Aloha Amanda and Felix!! Mahalo for inviting me on your channel! I really enjoyed the brown sugar truffle and wanna try more from Onaona. And you're right what you said at the end .. the places you've shown are hidden because I love sweets and didn't know about these awesome bakeries. I would have been less interested if it was about Leonard's or Liliha. I def wanna try the Ube Beignet and that Tuna Melt Crunch sound at 6:45 had me sold. Def wanna try that Honey Sea Salt crossiant as well. I take your word for it. That looked sooo good😋😋😋Actually.. I wanna try everything!! Good episode! P.S.. Your cuts and B Rolls are def noticed👍🤙
Mahalo Sean for joining us for the segment at OnaOna! We're so honored to be on your collab video with all our UA-camr peers and we're so happy we could catch up with you before you left! We definitely need to do another collab soon! Also, thank you for noticing the cuts and b-rolls🙌🏼 I miss having those convos with Nhi❤️ hehe Can't wait to see you guys again soon!
OMG, pastries are my weakness, so this vid was AMAZING! Can't wait to try all those yummy sweet and savory goodies.....thanks as always for highlighting some awesome local places! 🤩🤙
Foodie Ohana! I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to watch this episode. Life has been a bit crazy, but I haven’t forgotten about you. Thank you for sharing such beautiful pastries and bread and sweet treats. Everything made my sugar numbers go up. Love you! 🤙🏽❤️🥖🥐🍩🌴
Not only the cutest couple on UA-cam but the sweetest too! So much goodness in one video! Felix loves to crunch...and it sounds so delicious. This bakery episode was fantastic... thanks for tantalizing our taste buds!!❤❤
hi Guys I hope you are both well, you look great. The bakeries there have some fantastic items, I love sourdough and love the focaccia. Those beignets look amazing!
Aloha Amanda and Felix. All of the food looked so delicious and it was good too see the Hawaiian Traveler (hi Sean) joining you for that waffle place. Mahalo for another great video 🧇🧋🥐
omg everything looks delectable! especially that matcha mochi an pan from kobo! I love baked goods, so this video kept me very engaged haha, loved it! ty for sharing
Aloha Amanda and Felix....everything looks sooo good...will be in Waikiki in 3 weeks, hope to try some of those bakeries, I love bakeries...and as always, you two are so cute...❤❤
Hello Amanda and Felix. I just started watching your content and really like it. A couple of bakeries not mentioned on island are Liliana and Kalani. Do you have content on those bakeries?
I saw a hot dog panini at Okayama Kobo Bakery and wondered what that would taste like. Love hotdogs and paninis so best of both worlds. Love your vlog.
Looked amazing! Definitely want to check out the 2 places off of Waialae Ave. Hoping to grab some breads to take to my brother's in CA this week. Never had a beignet so maybe I can get one at NOLA too!
As always, you two go to really ono places. I hope you didn't make the mistake I did when I first tried a beignet and inhaled while taking a bite. Talk about a coughing fit with all that powdered sugar. In your opening shots, I thought that cubed croissant was a cube of fried tofu. Boy was I way off on that one! You're 100% right Felix, it's all about the bread. Mahalo for another great video!
Hi Amanda & Felix, did the Babes Bakery take over the Kuhio Grille spot, it looked really familiar?! Sad to see the restaurant had closed, as it was where I had my very first Laulau after seeing your review there years ago. Thanks for checking out some new places!
Just a suggestion: Paalaa Kai Bakery in Waialua, Hawaii has been around for over 60 years. A little hole in the wall bakery. Their specialty is the Snow Puffy. It's flaky, super light, covered with powdered sugar and reminiscent of a Napoleon. Thank you for all your wonderful eatery suggestions in HI and beyond. We will definitely try these bakeries.
