"It feels very natural to outsource our problems. Telling ourselves “once I have this job, this partner, this amount of money, etc, I will be happy” is really effective and convenient. Unfortunately no one’s life actually works that way. Im sure we all know plenty of miserable people who seem to have it all and plenty of blissful people that seem to have close to nothing. This song is about the efforts one makes to find some easy fix, unable to recognize that it will never work that way, that we are in the end our own responsibility.""

This has now become one of my all-time favorite songs - Dawes or otherwise. I lost my husband of 40+ years in 2018. I tried so many things to become whole again. None helped. Once I realized that it was up to me to be thankful for the everyday, for having had that love, that it is okay for happiness to hold sadness’ hand, I began to heal. This is my anthem. Thank you.
I’m so grateful a band like Dawes exists.
Don’t ever think you’re alone. You’re not. There are others out there that feel the same way.
Great now I’m crying in the Cracker Barrel parking lot
This is universal and utterly gorgeous.
Just goes to show that so many people are broken in some way. Just need to be ok with it. Love this song. Just wow!
Funny enough, this song fixed me. One of my favorite Dawes tunes already!
Hmmmm, I should not be surprised at how deeply moved I am, even after listening to this song for the 47th time since this afternoon when I first discovered it. This song has helped me past what I imagined just yesterday to be an insurmountable social hurdle. No human can ever be completely "fixed." And when it all precipitates, the variances are what make us shine.
There’s nothing better than a Dawes ballad! Gorgeous lyrics and melody as always.
Best ride cymbal sound ever.
And to the first person that bothered to dislike this song, I’ll never truly understand why someone will actively go out of their way to downvote such a thoughtful song.
We're meant to be broken. Great song, by the way.
Damn. Dawes didn’t have to go so hard emotionally on us like this, but they did, and it is beautiful. Also if anyone know what book he is talking about I’d like to know!
Man, the pandemic has been rough on the cartoon version of Mandy...
How do you continue to outdo yourselves??
This song fixed me a little...and that's saying a lot in 2020.
I wish this had a billion views. I wish kids would watch it in school.
This is why I love music so much.
I can't wait to see the band perform this absolutely superbly written song. This may be the best I've heard from Dawes yet. It definitely has cemented them firmly into the spot I reserve for favorite band.
My god. Song of the year
