- Hi Everyone , So in this video we are heading on our first ever cruise. We are so excited as we mention many times lol.
We set sail from Southampton UK and make our way to Norway for a 7 night stay stopping off in different places as well as a scenic tour around the Norwegian Fjords. We are on the lovely Iona Ship which is P&0s newest and the biggest ship in their fleet.
This is our embarkation day so all the checking in process is new to us. This is also only the beginning of our trip and there is many videos to come including vlogs of the Iona ship itself as well as the beautiful sights of Norway and also plenty of food along the way.
Would it be a One couples adventure video if we didn't have food involved somewhere lol.

We have watched your videos since this one as we looked at doing our first cruise (same as you) and we did this cruise and got back last week. We find your videos informative, funny and entertaining. They are not about you, they are about your adventures which is excellent. Having now done the Iona to Norway and compared your experience with out impression we find that we re on the same wave length which is great. Keep up the good work. 🤩

Yep sail away used to be a bit of a party with music flags drinks etc . Still enjoy cruises but were better around 10 years ago .

I am a solo female working & living in Guernsey for a couple of months, I saw a smaller cruise ship here last week & I have since had butterflies in preparation as I look for a solo Mediterranean cruise for myself for my leave next month. So watching such vlogs gives me the feels ❤️😊🙏

Shame, no sail away. Our first ship was the Oceana and we did a Transatlantic we had a band on the quay playing us out, free glass of champagne and a dance band and entertainers around the pool. Covid cutbacks have a lot to answer for.

Once you've been on one cruise , you'll be booking the next asap , we sometimes do a cruise and stay so a week on ship followed by a week chilled in a hotel , just love it , enjoy xx

Cruises are amazing, I really hope you enjoy it. Got my fourth booked this summer, going from Amsterdam round the fjords, really looking forward to it. The health questionaire is just because of covid I think.
Having been to Southampton many times, that's quiet traffic lol, try going on a day when the boat show is on. Also, if you ever do another cruise from there, I'd recommend leaving your car at home if possible and take the public transport. As far as I remember there are buses to the terminal normally, as cruises in Southampton are a big thing. Anyway, hoep you enjoy it.
We live in Stoke one Trent so would prefer to drive down, we found stopping in the hotel the night before a good idea and less stressful 😀 , and haha we thought it was busy ! And that's quiet lol 😆 wouldn't like see it when it's really busy, thanks so much for watching 😊
@@OneCouplesAdventure Yes, Southampton is a nightmare with traffic given there is a big shopping centre, plenty of cargo and all the cruises, it's not entertaining when it's busy. Also, always stay in a hotel the night before a cruise unless you live right next door for sure. Taking the train to London and then Amsterdam for our next one.

Love the vlogs, I am going on a fjords cruise in December and wanted to know how you booked your parking at the port.
We booked with CPS on there website. Don't leave it until the last minute and it gets booked up

Can I ask, if we have 1:15 as our embarkation time, how long before would be need to be arriving at the docks? I’m not sure if that’s the time we get to cps car park or not? We’ll be staying nearby but also not sure how long to allow for traffic etc? Many thanks!
Hi I mean we have always tried to embark the ship slighty earlier than the time allocated and we have always been allowed on and nobody has questioned it that we are too early. So I'm sure getting to the carpark for then or even slightly before will be absolutely fine. And hope you have an amazing time. Can remember that feeling waiting to go on that first cruise 😁

With the excursions do they give you plenty of time to get back etc.. im worried il miss it or get the wrong coach back or something!!
Ye they give you plenty of time. If you watch our olden/troll car video we booked that with a local company and someone asked them the same question and they know what time the ship leaves and they get you back in plenty of time