No Lihiha Bakery or Leonard’s? If you go to Maui, gotta have the old standby Komoda’s and KTA and Two Ladies Kitchen in Hilo, and Tex’s Drive in / Honoka’a! I’m sure theirs lots of new and other places but gotta go to the legends! 🤙
Agree. How do you do Hawaii bakeries and not include a Leonard's malasada? Maybe it's played out but the place is an institution and about as Hawaii as it gets.
Tex's Drive in has terrible malasada in my opinion. At least Leonards tastes great when it's hot and fresh. Tex's is just a giant piece of bread with hardly any flavor. I suppose if you want to get full off 1 malasada it's a great if bland choice. It's sad because Hawaii Island used to have some great shops that had actual home made style malasada but they've all closed down.
Love your material! I have a content idea…you should stop by random places for the first time and order what they recommend and share what you like about it. I get the feeling, Hawaii doesn’t have a single bad restaurant
I love our local bakeries! It's sad that Saint-Germain/Dee Lite Bakery closed up. Although at times, I just like to kick back and tear off a piece of Ani's Bake Shop's Cinnamon Sensation bread...yum!
I've always be curious about beignets and now I know where to go to get some instead of going all the way to La. I'm definitely gonna try that ocean bakery. I used to live in that area but moved to McCully area so I didn't know they were there. I have been to that Okayama Kobo, but they were sold out when I went. 😭 I did get their matcha drink. But those last two places, way too pricey for my taste. 😭
Aloha Rick🤙🏼 Mahalo for joining our foodie ohana and supporting us! We're so glad we got to try some of these newer places and showcase some hidden spots for you!
I only allow myself 2 days a month breads but eh, i like grind all deze up every time i splurge on my breads days. 1:30 A'hm gonna cut um diagonal in half wit scissors . 26:26 Amanda why yu eat beehive 😅 Nah, jus kiddn - i luv croissante widda mugga hot Kona coffi
The first two places are where Kuhio Grille used to be, right? I really liked their plate lunches and desserts, but they couldn't survive Covid. There was also a Chinese restaurant and Vietnamese Pho restaurant that have come and gone and I just saw Von's Chicken is gone and a new Korean Fried Chicken business is opening. (Maybe you can try it some time). I haven't eaten at any of those places, but I'd like to try Nolo Cafe and Babes Bakery. I also like Japanese savory pastries, so I want to go to Okayama Kobo Bakery and Cafe. I'm not crazy about the elaborate Korean desserts, but I like croissants and French pastries rather than sweet desserts, so now I have some new places to check out. Thanks for sharing what's available at these new bakeries and cafes and showing us some different 'ono treats!
Nola cafe and the beignets were a complete downer for me. I got the plain ones and perhaps that is the mistake. They were made fresh and hot but they lacked any flavor...just plain bread. Like imagine you had a malasada with no sugar, it would still taste good. If that beignet had no powdered sugar it would be super plain and I'd rather eat a good slice of bread to be honest.

So many videos of those. I like they showcase some lesser known places.
We went to Vavin when we were there in August and everything we had was so good. We went back a 2nd time before we left.

Have to come Torrance in Southern California.....
The first two places are where Kuhio Grille used to be, right? I really liked their plate lunches and desserts, but they couldn't survive Covid. Yes! We hope if you try these new places out, you'll enjoy them like we did! Mahalo Jody🤙🏼
No shade but I would prefer he uses gloves to make the Hand formed focaccia read lol 😅
You forgot La Tour on Nimitz
maybe next time!
Actually you get more variety at their tent at Farmer's Market. Palm cookies are the best.
Doesn't look like the beignet I tried in New Orleans looks pretty good though
They’re bringing NOLA to Hawaii 🤙🏻
Nola cafe and the beignets were a complete downer for me. I got the plain ones and perhaps that is the mistake. They were made fresh and hot but they lacked any flavor...just plain bread. Like imagine you had a malasada with no sugar, it would still taste good. If that beignet had no powdered sugar it would be super plain and I'd rather eat a good slice of bread to be honest.
These are not bakeries. Bakeries bake mostly bread.
