    This is amazing. Its been almost 3 weeks since my first delivery day for my 2023 Model Y and the car is incredibke. I love that service comes to your house which is fantastic. Thabks for sharing this. My questions are adter how many miles should i get my tires rotated?? I heard 5,000 is that true? And how many miles till i need new tires recommended? Thank you bro. Love my tesla and happy to be a tesla man for life now

      Thanks for watching and congratulations on your new Model Y! Tesla recommends tire rotation at 6250 miles. In my experience, with a Dual Motor, you can go much further without need for rotation as long as the tire wear on all four tires is even. A set of tires for my dual motor Model 3 lasts about 50,000 miles.

    In MN tire rotations by Tesla cost ~85 dollars that I just went to discount tires and they did it for free

      Thanks for watching and sharing the cost in Minnesota. I believe if you pay what we pay for a nice Tesla, that you should not short cut/cheap out on service. I'm always weary that non-Tesla service shops may not correctly lift the car or may not correctly torque the lug nuts. I'm happy to support a fantastic company like Tesla with a little more money by supporting the excellent service experience.

    Good price, I'm in Ireland and had the tyres rotated on my 3 a few months ago also by a mobile tech. It worked out at the equivalent of $60. I was quoted multiple times that from a tyre shop. I think they just didn't want to work on a Tesla.

      Whats the logic behind rotating tyres aside from having to buy 4 at once? Im in England and have never heard of anyone doing this. Surely its better to just leave them and only have to buy one maybe two at a time?

    • @briandowling8372
      @briandowling8372 10 місяців тому +1

      @@usefulrandom1855 on a RWD it ensures even wear of the set. Not really necessary on LR/Performance models.

      @briandowling8372 Thanks for watching! I agree, this is actually the first rotation I've had in my entire 67,000 mile ownership. Most times the tech says the tire wear is even and rotation is not needed.

      Thanks for watching! Logic is that you'll get a longer life out of the set of four tires. Not usually needed for an AWD/Dual Motor car though because those normally have even tire wear front to back. If you only buy two tires then there is a slight difference in tire diameter between the new and old set.

  • @bbbb6066
    @bbbb6066 10 місяців тому +2

    I get free tire rotation where I buy my tires. You could change your own air filters it did not look that hard. It did not take the service man much time to change them.

    • @TeslaFamilyChannel
      @TeslaFamilyChannel  10 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching! You are correct, I could have done this all on my own and I used to with previous vehicles, but mobile service is extremely convenient. Also, the filters take about a week to arrive if I order through Tesla but mobile service was able to get them to my house quicker.

    Should tires always be rotated front to back and vice versa on Teslas? Never across?

    • @TeslaFamilyChannel
      @TeslaFamilyChannel  10 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching! I remember the tech saying you want the most tread in the back but was unsure why that mattered if all tires were equal tread depth. The front to back pattern is likely just most practical for mobile service with only a single jack lifting one side at a time.

      If you have all wheel drive, I believe you are supposed to rotate diagonally.

    Thanks for the video.. im looking online its a bit past time for me to rotate tires.. i see some tire places do it for free, specifically discount tire big national chain - anyone ever get them done there for free ? Did it work ? For the same effort free vs 100 bucks - i like free? But dad always said nothing free lol

    19k miles is too long a time before a tire rotation. Tesla recommends 6250 miles for M3

    • @TeslaFamilyChannel
      @TeslaFamilyChannel  9 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching! Correct, however I had service inspect my tires on at least two visits during that time and rotation was not recommended due to uniform wear across all tires.

    How many miles you rotate

    • @TeslaFamilyChannel
      @TeslaFamilyChannel  10 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching! On this set 19,000 because usually dual motor has even tire wear and rotation is not required. Tesla recommends tire rotation especially with rear wheel drive every 6250.

    You couldn't change the air filters and do a tire rotation yourself? You had to give the billionaire another $124.00 of your hare earned money?

    • @TeslaFamilyChannel
      @TeslaFamilyChannel  10 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching! Why do it myself? Of course I could have wasted an hour or so of my day and did this, but Time=Money. I don't have a 2 ton jack and didn't feel like getting into a weird yoga pose to get the filters out of the car from beneath the passenger dash.

    • @russellobarski7434

      Don’t forget the mechanic has to get paid. Let’s say 25 $ per hr. 1 hr at house and 1 hr round trip back to service center or on to next appt. Actual Cost of filters 10 $ each = 20 $ for filters . So Tesla is making, 124 - (50+20). = 54$ but wait there’s more cost to Tesla model S wear and tear ( tires, registration, insurance and charge of car) It looks to me like it’s a wash for Tesla.
      What do you all think ??

      @@TeslaFamilyChannel Well I guess you must be wealthy. Which re-enforces what I've been saying. Teslas are built for the rich. Tesla fans are wealthy.
      Most people I know would gladly spend a little bit of time to save $124.00. And investing in a floor jack, especially when you have a garage is well worth it.
      Anyway, that is just my opinion. What you do is up to you.
