Yeah I used to play BF4 on this thing, it's not really as bad as people make it out to be. I've finished the entire AC series up to black flag I think on this thing. Yes, I remember 2 years ago when I had pretty much the same processor (Core i3 4130) with the same iGPU and it was terrible. After that I upgraded to a Core i5 4590 and a RX 550... I was surprised, it's like 4x the performance I get from the old rig.
I still use a 4130 with 8gb ram today as my main music production computer. I used to play elite dangerous on it until my radion 6870 failed. But its still my main computer 10 years after i built it. Only upgrades I've done are 2 SSDs. Does the job for me, quite speedy and not sluggish. Couldn't say the same for a 10 year old motherboard/ cpu combo 10 years ago!
Once upon a time, I was very interested in getting one of those cheap chY-knees X99 Mobo kits that come with a Haswell based 2011 V3 socket and a Xeon CPU with a ram kit, etc. I did some research at the time and discovered that there were a few V3 Xeons that had integrated graphics. If I remember right, the HD 4000P graphics were actually the most capable. I never bought one, so I was never able to test it out but, maybe it's something you may want to test-out. Regardless, I love this kind of content. Thank you.
I have an Acer sff with 4130 and it games pretty well actually. Even with 4GB ram. And well, it uses Batocera. Honestly, for that purpose this chip is pretty darn good, plenty of gameplay on offer even with that igpu - if you are into retro emulation, that is. These machines are dirt cheap today
20:59 you seem to be slightly cpu bottlenecked in that clip (which is to be expected from minecraft to be fair) you could seriously up the performance in that clip by changing optifine out for sodium which is an even better optimisation mod that significantly reduces cpu bottlenecking. i would highly recommend it if you are reviewing lower end devices especially. it got my laptop (thinkpad with i5 4200u + hd4400 so basically the same setup) from like 50 to over 100fps. also the performance of the igpu is affected by the vram, ive found on my laptop that you can assign more of your ram to the integrated graphics through bios settings. i dont know how much of an impact it will have on such low end, but on modern games having ~8GB+ vram is really important otherwise the gpu is significantly bottlenecked even if it is much older and slower (with integrated, having faster RAM also helps so it would be interesting to see how much the igpu is affected by RAM speed)

Its not bottlenecking its own iGPU, in some games that support multicore, the CPU handles a part of graphical processing (that sound real weird ik, helping the graphics core). I experimented that as I own an i5 7200U with its Intel HD 620, in FSX (which uses 1 full core and 2 threads) the CPU is always over 80% and the iGPU is hovering around 40-65%. Imagine having the CPU at 30% and the integrated chip burning itself at full usage, pulling down the performance by a bit (sometimes, depends on the game engine). Also my experiment: I disabled 1 core and 3t on my CPU, and ran FSX, the iGPU reached "its fully potential", but guess, the framerate was lower, compared to original situation stated above - 30 to 60 fps with the "bottlenecking" vs. 15-40 with the fully used graphical core. So, as an conclusion, the PC tries to make a balance, using the CPU and iGPU on board, equally, avoiding maximum usage of one of them (that may introduce stutters and imense fps spikes during the session). There is a difference in the 1 and 0.1% lows. Tho..., it can happen that there is no difference in those 2 cases, even if its balanced or one of the compontents its maxed out, as I said: depends on the game. *Note: dont compare this situation with dedicated GPU's, as those work on separate lanes, if u get 50% GPU usage and fully CPU power, its clearly a bottleneck as the processor cant keep up with the graphics card, resulting in loss of performance (too low core/threads number, low frequency, cache, single vs multicore score) I tried to make things clearer. Dont panic when u see a situation like that, as long as the PC gives u decent fps for its specs, u shouldnt worry about the balance of the components, but keep in mind that depends on each game individually. Rarely, the CPU can push back its iGPU, in new, demanding, games (ex.
