Rump Shaker is still one of my all time favorite hip hop songs of the 90s. Perfectly represented the times. Back when everyone danced and still made it look cool.
Hey did you ever do one on MC Brains from the old Biv 10 label? Matter of fact I wouldn't mind if you did one on Biv 10's East Coast Family led by Mike Bivins of New Edition... There's gotta be a lot of content from that crew. Thanks bro. Great video as usual.
When someone asks me what it was like to live in the New Jack Swing Era, i tell them "You just had to be there". The late 80's and early 90's will never be matched.
Wreckx-n-Effect made a timeless classic with Rump Shaker & they should have had a bigger career. Here's a fun fact: Bobby Brown's wife Alicia Ethridge Brown played the saxophone in the rump shaker video. You should do another short lived group next which is Nice & Smooth.
Good video. Can you do one on Lord Have Mercy of the Fliomode Squad. He had the voice and the lyrics to match. I think he had 1 solo album that released.
I remember watching the Rump Shaker video at my Grandma's and she walk in and somehow knew the chorus 😅 big laughs! Great video lets get a video on The 69 Boyz or Refugees Camp Allstars!!!!
I enjoyed your video but you failed to mention the beef with ATCQ over Phife saying " strictly hardcore tracks , not a New Jack Swing" on the " Jazz" from the " Low End Theory" album that resulted in members of Wreckxxx N" Effect & their entourage allegedly catching Q -Tip outside a nightclub in NYC and jumping him which resulted in him wearing that Hannibal Lecter like mask for the " Hot Sex On A Platter" video and the instrumental from that track was intentionally jacked from the Blackstreet song " Baby Be Mine" ...but Q Tip and ATCQ was backed up by the Native Tounges , Zulu Nation , and Violator Entertainment...apparently DJ Red Alert and Chris Lighty ( RIP) got in touch with Teddy Riley and even the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakahn had them sit down to talk with Him about squashing that beef to set a good example for the youth...Markell Riley apparently co produced " Ruff Neck" for MC Lyte in the early 90's too but from what I have heard ...just like " Rump Shaker" ...Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo allegedly helped ghostwrite and co produce that song too...meanwhile Teddy was busy working with Micheal Jackson and put their career on the back burner to concentrate on Blackstreet!
According to Q-Tip himself the fight started differently. He stated in an interview that Wrecks and their crew were about to jump Prince Po from Organized Konfusion who was good friends with Tip. Tip saw the altercation and jumped in to back up Po and that's when he got sucker punched by a member of Wrecks crew.
It was too version's of the song t hey helped him with the 2nd beat cause the label wanted the song beat to be more danceable and Pharell wrote teddy verse
Interesting... Wreckx-n-Effect. So...yeah... Not really much for me to say because I only owned _Rump Shaker_ on cassette single. I don't remember being too crazy about them. They were coo' for the time.
Idk about that teddy Riley stuff can't say he declined with blackstreet 2 albums and more producer credits through the rest of the 90s respectfully of course
How was it left out that teddy Riley was more focused on being the main focus as well as promoting his family over the group. Thats also why backstreet broke up. I almost feel like this needed to start with how guy broke up and teddy rileys constant arrogance and self centeredness was an issue
Tupac gave as t making gangster rap when this group was out. Tupac didn't go gangster until 1995. I hate when people that are not part of my culture talk about it as if they were there.
Bruh imma keep it a buck, these chumps were a one hit wonder, barely. They had no culture changing run. No one gave second thought to these bozos. I mean WTF?! Lol... I never heard anyone say " Dawg put that Wrecks in effect on" neverrrr, lol. I can't for the life of me even think of another song by them ...
They changed hiphop music videos. They gave the world scantily clad dimes. Music videos were never the same. As a kid growing up in that era, I salute them for that lol.
Rump Shaker is still one of my all time favorite hip hop songs of the 90s. Perfectly represented the times. Back when everyone danced and still made it look cool.

That song also launched the career of Pharrell Williams as a songwriter

Ralph Tresvant (Man with Sensitivity) next
You should do a video on the rapper Foxy Brown. Great rapper in her prime but her story is so sad

Teddy Riley groups never work because of Teddy Riley 🤷🏾♂️
