These type of parents just cannot accept the fact that their child like this sort of stuff.......... What’s so wrong about it when your child likes it? Edit: Some parents believe it’s wrong being part of this group and that, but they are overreacting about it. In addition, I mostly believe the reason why parents dislike the groups their in is embarrassing and they don’t want to have a title for themselves of having child like that. It’s just my opinion.

When my mom found out I was a furry (my dad already knew) she said "I will always support you as long as you don't hurt anyone or yourself." I now live a really good life and I even got to show my fursuit to people and even got some people to make their own fursonas.

To be honest you don't have to tell your parents, everyone thinks you have to tell your parents eventually. If you want to tell your parents do it, if you are afraid to or really don't want to tell them just don't. But if you do, tell them what it's about. Do not tell them the bad things just tell them the good things about the fandom.

My Mother loves Furries! When we went to Comic con London ( On October 2018 Saturday) I saw ( and met ) a bunch of fursuiters! Even before that, I showed my Mum a video of a fursuit rolling in snow and she loved it! She said she wants one, and so I made her a fursona.
In germany, there arent much rich people and not much people can speak english. Means nearly no one knows what furries are. I will never meet a furry, where i know he/she is one. Also i never saw a Fursuit (except in Videos). xd
At the pride parade this year I found a girl who looked to be about 16-18 and she was a furry She didn’t wear a full fursuit though, only the head, tail, and paws Her fursona was a pink and white fox I got to hug her and we talked I told her I was also a furry but I didn’t have my fursuit yet I’m getting one for Christmas and I’m going to bring it to the pride parade next June I hope to see her again! And the Moms brought up a great thing as well, that the fandom offers a big support group for someone who might feel alone, bullied or outcast. 💛
I told my mom that I’m a furry and she was like “oh, that’s cool.” I told her that I like art of colourful anthropomorphic animals and even costumes of them.

XD literally I told my mom I was in the fandom and a few days after that she asked me what I actually was, because I think she heard the sexual side or not and I explained that there is this part of the fandom nice and cute and then explain that there is a slight sexual side and I told her that I’m in the nice and cute side not the sexual to make sure she understands. I also told her the bad side that is where I may of said the sexual thing. She told one of her friends and they were like, “COOL DOES HE HAVE A FURSONA” and yea my mom accepts it and I’m happy 😃

I remember watching this video back when I went to TFF my mom didmt realize all the dark stuff the fandom had in it so she took me to the nearest convention, when I was at the convention she saw a ton of NSFW art and then my mom threw out all my art and the TAIL I bought from the convention, she thought of furries as "people who are bad and deserve to go to hell" cause she only focused on the bad part of the fandom after seeing the NSFW art at the convention after then I watched this video, and was crying and tweeted it all on twitter, I even tried reaching out to furry youtubers but got no replies hoping that they would try helping me, so then on I was off and on about it constantly drawing furries and what not, then I did some bad stuff, buying tails which then my mom found out and found them, throwing them away now I'm just out of it again but still clinging on to it a tiny bit, I dont know my future of being in this fandom, and what I'll do when I'm older but I am currently a 14 year old boy who is interested in the furry fandom

Nope....my mom misunderstands alot of things. This is one of them. I showed her and she just went thinking that I'm gay. To which I'm not and don't have any problems with gay ppl. I've seen some friends on discord do some weird things in group chats that is kinda nsfw even though they act kid friendly everywhere else so remember, even if you feel really comfortable with furries (I do) Remember to stay safe from potential chances for people to act different outside of public areas or servers

i think that the furry hobby will become more accepted as time goes on. i mean, many hobbies, such as art and video games, used to be “abnormal” (while probably not as much, but you get what i mean), and society has statistically become more accepting

I'm a relatively younger furry ( 13 ), and I remember showing my mom videos of Telephone and such. She thought it was all pretty interesting, actually. Then I finally got my fursuit, and she kinda fell in love with the concept of anthropomorphism and such. Not all parents are disapproving of the fandom, you just need to show them the good aspects before really telling them you're a furry. That's how it worked for me, at least.

The only person in my family I know is against it is my cousin, my aunt and my parents actually love it and the fact that I'm in it. My father saw a picture of me with some fursuiters and at that time it was the first time he's heard of them but the only thing mistake he made with them is the name, he called them "fuzzies" of all things.

