Battletech - More Painted Mechs, Terrain & a Dropship

- I finish off my Ghost Bears and Star Adder Clans and add to my Inner Sphere with some Federated Suns in camo. I also show off a pretty neat if expensive dropship and some soon to be painted terrain.
the dropship is a re-creation of a dropship put out in 2000s. the original had gun turrets and each cargo pod was large enough to hold 4 standard size battlemech miniatures. the pods were not removable though. at the time, it retailed at $100. I still have mine, but the pod door hinges broke easily. it also came with deployed landing gear. not sure if that's an option for the STL version you have. while $60-$70 is a bit pricey, it's still a good value. I would like a union dropship at this same scale. I imagine it would be about the size of a basketball.
thx for the info, there are no landing gear options I can see and I think $60 is just about acceptable at the top end if it also had the cargo options included. I have seen union ships but not that large, I might have a go at designing/printing my own
Similar to the Aurora Class Dropship released when WizKids was making Mechwarrior clix. Owner of a game store stole and sold mine.

Not Ghost Bear. Clearly an Inner Sphere design since it's build to house a lance and not a star. Color doesn't matter so much since it's quite common for an army to have different colors between its ground and fleet elements.
The orange and yellow says Fire Mandrill more than Star Adder to my eye, but I really like them! Nice stuff. I picked up the DropShip files on discount from Steelwarrior Studios but I haven't printed it yet. Looking forward to seeing how yours turns out painted.
I just used the colour compendium for the scheme on the Star Adders but yes most work well for other factions too ) Good job on the discount, certainly takes the sting away haha
You could do generic colour for the main dropship hull, and make more pods and have them painted for each faction so you dont need a different drop ship for each depending on what you want to play with that day ( also RC drone it lol )
Good idea man! I think my printer needs tweaking as its got worse but if I can get it dialled in again I might print another one as they are cool beans and need to get my moneys worth haha
The Dropship is cool. I wouldn't mind the old class of dropship, Leopards,Union, Overlord but i like the Dropships in Mech Warrior On Line. They look similar to the Dropship you have. I haven't played Battletech for years, family got in the way.
I think you can buy the printed version now for a really good price

Wow the cost for the STL files is just crazy I’d be iffy about paying that much for a complete physical product

Lots of cool mechs on the bench! I kind of like the yellow and orange ones! I agree the others are more what I would expect to see but they turned out pretty neat! The STL price seem a little on the steep side considering there are so many small companies doing monthly character, terrain and extras bundles for like $15 a month so $80 for a single vehicle is a a little hard to come off of! Especially since you have to buy the materials and have all the stuff to print it.
thx Addam, yeah I suppose I'm being harsh on the Star Adders, lets see if they warm to me later ) As for the Dropship, don't get me wrong, its a work of art but at $80 all in its a bit op imo, but then again opinions are like A holes ) thx for watching man
@@Pezzapoo LoL true! It is hard to price stuff like that I am sure. I would tend to gamble on the charge less and sell more strategy than the charge more and hope you sell enough. But then again I didn't sit there for hours and hours designing it all to work right either so easy for me to say!! 😂

What did you use for the metal pins for the door hinges? I’m printing one of these!
Just some wire from diy store. Anything thick enough to keep its shape, I think it was gardening wire
