Fun Fact: Technically this album doesn't need a parental advisory sticker, there's no swearing in it at all
Bullshit _ 👀✌No understand the vocalist and so?
@@bifesujo I think the only thing to get parental advisory is swearing
It’s educational. Helps teach kids anatomy
That wasn't fun at all
Offensive imagery will earn a parental advisory, but also worth noting most Indy labels don't have to bother with that at all
This is easily the worst production I’ve heard on a studio recording ever.
I love it.
When i first heard this, i went through tons of reuploads thinking it was the video audio quality. Then the realization hit me :D
It fits the music though just right. It sounds like a chainsaw cutting through a rotting side of beef.
Filth 😍
The drums sounds great to me.
Sounds clearer than my LP played back in the day on a terrible old record player under the headphones!
This came out 12 years after the first Ramones album. Jesus Christ. Music evolved so stupidly fast
This came out 7 years after Venom’s debut album.
And 12 years before Ramones was The Beatles - A Hard Day's Night.
U should use black sabbath as a reference point not the ramones
imagine being a kid back in the 80s in a record store flipping through albums and coming across this cover
That was me. Christmas, 1988. Vinyl Edge, Houston, TX. I was 16. I bought this because of the cover alone. The "PMRC" was crackingbdown offensive music. I snatched it up. Freaked me out, never heard anything like it. Still have it to this day.
Reminds me of a friend of mine who used to go into DVD stores and grab the porn DVDs and put them on kid's DVD section LOL
@@Aegianlulzthats wat i used to do! Lol.. thought was just me...
Don't have to imagine
I was only 19 when I bought this record back in 1988... I'm 51 Years Old now and this is still in my record collection. Hail Old Carcass!!!

