I agree, but most people will not go the lengths of these videos. They do give some ideas to me but for the most part I always do my wild game the same. I keep it simple with burger and steaks, maybe a few roasts. The rest is just icing, I never pay for a processor to cut my game.
@@Thisismycomment. he has a story about his youthful greed getting the better of him, as well as the ancient tradition of "camp meat". One is an admission of guilt, the other is more of a talk about the traditions of some outdoorsmen. Obviously statute of limitations and all apply. I won't spoil the story, the book is a good read, and I think it's very humble of him to include the poaching story the way he does. He admits that nobody, himself included is perfect.
I haven't read the book, but a meat eater like Steve has for sure "poached" wild game before. I've killed game illegally many times myself. Hell, my first deer was with a .308 during bow season. When meat is your concern game laws take a back seat to meat in the freezer.
Steve has definitely became my new favorite outdoorsmen to watch over the years. He's humble and you can tell the outdoors is a huge part of his life. He's doing it right.
I'm gonna remember this video in the morning, and it's really gonna take the luster out of my microwaved oatmeal. Love these cooking specials. Seeing the kind of amazing meals you can make with wild game is what has rekindled my interest in hunting. I've never actually killed an animal before, but I hope to change that this spring turkey season. Hopefully I'll get to try out some of the recipes I've seen on this show for myself with my own wild turkey. It's gonna be a long couple of months waiting for opening day.
Rinella is blessed with having the rare talent not only in the doing but n the teaching as well. Always a joy watching him in a wilderness and in his kitchen
What do you hunt? Do you still live in Asia? I love hearing about how and what other countries hunt. Hunting has a way of bringing people together that few other activities are able to do.
You Steven, are a teacher! I love the hunting and also the cook teaching you are doing! And if you dont hunt the cooking can probably work with store bought meat even. I love it all! TY
deer steaks for dinner last night. homemade bacon BLT's this morn. whippin up some moose chops and mushroom/shallot cream sauce tonight.. 2020 season was good!!! and yup.. breakfast beers are the best..
I’ve always stuck to simple things with my wild game meats just because it’s easier but after watching the meat eater cooking specials it’s given me something to look forward to for the upcoming seasons! Love the show Steve and all the work you do.
This will be my first year hunting deer and everyone I know that hunts just does loin and grid. Im a foodie at heart so Im loving all your videos on breaking down a deer and now this. I was thinking that maybe deer pastrami could be possible, but Ill have to try a corned venison also.
I’d love to see Steve collaborate with a chef with integrity. Gordon Ramsay is a douche bag. A good cook? Sure. A successful businessman? Absolutely. But he’s a shit human being and would have nothing worth contributing. Fuck him.
@@philiphahn6086 you do realize Chef Ramsay kills his own food and has other people butcher it for him but this guy could do it for Gordon Ramsay. Ramsay could hunt it he could butcher and cure it etc and then Ramsey and him could face off on food styles
Your brine for the corn beef elk is very similar to a brine that I use for duck breast with the exception that I use brown sugar. Great video. Made me hungery.
Poached egg tip: once you get your boil going, turn the temp back so its barely bubbling, stir the water so its swirling around the pan, then crack and drop the egg into the center of the swirl. That helps keep the whites together instead of splitting up.
The Scotch egg, paired with your breaky hash and beer is a perfectly balanced dinner for any day of the week! Cheers, ill be making this tomorrow, once the meat has all thawed out!
All those recipes look so delicious after you've cooked them. I remember watching the episode where the moose charged you after you shot it. That was one of my favorite episodes. *glad you didn't get hurt* The other episode, is where a mother bear * she had 3 cubs with her* charged you and another one of your friends. Those are some pretty intense moments. I'm glad no one got hurt.
Fun fact, the bull elk he killed in Kentucky, was actually took about 10 miles from where I live. There was about 100-150 elk took from 5 miles out of cove, Oregon.
Love your show man!!! Love how you show where the meat came from that’s awesome 👏🏽 hopefully you can do another episode at the JRE! Big fan here sir 👍🏽
Another excellent video Steve, its great what I am learning and also I hope it entises more people to eat game, a real hunter will consume what they hunt and respect it, keep up the great work
In the uk toad in the hole is Yorkshire puddings with sausage baked into it we cover it in gravy but in my house we cover in baked beans. We’d call what you are making sunshine in a basket. Looks amazing!!!!
You watch Wilderness Cooking with that Chef from Slavic country. Good for you! I see your 2 recipes are so similar. But he always cooks outdoors for the children in his village!!! Cool beans ! SUPER!!!
I liked the last one best. I retired to Thailand so it can never happen now, but I would love to eat this anytime in New Orleans in the French Quarter. With a Dixie beer of course.
I ate right before I watched this, and I'm STARVIN again!! So Im thawing out some Whitetail Beacon Burger for some of them Scotch breakfast balls! Kick-Ass recipe's Steve, thanks!
I'll be honest I almost like watching Steve cook more than I do him hunting! It'd be awesome to see him hunting and cooking with Gordon Ramsay or something.

I have always been reluctant to make scotch eggs from game, but you convinced me Steve. I have lots of roedeer neck and front leg meat which I usually use for burgers. But I am definitely going to make some sausage dough now for scotch eggs.

Solomon Pace You have to say “harvest” not kill you never know when the vegans are around... lol
He has a great cook book too
I have to admit, watching him, I'm gonna be trying out sausage making at some point in the future. After I get my first buck this fall. lol
Breakfast beer?’ 🤣 love it
Wheaties came out with a beer. Now truly the breakfast of champions.
Yep It ticked the final box!
Steves speaking my language lol
The only time Steve ever poaches anything is when he eats his eggs 😄
I see what you did there 🤔
Bruh thats a epic comment 😂 🤣 However most will never get it, or you would have had 10,000 👍 for sure.
if you read his book, you'll know that that isn't exactly true.

Best hunting show out there. The whole Meateater crew do a great job of honoring the wild game.
I’ve been watching Meateater longer than my dads been at the store
oooof. i felt that.
Don't worry, im with you. I'm waiting for daddy rinella to back from the fish shack to make breakfast for me and mom.
😂😂😂😂

Oooof
Our dads went to the same store
That scotch egg looks incredible!
"Bear with me" nice one lol
You know I had to *paws* after hearing that and scroll through the comments to see if anyone else caught that
Y’all are putting the bear minimum effort into these puns.
Almost good enough for a like. Your just short of cleverness points for me maybe next time. 👍😁
The “safe sausage making” crack was pretty funny too lol