When you print out your luggage labels you will see there are 2 diagonal lines at one end of the label which indicate staples. This is the best way to make them up and secure them (instructions are on them).
When you book the cruise ship parking, the joining instructions are available for download as is your car permit. You just head for the dock gate. It is in fact extremely well organised, it has to be with 5,000 passengers getting off and the same number getting on a few hours later, along with all the luggage and ship stores. It’s one hell of an operation turning these ships around
On our first cruise on the Arcadia, it was docked at the Mayflower terminal. As I followed the lane as directed, a lady spotted the permit on my car and waved my in to park up.
As we pulled up, she addressed me by my surname as she had seen the number on the car window permit. After a welcome and quick instruction, I opened the car boot and three porters descended on us immediately to take the luggage. The car was empty in about 30 seconds with the luggage going on a conveyor belt and through the wall of the terminal.
A quick check of the car, and keys handed over to the lady, and we went in to check-in.
After a very quick check-in, it was through to security and into a seating area.
A tannoy announcement and we were up and on our way to the ship.
20 minutes from pulling up in the car to sitting down on the ship having a meal! Never experienced anything like it.
All our other cruises have been from the Ocean terminal and I don’t really like it much.
We will never forget the excitement and experience of that first cruise.
One thing to remember, so long as you’re not flying, you can take as much luggage as you can fit in your cabin on the ship. On our first cruise we took-wait for it-13 items of luggage! Obviously small bags etc but around 4 normal cases and a large holdall. We bought a set of luggage before the cruise and when empty they all went inside each other and stored under the bed in our balcony cabin. Since then we tend to take less though! We are off on Iona in less than 3 weeks for a 2 week cruise, and we will probably take 2 large, 2 medium suitcases, a large hold-all and a couple of smaller shoulder bags.
Your comment about comparing it to Manchester airport. I’ve not flown from there, but at an airport (we fly from Gatwick or Heathrow) you have to arrive hours early and the security queue and process is a crowded scramble, I find it really stressful, also you have to carry or wheel your luggage further and face the hell of baggage retrieval. I’d much rather go on a ship.

Hi Guys, great video. We are going on the same cruise this weekend. Did you have any issues taking all the soft drinks through security? From the blurb I've read I got the impresion that P&O don't like passengers doing that? Cheers
No problem at all. We read somewhere that p&o let you take 12 cans each but we pushed it to 14 so we had 2 cans each a day. We just put them in a small case and dropped it off at the luggage point

Did you park yourseld in any car park space and keep the car key or you had to give CPS your car key and they do all that? Thanks...
You pull up in a line with other cars. Get your stuff out, they take pics of your car then you leave them the keys and they take your car away
In relation to bringing your own soft drinks do they go in your hand luggage or main luggage? I see that in your arvia video you brought a whole case of Pepsi max
We just take them in our Suitcases that we check in

How many cans of drink did you end up taking on board? I am going in June, but getting various answers regarding drinks.
I think we took about 28 lol. I don't think they are that bothered about pops. If you took 12 bottles of vodka then they might say something lol
Hi, thinking of going on this cruise as our first cruise and just wanted to ask if there is any rules or limits on what food/snacks and drinks your allowed to bring on board?
You can't take on foods you made yourself at home. They must be prepackaged items. You can take cans of pop on, i think you are allowed one bottle of alcohol each but not 100% on this as we don't drink

Hi we went the 21st of May for a week , we didn't get the best weather but don't let this put you off as the week before and after us was lovely lol typical, still had a great time though, the Fjords are stunning

Looks like a great trip! Might have to take a P&O Cruise next time I visit the UK. A lot of similarities to cruising from the US, I recommend a Carnival Cruise from Miami sometime!

All boarding times are different. You will get yours a few weeks before when you can check in. We knew someone else on this cruise and there's was about 10.30am even though they were getting a coach down and it wasn't arriving until about 3pm

We just just out card. Everywhere takes card. You probably wont spend much in the places so not much point changing into krone

1 - yes, not a pcr just a latetal flow will do, i think we paid £12 each for at home tests from randox.
2 - no free wifi they have 2 packages, someone in our party had the top package and had to claim some money back as one day it didnt work
3 - i am just editing our free food video should be out next weekend, they do have some vegan/veggie options. But just ask the staff they are very accommodating.
4 - they shows are booked through the "app" (will have a video on how to use it) you cannot book most shows before hand. Make sure to read your daily horizon leaflet for all the shows and times. They leave you one every night outside your room.
5 - they have 4 free small cinema room that dont need pre-booking. They have a childrens area with games, a wallace and gromit meet and greet. They also have the swimming pools and some outdoor games like ping pong. And a few day time kids shows like a magician.