This album is extreme as fuck , few other bands could match this level of brutality in 1988 ...
@xdeadmeatx Yep . If it had a good pruduction , I think it would somewhat lose its "charm" ...
Pure sludge...love it.
You’re right, I think their gory lyrics inspired autopsy and cannibal corpse
The same goes for Pig Destroyer's 'Prowler in the yard'.
Leprosy by death
There was no a "engineer ruining the record": If the sound of the recording had been perfect, the dense sound of the Gore would not have been born
Not perfect, but it was meant to be more like Symphonies ended up. You could hear all the drums and the riffs, but it still sounded dirty.
You can have a gore type of Sound with an actual listenable production
@@user-og6pb6dd5p fuck that idea! If you want a pretty sound, go to listen your pop music
After 33 years and this album still brutal. Those were the grindcore days.
They is still plenty of grind around
Goregrind
I'd forgotten how ghoulishly gnarly this album was.
Fuckin slaps
This is produced pretty good. The audio quality is good. I don’t understand why people think it’s poorly recorded. I’m listening to it on my phone and I can understand everything going on. The quality is impressive actually.
It's mixed and Sounds pretty terrible. It's just a mess
The Root of Goregrind! 🤘😎
This is the most important album of this genre , but let´s not forget also "Horrified" by Repulsion .
NAPALM DEATH was't even close to this kind of art
@@blackgoat6666 ND was good when Bill Steer was in the band.
Probably, the only goregrind album that matters
Impetigo
Necrophagia
Milestone Grindcore recording and easily the best album of the genre.
Not sure, Lock Up - Hatebreeds Suffering
12:30 one of the best riffs ever and its 1988!😳
28:56 Dont forget
@@LifeGrindcoreYes! Absolutely. Will you be catching them this winter? They just announced a tour with Cattle Decapitation, Obituary, and Amon Amarth.
And don't forget 18:03, 22:42. And don't forget all album is the best i seen. Hello from Ukraine, and listen to my songs, it's too goregrind 💙💛
I remember the album had to be bought with a black cover (at least in our local EMI) because of the offensive nature of the original cover!
🧨✨💥🔥
This album is just as creative as scream bloody gore.
And just as essential 👍
@@JMD333 horrified by repulsion is great too.
Best Carcass album. Pure filth. I was 18 when I first heard it. 51 now and still love this masterpiece.
One of the best albums in grind and metal history!!! easliy in my top favourite albums
Sometimes the phenomena of a band of musical explorers, and its recording, are perfect. This is one example. Timeless.
Normally I don’t care for ultra gore in album covers, but I have to admit that this artwork actually reminds me of Jan van Eyck’s painting, “Crucifixion/Last Judgment,” which happens to be one of my favorite paintings.
Rotten and suffocatingly repulsive offering from death metal legends - love Symphonies of Sickness as well.
Best carcass album
Love this album, prefer, Symphonies, Necroticism, Heartwork specially and Surgical Steel tho, but Carcass never had a bad album
I prefer Symphonies Of Sickness
The only Carcass album you'll ever need
Psychopathologist is my jam!
God i can smell this album cover
Needs a limited reissue scratch & sniff sleeve!!!
It reeks of putrefaction.
smells like cheese and gonorrhea
Smells like homeless man balls and a crack pipe
Bought this for the cover art when I was a lad. A classic in my books.
I see this as hugely different from a band like death. These guys def seems to have a started a different branch of the death metal family tree
It's grindcore/goregrind
I cringe when people say goregrind...!!!
That's because grindcore is mostly a subgenre of punk instead of metal.
Finally this sick masterpiece it's on UA-cam agaaaaiiiiiin!!!!! Thanks!!
The more I think about it and listen this is a very punk record.
It's punk like any proper grindcore, Jeff Walker was in a crust punk band Electro Hippies just before joining Carcass.
Bill Steer was in Disattack which was a Discharge parody.
Love
a jewel of the most brutal I hope they do not delete them again youtube
Grotesque perfection. This album sounds exactly like how the album cover looks
S/o to the studio engineer that was responsible for creating this famous sound, even if the band didn't like it hehe
Burnt to a Crisp is my favorite "TORCHED TO A PIMPLE!!!!!"
For me is genital grinder
Amen, brother! The (de)composition is wicked nasty.
yeahhh thanks for uploading that legendary carcass job
Too bad you can only give one Thumb Up...
This grindgore album...what a feast!!
The best vomitory música of All time!
Sounds like gnarls from the sewer. Brilliant. Pure old skool carnage
I remember reading a review of this album. The reviewer described the album as sounding like someone tipped out an ashtray on the turntable.
The lyrics and song titles on early Carcass I would swear they actually went to med school and made songs.
Read up on their early years, in particular Grume Gargler and Eviscerator of Maturated Neoplasm...
Insano totalmente inovar pra época
Love to hear this album re-mastered asf

Sensacional
Beautiful
Havent seen any other album cover as fucking brutal as this one. would not be the same without it

There is this riff in Suppuration that I ressembled instantly when listening to Endarkenment; or the other way around I should say 'cause I realized by coming back to this.
back in the days when my music came through the post in a brown paper bag taped on a Memorex 60min lol , good ole times , sure the first guitarist was the one from napalm if i remember correctly , loved English {metal type here } up until about 1995

Top!!!!
I’m a 2008 kid. Never head Carcass before. Yet I have one question. How the fuck did something like *this* come out in 1988?!
Well, Scum by Napalm Death came out in 1987.
Magic 😁
2005 here. When I think of 1988 in metal I think of something like Slayer's South of Heaven. If you gave me something like this without saying when it came out i would have thought like 1996 or something.
I encourage you to check out a band called Siege. They were from Boston They were active around 1984 and are considered one of the godfather's of this style
@@mirapilates hail siege!
Amazing
Their best ever.
The most extreme Carcass album

