8 Medium to large russet potatoes (4.5 lbs)
32 Oz chicken broth + water as needed
6 Tbsp unsalted butter (divided - I used 2 TBSP for every step that mentioned butter)
3 Garlic cloves
3/4 - 1 1/4 Cup of heavy whipping cream (divided, add a 1/2 cup to the sautéed garlic, use remaining as needed for creamy potatoes)
1 1/2 - 2 Tsp chicken bouillon powder
Garlic salt (to taste, or use regular salt)
Parsley (garnish)

I am Irish and we use a lot more butter, until smooth and creamy, then a drop of cream. Every family does it different, I try to add flavor to them, but you would think I committed a mortal sin in my family's eyes 😂
For a great leftovers, bubble and squeak is so good. You need a cast iron skillet, cabbage, mashed potatoes and a meat (ham, bacon, corn beef). Most important part, is once you start cooking it, Don't touch it.
My mum used to use what was left from a roast dinner to make bubble An squeak mmm I missed my mums cooking xx
Is sounds similar to colcannon? I’m French Canadian and we use more butter and cream as well. I went to catholic convent school growing up and we had bubble and squeak but I don’t think it had cabbage in it… I love seeing how ppl from all over one country make something compared to ppl from another country. One thing ppl all over the world have in common… the love of a good meal!
@@nicolagriffiths9974 we called that hash. Left over roast that was cooked with potatoes and carrots… all of that sliced and fried in a pan with butter and a sliced or diced onion!

Yes you are correct! But I wanted the potatoes to have a certain look for my thumbnail and I certainly nailed it! When I'm not filming my food most times I'll leave the skin on.

I like your style. I've had mashed cooked in broth, everyone loved them at the dinner except me. Too salty & all I could taste was the broth but there was no garlic, that would have made huge difference imo.🥰🕊

Yes
All the flavor, vitamins and minerals of the potatoes were left behind in that boiling salt water, through the process of osmosis. . So you need a ton of butter and creme to give it some flavor. NEVER boil a potato in water, unless it is whole with its skin on, if you like to keep the flavor and goodness of it intact.

@SkylerBouchard Mashed potatoes are a staple side at everyday meals. We make dishes that are special for Thanksgiving. We do not do such a common, easy and boring dish like mashed potatoes that are served routinely with basic dinners during a regular week. KFC serves mashed potatoes 24/7.
