Hello from paradise! 🇬🇷☀️Deanna and I just spent 3 days traveling in Santorini, Greece - one of the world’s most beautiful islands. In this video, we document exactly how much it costs to travel here by doing normal tourist activities.

Santorini is great but there are so many more amazing islands in Greece which are not that expensive and have incredible beaches. Love from Greece ❤
Which islands do you recommend my friend?
@@ronaldvali3298 amorgos ,koufonisia,donousa, lipsoi, allonisos,kimolos ,milos,serifos,and many more
@@adonis636363 thank you so much 🙏🏼🇨🇦

@@gefitrop3496 i agree, most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen in my life
Greece isn’t just santorini , there’s other islands that are way more beautiful than Santorini and caters to a more budget friendly Travelling. I spent 2 weeks in Greece and was able to visit Athens, Naxos, santorini and Crete and spent less than $1000
How did u spend so little? Do u live in the US?
@@lucasphillips2177 pre-booking airBnBs/ ferries a couple weeks prior really helped. Tbh the rest of Greece we felt was actually very affordable, check out nomadic Matt, he has some really cool travel guides on budgeting ! And no I’m Canadian 🇨🇦
How was naxos? I am going in Sept
@@brittanyhowell5234 Naxos was my favourite island by far ! I felt it had the most authentic culture and everyone was super nice. I highly recommend the agios prokopios area and this restaurant called gianoulisis ( very cute taverna operated by this really nice family)
I’m born and raised in NY and I’m so proud my parents brought me to Greece every year as a child. I’m 40 years old and purchased a home in my fathers town of Nafpaktos and now bring my 2 boys there EVERY SUMMER. There is NO better place to be in July and August than in Greece! It’s a true paradise. There are so many places to visit and it never gets boring. You never have to fear for your life and the food is clean and natural. So many counties are NOT safe and food is NOT clean. See you in 9 months ELLADA!!!!
This a luxury vacation obviously, but Greece and especially these fancy trendy islands has become ridiculously expensive, feels like a scam. Not worth it. I am Greek btw
You're absolutely right bro

How much implement did the change to euro have in this rise of costs?
I'm Greek and I've never been to Santorini and I'm not planning it tbh 😅 there are a lot more better less expensive and beautiful islands ..but it is definitely worth it for a romantic getaway in my opinion ..much love from Greece 🇬🇷❤️
What would you suggest are good alternatives?
@@TheMatchReview definitely the islands in the Ionian sea Zakynthos Corfu Leukada..also Crete but it is huge you would want to rent a car to explore all the island..if you want Aegean sea I would say Milos and Paros..and if you want a traditional Greek island with a unique lifestyle and lots of music and dances definitely Ikaria island..there are also a lot more but I hope I helped
Wht place is that beautiful than Santorini?
I have just returned from a four days trip to Santorini, which is truly stunning but incredibly touristy. I was on a budget but i managed to see and do pretty much everything with around €400. You can still visit Santorini with a low budget. As usual great Video Drew!!
Did you take your partner? I can do budget trips unless I’m with my gf then it usually costs like 5x as much anywhere I go
Thanks for watching! I love you guys!!
I love you Drew!!!!
@Drew Binsky welcome to Greece. With all respect to you, the title of your video is not fair. You create wrong impressions to your subscribers about Greece. Yes, Santorini is a Greek island with high prices but don't forget that Santorini is one of the most famous destinations worldwide like Ibiza (Spain), Paris, London, NY etc...I don't think the prices in a good restaurant in Manhattan will be better than Santorini!
Come to Corfu
;D
As a Greek i must say that Santorini is just stunning, i think it's affordable for an American but not affordable for a Greek. There are thousands of other places in Greece with high quality service, beaches, accommodation and food but in much more affordable prices especially in northern and western Greece
Hello, Greek here. I love your channel. Santorini is one of Greece's most, if not the most, expensive island. The cheapest time of the year to visit Santorini is in winter. You will not swim (because of the cold) but will find affordable flights, rooms to rent, etc. (also, u will have a better chance to see one of the most beautiful sunsets of your life). You will find numerous places you can visit with lower prices and the same Greek philoxenia. By law, the 500ml bottle of water costs 0.5 euro in Greece max everywhere. We have some of the cleanest drinkable water in Europe (except for some places that don’t take water from the main line).
Hellas, the best country in the world.
Deanna is so lucky! ❣️ You guys are blessed to be able to go to such beautiful places. 🤩 Thanks for taking us with you! 🇬🇷 🙌🏼
I think she is pregnant though
You are welcome to visit our country anytime! 🇬🇷
Thanks for the spectacular views, as this is the only way I'll ever experience such lavishness. I was in Greece 1985-86 and enjoyed Mikonos as you did, except for the morning after. We had so many drinks I had never heard of! Hydra is my favorite island personally. Love your channel!
was just in santorini (september 15 to 19) and I absolutly loved it. Got engaged there too so it is a place I definitly wont forget 🥰
OMG! What an amazing trip you both had. Wish you many more to come.
