    Bick4 is fantastic stuff. I use it on saddles and tac for horses. Horse sweat, the salts, do not help leather. That all must be cleaned up with the saddle soap. Good video.

    FYI I didn’t have show trees when I got my first pair of boots so I used packaging paper and kitchen paper towels to act as shoe trees while I cleaned and conditioned them.

    Regarding Bick4 for roughouts, I have used it for Red Wing's Olive mohave with no issues whatsoever. After 20-30 mins color went back to normal and the texture didn't change. Great stuff.

    I have been watching this a lot, just to make sure I memorize the steps. I, like you, have a crazy horse boot in black (Motorcycle Boots) and was wondering if I could shine it after these or not? I was advised by the internet not to, but it is black.

    • @WyattDadCobblerCompany
      @WyattDadCobblerCompany  14 днів тому +1

      @@sockthief9138 Crazy horse is a very oily leather. A lot of pull up. Leathers like this typically don’t hold a traditional shine well anywhere the leather bends so you would be limited to only shining the very tip of the toe and back of the heel if you want it to hold.
      If you’re looking just to get a nice shimmer back into the leather, a good amount of time with a horsehair brush after conditioning often does wonders.

      @@WyattDadCobblerCompany would black crazy horse boots still show noticeable patinas? And, aside from these steps, just brush em everyday and after every use, right? And I have beeswax based conditioner here, should I opt for bick 4 or mink oil instead?

    Thanks for keeping it simple. I must admit that I feel compelled to "rinse" the boot after the suds. Am I wasting my time?

    • @WyattDadCobblerCompany
      @WyattDadCobblerCompany  2 роки тому +1

      It’s better to wipe the suds off. The extra water will dilute the cleaner solution. That alters the ph balance of the solution and leather. You can kind of rinse the suds off with the solution without scrubbing. That way you don’t get more suds and you know the dirt rinsed away.

      I wouldn't put Sno Seal on a boot upper, unless it's a hard use boot. It will change the boot color and leave a residue behind.

    BICKMORE Contains Silicone. What's your option on that. Check California spec sheet.

    • @WyattDadCobblerCompany
      @WyattDadCobblerCompany  2 роки тому +1

      I’m not a fan of silicone. However, it’s a small amount in comparison to other ingredients in the formula. Also, it’s still one of the best products available on the market that we have found to date. We used Lexol conditioner for a long time, until they sold out to a bigger company and changed their formula. If you have a better option, you have our attention.

    • @tinytim11b
      @tinytim11b Рік тому +1

      @@petersilecchio4417 Just did some reading and I found it! It was .02% in an older formulation. It's is now .01%. It's only included as a light lubricant. Here is the source, from Reddit:
      "This comes up every so often on the subreddit and in private discussions. The silicone content in Bick4 was 0.02% in an older formulation. It's not confirmed what the content of it is now but a private label company that has done AMAs here said that their conditioner which was at the time formulated the same as Bick4 also had 0.02% silicone content for use as a lubricant. I think they mentioned to me that their silicone content went down to 0.01% in more recent formulations.
      It's an insignificant amount that doesn't by any means "leave an impermeable layer" on top of your leather even if you tried which is usually the argument against it.
      The worst damage I've seen from conditioners and product comes from the inexperience of users applying too much of one or more than one product trying to condition or undo something they've applied. The simplicity of Bick4 helps solve that by making it almost impossible to over apply and fuck up."
