Piglet rescued after her family is shot by hunters 💚🐷

Meet our newest arrival, Betty - the piglet who escaped death and inspired a whole village with her incredible story… 💚
In December 2022, a mother pig and her piglets were turned loose in a Herefordshire woodland, and sadly, on Christmas Eve, were shot by hunters, believing them to be wild boar.
Thankfully, one piglet escaped and was coaxed to safety by Ilisa, a resident of the neighbouring village. Until she could arrange a home for her, Ilisa looked after Betty, who would eat apples from her hand and even come running to her when called.
Along with Betty’s saviour, the whole village rallied around the five-month-old piglet to find her a safe home. One elderly resident had even tried to stop the hunters from killing the mother pig and her piglets and was left traumatised when they were shot in front of her.
After losing her family and escaping death, Betty finally got the happy ending she deserved, arriving safely at Goodheart Farm Animal Sanctuary in January. Although she is understandably nervous, Betty is settling well into her new home and gaining confidence every day.