I’ve been binge watching you everyday drew!! Watching your awesome videos while having meals is the highlight of my day! 😭
I've been to Santorini in March 2018 and it was great! Glad you visited and hope you had a great time there
You know it’s gonna be a good day when drew uploads love your vids drew keep up your great work of spreading positivity about the world
Greece is so beautiful, I love it
I just finished my trip t Northen greece, definitely the most underrated region in Greece
Beautiful! I enjoyed watching this trip very much!
Thank you!
Been there ( Corfu ) for one week,August2022.
What a beautiful island Moraitika, Corfu. Lovely weather and enjoyable foods.
I’m headed to Greece on a school trip in less than I week! I watched this to see a bit what it was like! Looks amazing and I’m so excited!
I have been following your videos for 2 years and I always wondered why you haven't made a video of my homeland but finnaly there it is 🇬🇷
Your homeland is too expensive bro 😂
@@Bnhhgf It depends where you go... There are islands... expensive and not expensive....
I booked Santorini for a week in November, way cheaper than now because it is off season - got a three star for $40 a night! Cheap flight from Athens - weather is still good, no tourists = paradise! Of course Drew was spending like crazy for a special occasion for two but normally I can do a Greek Island for a week for $500, all in. Most people spend way too much, because they lack flexibility or they don't do the research. Trust me, most people overpay 70-80%. I can say this with confidence because I have been travelling almost non-stop for 5 years as I go for 100 countries - I HAVE to keep my costs reasonable.
I Agree with you. Most people overpay. But when you infrom you befor you start the trip, you can defintly dont over pay. You pay local price not tourist prices but needs a little bit time, but its worth. A good advice is, go there where the locals goes. You will eat the real local food for a local price.
You`re my main man Brian! You get it 😎
@@Latexhandske LOL - thanks for the props - just trying to keep it real. It's because I am travelling full time (I really should do a UA-cam channel - but I am too lazy, haha!!) I get awesome deals all the time and then realize how much I used to overpay. As long as you are flexible you can save serious loot! The problem is (and I had this problem for years) is that when you are working, usually when you can take a vacation, so can everyone else, so your are paying max dollars. Go off season and watch the rates tumble. Then there are places like Indonesia which are ALWAYS cheap......
@@BrianBaileyedtech You are so right, I was out a lot in the 80s and 90s and back then I was not willing to overpay for a bed to sleep in.
It`s insane to pay 5-10 times more for a meal.......I don`t get it?
In my mind, Santorini is like Tel Aviv - of course it`s beautiful, but like 500% more then it`s neighbour!
But, hey - I did something totally crazy once;
Gothenburg to Stockholm and Hard Rock Cafe over to London and HRC then CONCORDE to New York and HRC over to Toronto and HRC back again in NYC and a "normal BA" over to London and HRC again and then back home to Gothenburg, Sweden.
Well, good luck with that good weather in November. If it is at the beginning of the month, you may get lucky. Later you can easily get a week of rain with some 8-10°C temperature. Not fun anymore even with Oia view
There are 200 inhabited greek islands and you've been to the 2 more touristy and expensive!!! I'm greek I've been to more than 30 greek islands (not Santorini or Mykonos) and never even seen prices like these....
What islands would you recommend??
Samos, Fournoi, Ikaria, Andros....
🇬🇷 🇬🇷🇬🇷 was the first European country I went to visit in 2009. I was lucky to visit Athens but I was very happy to visit Santorini. I ❤❤❤ the island, the environment and the volcanos with black sand. it was a wonderful experience and I would love to return there one day. Thank you for doing this video Drew!!!!
Nice video! Most restaurants in mainland Greece offer free water if you ask for tap water, but at the islands tap water is undrinkable. The standard 500ml bottle of water costs 0,5€, or cheaper in supermarkets.
Keep doing great content you are #1
Greece is so beautiful, my grandparents have a house in Nafplio, live close to the beach!
Drew let’s meet and do a Finland series together! Northern lights and sustainability project! Maybe some artic camping in lapland
Love this Video, Sir Drew.. I wish to bring my Wife there in Santorini someday! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Santorini deserves until last euro.... It's wonderful!!!!! Spectacular
Please do more mainland/other island videos, Greece has so much more to offer than Santorini & Mykonos!! :) much love bro
Good thing there's this video that can show us this expensive experience.
I have been watching Drew's channel for 2 or 3 years and I think this is the first video about Greece that he uploaded! 😅
Actually, highly visited islands like Santorini, Mykonos etc. are undoubtedly expensive. However other islands or mainland seaside areas are much more economic.
