yuan found the Gideon New Testament in prison in the garbage.

YES! YOU CAN be Christian and also someone who is not physically, emotionally, and intimately attracted to the opposite sex. I am writing this to my struggling Christian brothers and sisters (and to encourage other same sex attracted persons to come to Christ) constantly beaten and flogged by other fellow Christians who think they are able to better understand the WILL of GOD than GOD Himself.
I know your pain! Jesus has pursued me for as long as I can remember - though I was not raised in a Christian home. And I wanted HIM with all my heart and soul. It was not Jesus who condemned me..shamed me…closed me out, and kept me from him, but other sinners whom he also loved and died for. Once I shut their loud voices out and asked HIM directly to work in my life…and that I wanted a relationship with HIM more than anything, is when I and my life started to truly change, though not the way that other Christians want to hear (John 14:6 “no one comes to the Father except through me”…not people who claim to be Christian and their congregations).
God did NOT take away my homosexuality, but has turned me into a new creature in Christ, to God be the glory!!
STOP listening to them. They know not what they do and say. Go to Christ himself. Don’t listen to how others read the Bible…let HIM guide you as you delve into HIS words. HE will help you to forgive and love them despite how psychologically toxic they have been to you and others. Read the Holy Bible Everyday while praying before you read that HE helps you to understand what you are reading. Come humbly and with a repentant heart and ask HIM to work in you and in your life. Seek HIS WILL for your life and not what will get you accepted by the world and not will have you accepted by other Christians. To be a Christian and saved is to confess you are a sinner…believe that Jesus is who HE professed to be, died on the cross for our sins and rose to sit at the right hand of God. HE fulfilled THE LAW…stop listening to Christian legalism. It is GOD who sanctifies. You just must surrender. If God speaks to you to be celibate - listen….if you do not hear that…keep living your life for Christ. If he removes your same sex desires WONDERFUL…if HE does not, still allow HIM to use you for HIS kingdom. HE will! Trust HIM and HIM alone. You are LOVED beyond measure. HE knows this is hard and you are hurting - but HE will not allow pain without something new to be born (Isaiah 66:9) as well as the character that is being born in you (Romans 5:3-4). Keep running the race set before You and you alone. This is between You and God...not you and everyone else. They have their own race to run.

My favourite comment of so many great ones in this video - ‘the most important thing that sets Christianity apart is that there is hope even in the midst of oppression and that we are not victims but we are in Christ victors.’ That concept is life transforming if we would just take hold of it and live it.

We don’t introduces ourselves as “lying Christians” or “stealing Christians”, so why say “gay Christians”? It’s obvious that the announced SIN is more important to them than the Savior.

Really good discussion. 2 Corinthians 10:5 and the word captive was on my mind yesterday. Make every thought captive. I love Jesus, He is so amazingly cool in His love for us. He woos us to Him. We are His Bride. Hosea 2:14. He sets the captives free. Luke 4:18. I am Captivated by Him and so happy.

wow! when Christ said "I am the way, the truth, and the life " Christ has called us to be like him. but he has told us that great and unsearchable things. He has made all that we're enjoying, and to hear in Jeremiah 33:3 and I'll will show you great and unsearchable things that are greater? And 1 john3:2 Unfortunately the world has the inclination and proclivity to desensitize us. but, praise be to our Lord that He has shown us He awesomeness!

The answer is in ROMANS Chapter 1, verses 26-32.
It'll be interesting to see what the video might say.
It kinda disgusts me that when the Bible has a clear answer that we can all look up and read, and that is clear and not worded vaguely, that we either:
    A) have to preach on it for an hour and a half to "explain" it, when it was already definite and obvious, OR--
    B) simply declare the verse as "Legalism" and be done with it. How convenient.

Amen! The problem is that we as a church in the west have not been bold enough in declaring the truth on this topic! We have let people's feelings and negative backlash distract us from teaching sound doctrine, as we feel as though we have to pacify the complainers before we can do such things, which is a total mistake!

Leonardo da Vinci Tchaikovsky (most played Christmas music) and Alan Turing who saved millions of people and saved the world from the most hateful group of people ever walked on earth (whose roots can be traced to the Spanish inquisition) were all gay - if God did not find them agreeable - he would not have blessed them with gifts that benefited the world so greatly.

57:20 Dr. Yuan says that temptation is not sin but it is rooted in our sin nature. He repeats this a few minutes later.
While I agree that temptation is not sin, I pumped the breaks at his assertion that temptation is rooted in our sin nature.
How, then, was Jesus tempted? Did He have a sin nature and was able to not give in to it? I understand Jesus' temptations came from the outside and while ours can come from the outside they can also come from the inside.
Did Adam also have a sin nature BEFORE he gave in to temptation in the garden? Clearly Adam is different than Jesus in that Adam COULD sin while Jesus couldn't.
I genuinely would appreciate Dr. Yuan's thoughts on this. I agree wholeheartedly with his encouragement to define our terms. It would be beneficial to me if you'd circle back to this statement. ❤️

Walk by the Spirit and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh.
He gives us the power over all kinds of sin, but we have to cooperate and walk with Him day by day, hour by hour.
