- Paddle shifters give the driver greater control over which transmission gear is in use, enhancing driving precision and fun. Here’s how they work.

Most people don’t know how to use the paddles, and will complain that the car is not letting them “bang the limiter.” That’s to prevent damage to the drive train.
meh its not a real manual feature then.. you should be able to have the engine right at redline and not cause damage. My 2007 honda accord manual has been at redline most of its life and its got 238k miles on it lol
Excellent video explaining paddle shifters.
So much fun down shifting a TLX in Sport engine mode and “S” transmission mode with the paddles
I bought a new Honda HRV hybrid and I still don't understand how paddle shift works on the B or D. Can you make a video on the topic?
B is like engine braking and the paddleshifters work as intended like the stick - to downshift and + to shift up. You might already know what i am talking about
kids think i'm so rad when i paddle down and hit the throttle in the Odyessy.
Do I let go of the gas between shifting? Or not necessary for CVT
Not necessary as there is no clutch pedal
How to activate pedal shifters in Honda elevete??
No meaning of paddle shifters in CVT cars though they are available.
I use Honda city CVT.
I tried to us paddle shifters. I observed that feature is redundant in CVT car. Because at Low or high any speed CVT system immediately adjust the speed, power and torque as there is no multiple gear shift mechanism.
It’s not redundant because you choose the gears. Cvt does not do this, it goes between them, it does not over perform and decelerate like you can do with paddles.
CVT transmission has gears?
My Honda Odyssey has a 10 speed automatic transmission.
it’s technically programmed set gear ratios like a normal automatic
@@bluto3426as in if you accidentally have it in sport, it still acts as an automatic?
For my city, in S will behave like manual, need to shift for every gears
@Mahabrando Yea, the CVT will act like a auto in sport mode, especially in Sport mode. Its also more snappy when moving
The 2024 Honda accord hybrid doesn’t have a transmission.
It has a cvt
I own Accord hybrid 2019 EXL almost 6 years now, but really don’t know how to use that shift things, and never touch shift paddle yet.
I kind confused and I don’t want mess up my car engine.
LOL

i have a 2017 Honda BRV Indian Model i never use the paddle shifters i only used it once in the Nice road expressway in Banglore
The complaint is because there is no tachometer on the dashboard, so what the hell is paddle shifting a thing?
0:38 what does "temporary" means? I mean, how long? Or until what condition until it automatically doing the upshift?
Probably to prevent it from breaking, like if your upreving too much on a lower gear then it will do it automatically
From my experience it turns off once you hit the gas again, except for D1.
From my experience driving a Civic, the manual mode engages quite a while during downhill (when shifting down for engine braking). but it just set to automatic mode if there is nothing special happening 😅
Thank you. Perfect for navigating nyc traffic!
Is there any gear in cvt engine?
No but technically yea
No gears in CVT

Paddle shifters for a cvt 😂
How do you get S transmission mode? I daily a 2.0t accord and it only says Dm#, which is drive/manual/ what gear I’m in.
Does your vehicle have a sport mode/option? If so, select that and let the fun begin.
i sometime accidentally push one of these paddle shifters when I make a turn.. then i get confuse how to get back to normal driving mode. its an odd place to put these paddle shifters on a steering wheel.
They're there so that a driver can shift gears without having to take their hands off the wheel
It's a safety thing. Hands stay on the wheels. Just like the heads up display keeps eyes on the road. Now that I'm a dad, I love this car. It's definitely designed w safety in mind.
Odd? It's in a perfect place lol
You must not know about sport cars lmao
@@hypr1 yea right when you are making a turn try to guess which shifter is where.
one question: in sport mode, once I engaged the manual shifting, how do I revert back to automatic?
Put it back in drive
Just buy the LX trim
Can you PLEASE start from the VERY beginning? Does the driver have to first put the regular transmission in the usual "drive" position first? If you could demonstrate this from the stopped and "engine off" point, your viewers would understand better. You can't just begin this demonstration from the perspective of what the paddle shifters are used for and think that everyone will automatically understand. We're all not technicians. You need to understand your audience if you want to help them.
just watch the video
Ah, I did. I can read, listen and I graduated college.
They need to start from an "engine off" position. Position and context matter.
If you can't extract the necessary information from a video and deduct your reasoning to a single most logical answer, maybe opt for a car without paddle shifters 😅
if you're in "drive" you really dont need to use the paddle shifters, anyways if you're on "S" you need to use them there
@@coldmagoWell I have a lot of questions too that weren’t answered here. Just want to make sure I don’t damage the transmission. I’m used to driving a manual transmission and this is all new to me.
❤❤❤❤
My local Honda dealer told me to drive my 2018 civic auto on motorway for half an hour (lower gear-high revs) been doing this but when I go above 45 the S3 changes to S4 and you can’t do that in normal D mode, could someone please help, it’s something to do with DPf!
Is 'S' mode same as putting transmission in 'Sand'?
sport mode maybe?
@@nolanwinegarner2718 yes, I'm not sure if s in d/s same as sport mode in drive.
Why does this car even have them?? It doesnt even have a real transmission
Because it gives you control of gear?
how to turn it off? not so good
