I owned a 69 Charger R/T from 1982 until 2002. I bought it from the original owner. In 1990 I totally FULLY restored it. I loved that car to no end but sadly, I had to let it go on account of taking care of my young kids. I'm a tough old guy but i feel like crying just talking/thinking about it 😢
The 1969 Dodge Charger has been my dream car ever since I first saw the Dukes of Hazzard as a 10 year old. I'm 54 and it's still my dream car. A four door Charger is just an abomination to the name no matter how much horsepower it has. Same goes for an EV Charger.
Some day I'll have a 68 charger. I did have an 87 Charger GLHS. I was 18 and it was my first new car. I did run a 14.86 at Englishtown NJ with it. Not bad for the day.
The Omni GLH and Charger 2.2 were to compete with the new-to-the-USA VW Rabbit GTi. Europe had the GTi way before we did, but small car performance was coming back to the USA in the early 1980s. All of the variations of the performance GLHs and Charger 2.2s were good in their day for the price. Their SLOWEST 0-60 was closer to 8.5 to 9.5 seconds, which was good in the day for that type of car. The turbo variants were much better. What is not commonly known is that the Charger 2.2 and the GLH in particular turned out to be very successful SCCA PRO Rally Production and Production GT class rally cars. Because so many were wrecked in competition, you will be lucky to see one now.
Making icons into family cars. Four doors on Wranglers just look wrong to me. Mustang Mach-E? Don't get me started. How long before the Challenger gets more doors and cupholders? When will we see an El Camino minivan? At least Porsche had the decency to call it a Panamera and not 911+2. They may be good cars in their own right, but just call them something else. Chargers should be coupes, rear wheel drive, and run on gas. At least that's what I think.
I had a '71 SE Charger 383 4 speed manual, as the first car I ever bought and owned at 18 years old. It was already 10 yrs. old when I bought it, but was in great shape. Bought it for $500. Loved that car!!
When the Dukes of Hazzard tv show came out My first car in 1979 was a 1969 Charger when I was 16. My auto shop teacher sold it to me for 200 bucks just to piss off his son for getting to many tickets street racing. Then at 17, I bought a 1970 Charger then at 18 a 1971 Charger, then a 1972 and then a 1973 Duster with a 400 Magnum. Thank you Mr. Farris for selling me my first Dodge. MOPAR STILL RULES THE STREETS.
Goldberg, man,i remember being a kid and getting excited as hell every time you slid into the ring and speared someone anddidnt say a word. then your first line ever was "who's next" . now at 40 you got a car collection that is most men's wet dream. my guy, much respect. id give anything to hang out with you over any other celebrity by a Texas mile. from one gear head to another, keep killing that skinny pedal
Back then, l had a few hot Pony Cars. A 69 428 cj Mach 1 Mustang only got 9.5 mpg combined average. Nobody loved my car more than my Sunoco (I had to use Sunoco 260) Gas Dealer. We got to see a lot of each other. (Every 2nd day)😂
Chrysler Australia made Valiant 4 door Sedan and Station Wagon from (1962 - 1980). Chrysler Charger from (1971 - 197. Chrysler Regal (1976 - 1980) and a Dodge Utility. The Regal and the Charger we're a similar body shape as the Charger like the General Lee
Well,, ive seen a hot tuned stock 73 Nova 350 4bbl smog era hatch fender to fender a 69 440 Charger 1/4 miles and seen a Laguna S3 Smog era 350 take that same R/T. Im very shure if i were driveing the Mopar we would of had diffrent results in my favor since the charger was an auto and the driver a push gas sissy with no mojo for running shit proper. Id of n😢ot layed 90ft rubber or maxed out revs before shifts. . That 440 wants shifts at 4800 no matter what to drop into the deep sweet spot of tourque for that next gear swap.
Making a muscle car a family sedan, disscrace to the name and electric vehicle just crap , in any muscle car co. Gas only muscle . If I wanted electric I’ll get my slot track cars and track out and run it .
The 68-70 Chargers will always be my favorite.

'68, '69, '70s, nothing else matters.

right on . no 4doors
And that idiotic v6 that's no muscle car that's just disappointing
Yep, my first car in 1979.
Amen!
Awesome! Takes me back! I had a 1967 Charger, it had a 383 automatic with 4 bucket seats! I loved that car!
Just perfect! Thanks for this. Always been a charger fan.

As I recall... GLH meant goes like Hell. GLHS was GLH some more.
Awesome. I miss Englishtown.

Love the story of the Dodge Charger, just beyond honorable in its own right, good to go.

I owned a 70 RT/SE 440 4spd a friend of mine showed me a playboy magazine the centerfold was a Charger concept car

Nothing is as cool as a 68 Charger.
The "Bullitt" car chase put the Charger at the head of the pack.

Why are the new Chargers are not 2 doors?
Because the challenger is dodges 2 door

66 charger is awesome, but best one - is 68.
2011-2014 are widely agreed to be the best looking year's for charger...

I wonder how that whole electric charger thing is going
It really wasn't until Dukes of hazzard that the dodge charger became famous and liked by people .. ❤😊
Yep. A six cylinder turbo powered POS Charger. SMH.
Dodge will go under. They are making lame EV's that no one wants.