Yes indeed i was thinking the same.. but he didnt upload it in his main channel....and i have heard from him that Greece it wasnt one of his favourite countries... Maybe that why he doesnt put up a video about Greece
Yes I can definitely see that Greece isn't one of his favorite countries. I mean uploading one video that focuses on how expensive Santorini is... Well I find it overwhelmingly negative especially when you choose to visit Santorini as a luxury destination.
I liked most of his videos I have watched, but the fact that he has never uploaded anything else for this country other than this... Especially when this is a country that has so so many places to visit with so much culture, heritage, history etc.. has definitely put me off him and I have unsubscibed. I'm sure it won't make a difference for him.
For me I just think he is biased. . And it really shows. Sad!
Hey drew! I think a cool video for you to do would be the longest way to travel via train which is from Portugal to Singapore!
It deserves each Penny.. Cool
and lovely SANTORINI.
Last week I was in Zakinthos, and it is the shoulder season. Prices wasn’t bad if u avoid more tourists areas then u can find cheap food etc. beauty island and Airbnb wasn’t too bad
Wow, that was an expensive (and luxurious stay). Went last year to Rodos, very nice (sport) hotel, spent half of your budet for a week, for 2 :)
We appreciate how drew spends so much money for us
Wow beautiful content 🤩
Please do return to Greece, and visit more of our islands and of course, the mainland. You can find some screaming deals, at the most beautiful places. Ioannina, Thessaloniki, the Peloponnese, Crete, Rhodes, Kefalonia, Ithaca are only very few of the places you really have to visit! Greetings!
Beautiful place.
Thinking of Greece in the days of the drachma or early days of the euro... felt like a different country. I remember in crete in 2004 getting an amazing meal for 4 for €35. And in kos in 2000 we were given free stuff at so many places and offered to stay at kafenion owners houses when hotel check out was 10 hours before flight. Greeks still hospitable but it's a different place since the crisis etc
I spent a week there this holiday and I spent 500€ all inclusive.
if anyone here find a meal in a restaurant with an absolutely unique view in the world first seat in Caldera infront of Aegean sea with fresh fish with shrimps salads drinks etc for 2 persons expensive at 85 dollars then you guys write to me how this same meal cost in your local restaurant in your country.
Omg thanks so much for doing it I can believe it but can you visit antiparos?
Finally Greece!!!
thats insane when I was in Santoini in October 2023 only cost me 750 CAD for three days and I got to see the whole island!
You should've gone to Ios, which is just north of Santorini. That island is awesome, and for a fraction of the price of Santorini.
I went to athens, crete, and santorini this summer it was awesome
What the guy was saying that living there is bad makes sense. When living you need to look at real life stuff like school, hospitals, job pportunities etc. Obviously tourist don't care for that
Wonderful way to experience greece, but it would have been fun for ypu to get some street food like souvlaki or gyros as well, much cheaper and more delicious than the really luxury stuff
Santorini is, price-wise, the San Francisco of Greece. Everything is ultra expensive there. Thr kind of pkace where a schoolteacher or a community doctor coming from the rest of the country would not be able to afford rent.
I went this year and it was great
I love how he complains about the price of the hookah- ends up loving it. Complains about the corn- ends up liking it. 😂
Well Drew, lucky we have you to show us these beautiful places
That's a 3 month salary for me
Finally in Greece 🇬🇷
Hey Drew Santorini is good for a quick visit (made for tourists like Athens) but if you really want to try proper Greek food and life there are so many more awesome islands way better than Santorini and also Thessaloniki and its outskirts have got some great authentic Greek you could ever have. Try and get to some villages if you can.
You should definitely visit next time the island thasos in greece, Its not that expensive, The Beaches are great the people the food, the streets and our culture in general. Love from greece!
I got really super lucky during the pandemic in 2021. What I paid now for 6 days was under 2k there. Now it's quadruple now. I suggest people stay at a nice place for 1-2 days in Oia then move to a cheaper location for the rest of the week. That's what we did.
I really liked the corn kid 🌽
I like that guy in the beginning keeping it real! 🤣
I like the part of eating corn .I thought it is found here in Africa but anywhere you can come across with it
Positano, Italy is the exact same, beautiful but felt like a scam
You can go to Shisha places in Athens, where Shisha is like 6 euros at most, and it's the normal, these are basically Santorini prices.
As a Greek is sad to see a lot of toutrists going to the most popular and the most expensive islands and not going to mainland Greece to explore so many hidden gems that are everywhere in Greece even in the mountains. Also Greece is beautiful even in the winter where you can go skiing when it have snowed in the skiing resorts.
I went to santorini july last year and spent much less than drew. new york, hawaii are also expensive, its just depend on how you do the trip.
