- This vlog is a bit of a mish-mash of lots of bits I got up to last month. I got a new computer yay! And I also tested a bunch of new equipment I have purchased over the last few weeks - trying to improve my camera, lighting and sound for the videos! Now I just need to get better at editing 🤔
We also went for a couple of trips out and I got a lot of inspiration from our boat trip on Lake Windermere :)

Ohhh new imac!! So shiny and new. It looks wonderful, and yellow is such a cheery colour. The DJI mic when you were walking sounded great too. Apologies again for doubling your workload with the scanning 🤣 But yay for finishing the sketchbooks and hopefully it'll be quicker for you going forward! The paper art exhibiton looks amazing, so cool! Loved that pangolin one, it makes me want to get back into collage again! Lovely to see your painting process, and your favourite painting is one of my favourites of yours too! I promise once you've listed one original it gets much easier 😊 And I agree with what Sophie said in the comments, some sell quickly and some don't but it doesnt hurt having them sitting in the shop!
I really love my new Mac, although I haven’t tried editing on it yet, because I’m so fast on my PC I’m a bit hesitant to start as I know it will take longer to start with. The pangolin was amazing! I bet it took weeks to make, it had so much detail up close.
A fabulous vlog with a mix of everything. Loved your 10 painting experiment and I can't choose which paper looks best, your art style works well with them all. The sleeping ducks were so cute

Yeah it was funny. He’s always showing me how to do stuff as I just throw myself at things without thinking. Like when I couldn’t find the on button 😂 I’m really loving it! I haven’t tried editing on it yet but maybe next week

Love your big canvas paintings and choice of colors. Makes me want to come back to Lake District (went camping there once in rain and cold and fog and did not really see much of the beautiful landscape)
It is lovely in the fog and rain too, but shame you didn't get a couple days of sunshine! I think it's a really beautiful place in all weather :) You just need the right clothes, and I definitely am not ready for winter in the clothes department 🤣

I sell originals online, and it is scary! but it gets less scary :) And I don't expect them to fly put the door either. Some do, but others sit in the shop for months or for over a year even... then the right person comes along and falls in love!!
Price them how you want them to be priced and don't change the price just because they don't get snapped up in 3 mins. Waiting is fine and nice and good :) xoxox

Parallel lives! I just got the new Mac too, in green/turquoise. Was tempted by the yellow, it looks lovely and sunny! Anyway, going to keep watching now but just thought it was too funny we got the same camera and computer now! :D

Thanks for your awesome vlogg. Love your wild April walks the country side is so beautiful where you live. Australia where I am is also lovely but in a different way. My fav paper is Saunders Waterford I find it great for the price and nice to work on. Your work looked amazing on all the papers but I think it looked best on the Saunders HP. It just added an extra something. Keep on vlogging :)

ooo, new computer, so pretty. I love new tech. I don't know if Katie covers this in her videos but there is a function in Photoshop called photomerge and it dose an amazing job at stitching scanned images back together. I used it all the time when I worked at the art reproduction shop.
I have heard of that but I haven’t used it. I just do an old school smoosh and mask 🙈 I’ll try it on my next set of scans :)
I think all your paintings looked amazing on all the different papers so I’m no help haha! I prefer hot pressed too, tho lately I’ve been using canson cold pressed and I like it. I love the walks, the views are spectacular! Wish I could come visit haha. Anyway, loved the vlog, hope to chat with you later 💜💜

I love hot press for pencils over - just better texture, but i love cold press more for watercolours as it dries better/hot press is hard to work with watercolours. Rough can be nice for abstracts and landscapes but not mixed media. Currently testing soft press from Fabriano. Still deciding on that one. More importantly thicker paper is my fav.

I think I’m swaying towards hot press. Still need to look up the paper prices and buy a pack!
If you are doing mixed media - look into HP with 25/30% cotton. They are cheaper than 100% cotton. You only really want full cotton for watercolours.
Re: the 10 paintings you did from the sample pack: honestly I love them all & think your style looks great on all paper types! The rougher textures add another expressive element to your paintings, but the ones done on smooth are equally gorgeous.
Thankyou so much! It was a great experiment to find which texture I liked :) and a lot less expensive then buying paper randomly.
Great video. Will Definitly buy the zine! Maby some info on the colourpallets and materials in it? I love your colour pallets and i am curious how you come up With them. And i Will Definitly use the neocolours sideways as well i love the texture it brings
