Funny you just said that about the oil. I just finished referbing my first 2001 GTX DI and literally after the engine back in. I fill the oil and next day lots of oil in the bilge because I put it above that line. Replaced the oil tank but lesson learned. Later.

@@SeadooRefurb no its not. Only throws the code as I get on the throttle 3-4500rpm trying to slowly get on plane. If I go wot and get on plane quickly then it is trouble free from approx 5100rpm to wot.
@@gearwrench1davis392 Yes...I had the exact same symptoms. As soon as I changed out the sensor all was good again. It was all good till about 3500-4000 rpm . Then on came the maintenance light. ua-cam.com/video/FMiGOgYtQZo/v-deo.html at 12:40 is is where I had the knock sensor issue. (this one had lots of issues)
Great repair video, the only thing I would add to get the bad wear ring out; put the pump in the freezer for 30 minutes and the wear ring will slip right out.
I had that thought too ! I will try that next time. I was guessing that by putting the pump and the wear ring in the freezer that both parts would contract in the cold defeating the purpose.
Your videos have been very helpful. I have 2 gtx di’s. Quick question, just rebuilt my 2002 and took it out on the water where it cut out in me after riding 5 mins down the river. Had to nurse it back. At first start, I thought I saw a little smoke in engine bay, then nothing. Could an exhaust leak cause a shut off stall with no warning lights at 40 mph?
lol, I bought a 1999 Seadoo GTI and the seller told me it worked great last year. The thing was so neglected. Bad rotary valve cover, water coming in, cracked cylinder cover, the whole fuel system was crap, air valve vents bad, axle bad, wear ring bad, all engine mounts bad... The list went on.... She's almost sea worthy, I just have to change the stator and regulator, which are bad, and I'll put her in the water.
I try to explain that to people who come by to buy a machine. I tell them that I have gone through every thing but they say they can get a better deal elsewhere. Then they contact me on how to fix their issues. :)
@@SeadooRefurb gotcha. Any idea what I should start with when it comes to the top speed? The wear ring looked to be fine. I couldn’t slide a credit card between the impeller and the ring itself. The impeller has a ding or two on it but nothing crazy.
I typed a long comment but it seems like UA-cam deleted it.... If you're not getting 55 mph (I couldn't hear what your top speed was), your opas paddles may not be lifting out of the water like they're supposed to at top speed. Here is a video of how to prop them up. My machine gained 5 mph by doing this since the paddles drag if they do not lift. I cut a slot in a 2 inch piece of PVC to prop them up: ua-cam.com/video/hzjWwxo_0yE/v-deo.html
I still suspect that there is more to come on that gtx.. It has an engine vibration that I really am not liking. ( possibly counter balance) That only gave me 51 mph. Thanks for the heads up video. :)

Knock sensor fault. I have had 1 bad one before. Is the engine running rough ?

if exhaust smoke then no but if electrical smoke then yes.

What is the max rpm my Gtx di should be going to? I’m at 6950 and only going 45mph
6950 is perfect. That is the max
