I saw these lights as a 9 year old. They definitely weren’t flares (no smoke, no drifting in the breeze, perfect formation) and if they were some kind of aircraft, they were silent and stationary. I went inside to tell my family about it and got an “Mmhmm, that’s nice” type response. It wasn’t until I saw the news the next day that I found out that thousands of other people saw the lights too. It’s one of those moments in my life that will always stick with me.

Okay so i know no ones gonna believe me. But ill tell it anyway. When i was abour 11-12 years old i lived in mesa az, and i raced motocross. One night at practice at a track in queen creek. And they would criss cross like this at a rapid pace. Quicker then anything id see. Theyd keep the V shape. But it looked like they were switching places. That was it though, the lights all went out at once and were gone. I was mind blown and had no clue how to react but my young naive mind thought OMG I WAS THE FIRST TO CONFIRM ALIENS I NEED TO GO TELL MY PARENTS. I saw orange lights in a v formation just like this around 2010 in Iowa. It was mesmerizing! I've never seen anything else like it. Definitely not flares or Chinese lanterns!

I was there in 1997 with my parents and sister. We were at a mountain top bar/restaurant. I immediately saw them. I alerted my parents and sister; I then started to alert other guests and staff. I kept saying "what is that!" We watched them for 20 minutes. There were 7. They slowly fell to the ground and flickered out one by one. We conclude they were military flares.

Apparently thousands of people witnessed this, even going right over there heads and yet this is the only video footage i've seen time and time again. In this video its confirmed that the lights were below and in front of the mountains. So, are you starting to use your brains yet? These lights do not appear to move. Its dark enough you cannot see the mountains. Is this not simply a group of people or vehicles on a road on the side of the mountain using bright lights or headlights, perhaps intentionally as a hoax? Also why does the subject of flares even come up, I would be embarrased to mention it, why even discuss it, its so ridiculous? it's video footage from almost 30 years ago. The "outline" you're seeing isn't an outline, it's just bright lights burning into the footage, like when you stare directly at a lamp and close your eyes.

I knew a girl who lived in Phoenix at the time who witnessed whatever this thing was. She said there was no way it was a mile wide which is what some people claim. Others said it was the size of a football field. There's a big difference between a football field and a mile. She said it was certainly big, but she never thought it was of alien origin. She didn't know what it was just like the thousands of people saw it. The thing is not everyone of those 10000 people thought it was some alien mothership. Plus the problem with eye witness testimony is exactly that. It can vary wildly. Some people said it few right over their heads. So close, they could touch it. That just doesn't seem plausible. I'm not saying there's not advanced intelligence out there, but whatever flew over Phoenix that night was not alien. It would really cool if it was. I don't think the number is that high. As far the ones saying it was a mile wide. It wasn't in the thousands. Plus she was referring to the earlier sighting. Not the 10:00 sighting. What about the caller who called into UFO reporting center who said they went on lockdown at Luke Air Force Base? Another witness saw Luke send out jets to get it on gun camera. from my observations, its the migrating birds forming the v shape, the feathers of these birds possess a light-reflecting surface. When they pass a certain area, the lights below (city lights) reflects to their feathers thats why you see lights
The "ufo sighting" over San Diego last year were proven to be flares. They also looked extremely stationary at a distance for a long period of time...but there were close up photos of these lights and they were indeed flares from a military test that was done that night. These Phoenix lights behaved a lot like the lights in San Diego as both were stationary and appeared to flicker on and off. I don't think this was an extraterrestrial ufo.

The AntiGravitic effects first discovered by Thomas Townsend-Brown in the 1930's, appears to have been worked on mid 50's by a group aviators under General Curtis E LeMay, the founder of SAC. I think we have to go with John Lear on this, who says his father was part of the group.

If 1000s of people witnessed this event, where is the corresponding photographic evidence? Why show only two photographic sources? Surely there's more evidence...surely. The first time I saw the International Space Station I thought it was a UFO. Small kind of bright light moving very fast through the sky. Thank goodness my kids knew it was the ISS. It is really cool to see.

Apparently thousands of people witnessed this, even going right over there heads and yet this is the only video footage i've seen time and time again. In this video its confirmed that the lights were below and in front of the mountains. So, are you starting to use your brains yet? These lights do not appear to move. Its dark enough you cannot see the mountains. Is this not simply a group of people or vehicles on a road on the side of the mountain using bright lights or headlights, perhaps intentionally as a hoax? Also why does the subject of flares even come up, I would be embarrased to mention it, why even discuss it, its so ridiculous? Flares are affected by gravity, they fall, they are very bright for a reason, that brightness lights up the smoke trailing from them. There is intelligent life out there, but not much down here.

If you pause the video at 0:56 seconds you can actually see the outline of the black craft in between the lights! I've never seen military flares, hovering in one spot, with a black object connecting them all?
it's video footage from almost 30 years ago. The "outline" you're seeing isn't an outline, it's just bright lights burning into the footage, like when you stare directly at a lamp and close your eyes.
Ya, as much as I'd like to believe it is extra-terrestrial, I accept that these are flares. The flares are on parachutes so they appear, from several miles away, to be hovering. And because they are so far away, you can't make out the smoke trails or hear the jets dropping them. They "go out" when they disappear behind the ridge line.@04

I knew a girl who lived in Phoenix at the time who witnessed whatever this thing was. She said there was no way it was a mile wide which is what some people claim. Others said it was the size of a football field. There's a big difference between a football field and a mile. She said it was certainly big, but she never thought it was of alien origin. She didn't know what it was just like the thousands of people saw it. The thing is not everyone of those 10000 people thought it was some alien mothership. Plus the problem with eye witness testimony is exactly that. It can vary wildly. Some people said it few right over their heads. So close, they could touch it. That just doesn't seem plausible. I'm not saying there's not advanced intelligence out there, but whatever flew over Phoenix that night was not alien. It would really cool if it was. The only UFO story that makes me wonder is that Japan Airlines one. That's a little freaky. Not only because of the event, but what happened afterwards. All the other ones have too many holes.
The football field reference I believe you're referring to was in a documentary, in which a guy says "multiple football fields" then "maybe more, it was huge." Over 10,000 witnesses saw it with thousands of them claiming it to be at least 1 mile wide between the furthest outside lights.
keep in mind your friend may be one of many of the witnesses who only saw 3 of the 6 lights, because the other lights weren't illuminated the entire time, which most cite a mountain partially obstructing the view as the reason behind why.

I don't think the number is that high. As far the ones saying it was a mile wide. It wasn't in the thousands. Plus she was referring to the earlier sighting. Not the 10:00 sighting. John Black Thing is many reputable people here in Phx saw crafts fly over them - from the governor to airline pilots to ex-military. What about the caller who called into UFO reporting center who said they went on lockdown at Luke Air Force Base? Another witness saw Luke send out jets to get it on gun camera. If it was military why wouldn’t Luke be aware of it?
from my observations, its the migrating birds forming the v shape, the feathers of these birds possess a light-reflecting surface. When they pass a certain area, the lights below (city lights) reflects to their feathers thats why you see lights

The "ufo sighting" over San Diego last year were proven to be flares. They also looked extremely stationary at a distance for a long period of time...but there were close up photos of these lights and they were indeed flares from a military test that was done that night. These Phoenix lights behaved a lot like the lights in San Diego as both were stationary and appeared to flicker on and off. I don't think this was an extraterrestrial ufo.
