I'm Japanese and I'm 21 years old, but I often listen to scorpions. And I learned about the existence of this album for the first time. It seems that the reputation is not very good, but I wanted to see the colorful and unexpected side of scorpions, so I bought it now! Whether it's rock or pop, it's the best!
Still remember how my friends and I came across this video unexpectedly at the beginning of 2011, when we just started to listen to Scorpions - and we were like WHAAAAAAT IS THIS? xDDD

I get why a lot of Scorpions fans don't like this. It's totally different from what they did in the 70s and 80s, but I still think that this song (and the video) is a lot of fun. It isn't meant to be taken too serious.
PS. As a lot of people in the comments are thinking, that this is a new song. It is not. It is the first single from their 1999s album "Eye II Eye".

@@pedrocardoso5106 It's a matter of tastes. Of course I also prefer their 70s and 80s albums, but I don't hate Eye II Eye. It has some good songs, even if they are completely different.
For some reason, my top scorpions albums are the less popular " savage amusement, pure instinct, and of course, eye to eye" 🤟🤟🤟🤟
Eye To Eye was a great album, even when all fans agree that is not their best one, we were glad to know another face of Scorpions🦂

I don't know if I would consider it a great album, but I has some great songs for sure. The title track and A Moment In A Million Years are really touching songs.
Obsession and Yellow Butterfly are songs that I love from this album.

Finally! I hope they’ve started embracing their 90s period for what it is: A turbulent, experimental time. This was the time when electronic music took over in Europe, the Scorps’ dream market: USA, had alt rock and pop and grunge coming up. I’m sure even they didn’t know what to do next.
Eye II Eye would have turned out well had they chosen a better producer who could translate their vision into the right sonic output. Instead the drum samples, turned down guitars and different sound made the Scorps sound like imitations of the younger generation. They could have somehow embraced the new sound while keeping their DNA alive.
I’ve always thought that getting in James Kottak was a mistake. They had up until this point stuck to their German roots and so had a very cohesive unit. Getting in Kottak and his American sensibilities changed the way they functioned, wrote lyrics as well as arranged their songs. Herman Rarebell had a less is more drum approach. His lyrics were euphemistic and with the loss of him and Franz Buccholz, that German powerhouse rhythm sound went away.
It’s nice to think about this period in retrospect. The Scorpions’ best years were sandwiched between the experimental rock sound of their 70s albums and then another experimental period in the 90s before they finally found their voice again. They’ve finally gone back to their formulaic writing from the 80s. I don’t think we’ll get to listen to anything groundbreaking from them again. It is going to be more of the same template from their best years and maybe that will trigger some nostalgia from us.
I keep hoping that they will write something new that isn’t reminiscent of their 80s period. Keep that sound, but update your lyrics and style. All that being said…. Go Scorpions! Can’t wait for a new album….
Some bands get tired of the formulaic songs and you want to try something different even if it's bad. I feel like some bands and artists would turn into a puppet or trying to please people all the time if they made the same album over and over again or if they made every album sound like blackout or love at first thing like some corporate formula.
Eye to eye is one of my favorite albums from the scorpions because it doesn't sound like typical scorpions. It's unpredictable

I would love that! It is actually not a bad album in my mind. It just doesn't sound like the old Scorpions stuff. It has some great songs. Mysterious, 10 Light Years Away, Du bist so schmutzig, ... I love these songs even though I became a fan because of albums like Blackout and Love At First Sting.

I bought this album back in 1999, and I still think that while it may feel lighter than their usual stuff, Eye to Eye is quite good. I have massive respect for musicians who experiment with their sound: we all change with time, why wouldn't they? Anyway, thanks for the songs and the memories, love from Russia

I mean, they seem to be kinda shying away from the album, because it's not your typical hard rock you'd expect from them bla bla. But to be honest, the album is packed full with great songs, great melodies and stellar performance of every band member! I love the album, I'd very much love to see some songs played lived from time to time
Hot take but my favorite Scorpions song. They fell for that late 90’s early 00’s pop rock sound that was trendy back then and for good reason. The music was always catchy and fun.

Eye to Eye Album. This is the time when Alternative and grunge are in the mainstream. However, other 80s hard rock and metal bands are still there like the Scorpions, Bon Jovi, and Def Leppard adopting the music trend in the mid 90s to early 2000s. Glad that today music genre seems to evolve and all rock genre are accepted with no discrimination.