We were recently in Santorini for a couple days in August
We were staying at the exact same part of the island and for a matter of fact we stayed in the hotel next to your hotel
Especially for two days, with less than half the money you spent you could have gone ton Crete and have double the fan.Even for more days.
The prices are outrageous.
I’m Greek my fav is the salad it’s so good
I been to Greece a number of times, but never been to Santorini
Lmaooo I was at that exact same shisha spot! Go down to Thera and there's a hookah lounge waaay cheaper and better there!
You should definitely visit Acropolis
Jesus 225$ dinner! Not cheap, but your wife looked awesome I must say! :)
One could spend less there for sure but the reality is that Santorini it's a very expensive island!
we visit Santorini twice a year, and whilst our accommodation is very expensive with luxury villas etc, the food isnt anywhere near as much as shown here!! We stay in Pyrgos, but eat all over the Island. To Psaraki is our favourite fish restaurant on the island. Amoudi Bay is too touristy now that covid is basically over. I can only imagine you guys paid a massive premium to eat in and around Oia.
Santorini is completely different from the rest of the country from my experience. You can normally get a skewer of souvlaki, greek salad and rice for a very reasonable price. I would like to see if you travelled in your normal fashion outside of Santorini, you're going to quickly show the people that Greece is far cheaper than the rest of Europe.
Hey I was wondering are you going to do the Snia Peninsula?
Are the private boats rentable for the whole day?
We are now in Santorini 4 people because of our wedding and its better to bought it all with a breakfast. If you are going to eat in Fira or Oia ofc it will be much more expansive because of this view’s, but if you walk a little down you can have a food for 10-15€ . So don’t be afraid and go here to visit it it’s for the one time in life so what 😊
I've been to Santorini in August
Some islands in Greece are very touristic and pretty expensive...but when the majority of tourists go there....it is obvious that it will be kind like that...However..there are so many other places and islands that are not than well known , and there you can feel the authentic greek culture and soul...with much less money...Over all Greece remains cheaper than other touristic mediterranean countries like Italy, Spain and France .
I went there and they tried to lift my wallet 3 times. It was always on the subway. Especially when you get on and get off.
Once three guys working together tried to position me in a crowded subway. Always done by non Greeks.
I’m a Greek, I get why you decided to go there, never personally been there, but I think it’s safe to say it’s one of the most expensive places in Greece lol..
Seems that Santorini is by far the most expensive island. We went to Corfu few months ago and apart form car rental, the prices were very reasonable.... Same with Rhodes last year
That’s true. But Myconos is even more expensive. All the islands of Greece, that are inhabited, are great to visit. Car rentals, in summer, is ridiculous expensive, because of high demand. Motorbikes are less cheaper, although they are a bit dangerous.
Nice video but I think Santorin is relay the most expensive place in Greece 😬 The island of crete is kind of affordable. I'm form Germany and Greece is a good choice for a cheap vacation
I think Mykonos is the most expensive. Although i am from Greece i have never been in any of those two islands. There are so many beautiful and cheap choices for vacation in Greece.
@@stfu7798 definitely man im also from greece and those islands are definitely the most expensive people usually go to those really popular islands with alot of tourism and then complain about our country being expensive there are many other hidden gems in country
You can still visit Santorini for about $50/day food and lodging. It is still affordable, but is it worth it?
Its worth mate Greece is Greece and santorini it’s amazing place
You can spend a month on most of the other Greek islands with that money.
Santorini and Mykonos are mainly tourist traps nowadays. Do yourself and your wallet a favor and head towards other islands or seaside places in the mainland. (From a native Greek).
Santorini is the most famous Greek Island but Crete is the most beautiful !!! ✌🏻✌🏻 🇬🇷
You should visit rural Greece to see true Greece
there are many more places in greece you can visit that are just as beautiful as santorini without happing to pay as much if you want the feel of a bustling city you could visit thessaloniki the second biggest city in greece while for island chalkidiki is also very nice its essentially just as amazing as santorini without being as expensive
I live in kefalos. It is an island in Greece
"Insane how expensive it is to book a boat"...pays 400euro for a massage 🤣
May I ask what hotel you stayed at?
As people mention before rightfully so, Greece is not Santorini or Mikonos. Both of them are marvelous, but obnoxiously expensive. I'm not gonna suggest islands to visit, because all of them have something unique. But I highly recommend Thessaloniki. Full of nice places to visit and also rich in Sephardic Jewish history. Love your content!
Santorini and mykonos are expensive..few more islands are mid range..rest of Greece is a bargain paradise
I liked Drew more in the getto’s of Ghana honestly
Santorini after Mykonos is the most expensive place in Greece, You can always make a small research to visit other islands in Greece affordable for everyone.