My father knows Im a furry, and watches videos of furries a couple times and see no problem with me being a furry. My mother doesnt know Im a furry and Im afraid she will react somewhat negative to me being a furry because shes religious. She judges me for going to Anime Conventions, but tbh I think shes worried I get hurt, but when I told her there is a lot of security present at the hotel she relaxed and continued to let me go to the convention. My mom found out I was a furry from invading literally ALL of my privacy. Looking through my social media, asking others about what I tell them, and even looked through my diaries. She thinks of my furry obsession as a wormhole into my depression. And with her thought of it, she took away anything I could use to get to social media. She started putting me on anti depressants and put me in counselling, hoping that I would get rid of who I am. To become something I'm not. Of course, the furry fandom isn't the only reason I'm in these situations, but its still a big part of why I've been beat down. At school people either support me as a furry or make funny jokes about it. Not to laugh at me but for me to laugh with them. My own grandmother supports my hobby, helping me research about fursuit making/buying commissioned fursuits. My mom recently found out that I was telling my boyfriend (who is also a furry) about how she emotionally abusive. She later then tried getting into my boyfriend's head, telling him that my furry obsession is a way to spiral down into a deep, suicidal depression and to never speak about it again around me. For me, there is no other way to be myself unless I wait until I'm legally an adult (18) and move out. In the meantime, I have to pretend to be something I never will be and smile about it. I remember watching this video back when I went to TFF my mom didmt realize all the dark stuff the fandom had in it so she took me to the nearest convention, when I was at the convention she saw a ton of NSFW art and then my mom threw out all my art and the TAIL I bought from the convention, she thought of furries as "people who are bad and deserve to go to hell" cause she only focused on the bad part of the fandom after seeing the NSFW art at the convention after then I watched this video, and was crying and tweeted it all on twitter, I even tried reaching out to furry youtubers but got no replies hoping that they would try helping me, so then on I was off and on about it constantly drawing furries and what not, then I did some bad stuff, buying tails which then my mom found out and found them, throwing them away now I'm just out of it again but still clinging on to it a tiny bit, I dont know my future of being in this fandom, and what I'll do when I'm older but I am currently a 14 year old boy who is interested in the furry fandom

I'm a relatively younger furry ( 13 ), and I remember showing my mom videos of Telephone and such. She thought it was all pretty interesting, actually. Then I finally got my fursuit, and she kinda fell in love with the concept of anthropomorphism and such. Not all parents are disapproving of the fandom, you just need to show them the good aspects before really telling them you're a furry. That's how it worked for me, at least.

The only person in my family I know is against it is my cousin, my aunt and my parents actually love it and the fact that I'm in it. My father saw a picture of me with some fursuiters and at that time it was the first time he's heard of them but the only thing mistake he made with them is the name, he called them "fuzzies" of all things.

I was talking about furries to my dad once and he referred to them as a ‘problematic sub genre’ and I didn’t know what he meant by that until last night the topic of furries came up and my brother said the he might be a furry. My mom freaked out saying it was ‘inappropriate for kids’ and how we should never use that word or call ourselves furries.
I was so confused and my mom pulled me into another room and said “do you really not know what a furry is?” I told her that a furry is a person who expresses an interest in anthropomorphic animals, and who often have fursonas and sometimes have fursuits reflecting their fursonas. My mom shook her head and told me that furries are people who dress up as animals just for sex.

She thinks of my furry obsession as a wormhole into my depression. And with her thought of it, she took away anything I could use to get to social media. She started putting me on anti depressants and put me in counselling, hoping that I would get rid of who I am. To become something I'm not. Of course, the furry fandom isn't the only reason I'm in these situations, but its still a big part of why I've been beat down. At school people either support me as a furry or make funny jokes about it. Not to laugh at me but for me to laugh with them. My own grandmother supports my hobby, helping me research about fursuit making/buying commissioned fursuits.
My mom recently found out that I was telling my boyfriend (who is also a furry) about how she emotionally abusive. She later then tried getting into my boyfriend's head, telling him that my furry obsession is a way to spiral down into a deep, suicidal depression and to never speak about it again around me.
For me, there is no other way to be myself unless I wait until I'm legally an adult (18) and move out. In the meantime, I have to pretend to be something I never will be and smile about it.

My brother and I literally went out in front of all my family and we were like "hey we're furries and he's gay and I'm asexual". That was it and everyone was like ok.
Sure some don't really understand it but they haven't said anything mean, just some jokes and we don't mind it cause they're just jokes.
I told my mom about Furries and how I am one. She still accepts me and pretty much understands it :)
Plus I just found out a couple of months ago that my cousin is in the Fandom as well, and she makes suits!
My mom used to work as a bartender, and there was this guy always on his phone, and you would learn very quickly not to look over his shoulder. He was always looking at furry porn (yiffs). When my mom found out I was a furry, she was extremely uncomfortable and hated it. Now, she is still uncomfortable about it, but a little more accepting.
"Katholicitic schools are bad" -I've been there, still have nightmares.
Luckily I have friends now lol?
My sister became a furry a long time ago, so my mom already knows what furries are. When I told my mom that I was a furry, I thought she knew that not all furries are bad. She started talking about how she felt like a failure of a parent, because my sister's a furry too and somehow that's a bad thing. Now, my mom won't let me be a furry, I can't draw furries, and she threw away the fursuit head that took me two weeks to make. ;-;

I think my mom was too busy being excited that I actually wanted to go out and be social to be disgusted with me.