730 perfection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
definitely the song that got my attention in jr high school!
How all goregrind should sound.
Impressionante
Merda! Ara m'he deprimit 😢
I'll be totally honest: I couldn't get into this album for a long while. Although I respected it & enjoy many bands that are obviously influenced by RoP's style, this album's pure dogshit production just left it dead in the water beyond "Burnt To A Crisp". After giving it another chance while @ work one day (because I *knew* there were solid compositions in here, I just never listened that attentively enough, since I was *working* every listen) it clicked. It fucking clicked, but mostly because I was catching the actual composing & boy -- these riffs stomp BAD. I was listening to Impaled & County Medical Examiners YEARS before I got around to listening to Carcass. Well, I have a RoP shirt & a Carcass patch on my back pack. This foundation is just too seminal to not pay tribute to. This band & Repulsion are just so good & tore shit up so deliciously. Looking @ today's (Gore)Grind scene, you see many great bands following in the footsteps. You look @ Crust? Most bands are straight garbage! (Sorry, nobody seems to want to sound good like Disrupt/State of Fear/Consume) Every band in the Hardcore scene today just sounds like Discharge, Amebix or some church-burning Nords. Where's that Boston/Seattle sound? Can't find shit in that style. If anyone has some good Crust, let me know, because I'm dyin' out here. (please, no boring shit).
I got you fam, in terms of Boston sounds check Speed Plans - ua-cam.com/video/khKU538Ec4I/v-deo.html and Restraining Order - ua-cam.com/video/5IIkmtTsIvY/v-deo.html
For Crust check Nondeskript - ua-cam.com/video/DWaRkoxw434/v-deo.html and Nux Vomica - ua-cam.com/video/TPC6HV7rYZY/v-deo.html
For just good Hardcore check F.I.T.S. - thisisthewrongway.bandcamp.com/album/demo-2015
@@feathersmcgraw4090 Really appreciate the posts, I do -- but they don't hit the target. The first song from the first post (Speed Plans) reminded me of the song "Encroachment" by State of Fear, but that's about it. None was D-beat, I guess I'm doomed to have to start a band after we defeat the actually encroaching socialism/complete stripping of fundamental human rights & privacy that's being rolled out. Thanx again, brother. Take care & don't take any shit.
@@Truth_Hurts_Bad Fair deuce. If you're looking for Crust with a big D-beat sound in the vein of State of Fear I guess I'd say check out Mueco. That's the closest I can think of at the moment. Hope this is more on point, if not, oh well, I tried haha. Cheers.
Mueco - ua-cam.com/video/-MzRfe23rx4/v-deo.html
Idk if this helps try NASUM brother
@@jonathanfarrell1188 Ah, yes. The tame "Grind". Thanx for trying, anyway!
yes, i agree that most death metal musicians and bands compete to write brutal lyrics, but i'm sure they're perfectly normal types who would get sick or throw up at the sight!
Sick as fuck... classic!
Just feel like staring at the cover for minutes trying to see the details in the photo while the music is running.
sounds worse than punk tapes from the mid 90's
Makes sense given its a punk tape from the 80s
And that's what makes it unique. Goregrind is meant to be nasty, brutal and chaotic, with knuckle-dragging caveman riffs. None of that wimpy melodic prog shit of today's "music".
@@proudbrogressive315that's a terrible arguement. The production dosen't need to be dogshit that it can Sound brutal, chaotic, etc.....
Look at symphonies of sickness
This band taught me anatomy.
I could legally become a doctor if I wanted to.
Carcass Is Awesome
time made it even reeker
There isnt pretty much of anything to listen after this- gdmn the putrid stench and grindin bone & meat
Carcass + paradise lost in concert, in 1988, true story
Why do I like this album more than Heartwork?
Because u was blessed with The Power of Intelligence
Me too , my favourite carcass album by far…. This is carcass
Just noticed how album becomes more brutal with each song on it. Scary, as it should be.
Cause Heartwork sucks
Did they name the solos on this album or did that start on symphonies? I cant remember. I always thought that was hilarious.
I love this noise this band is my favorite from uk and Early Napalm death¡
This album sounds like if a bucket of Plankton's chum had a singing voice
Yeahh..remember i got this tape green sleeve cover around 94..the sound is really bad and never finish listen all track! Hahaha
